Waiting for Results on 1st March

Thought it would be nice to start a support thread on here about the wait for our DC getting into secondary schools. Anyone else glad the tests are all over?

Hi, sitting fretting about all of this at work today, and this thread caught my eye, hope you don't mind me joining you.

GEORGEOUSX I noticed you are round Nonsuch, I am hoping for one of the Sutton Grammars for DS but reality may be Glyn - if I'm lucky (only 3 choices as in Surrey). We are new round here, any idea what Glyn's like? Looks good on paper but it's big..

Hm, guess we'll know by this time tomorrow

Hi Snowegg Glyn is a very good school. I know lots of boys who go to Glyn and their parents are very happy with the school. In my area/circle Glyn is considered to be the best non-selective school for boys around here (I know they select a small number OOC).

Also, a lot of boys who passed the Grammars and were not offered a place go to Glyn - they do very well there. Smile

Find out tomorrow whether my eldest gets a place a the grammar school or really good local school. I'm ambivalent. If she gets into the grammar school I worry about the pressure.

We're finding out at midnight, have been a nervous wreck most of the day, thankfully one born every minute on c4+1 has distracted me. God knows how i'm going to get through the last hour.

We are not supposed to be able to access the info until after 4pm on the 1st but that won't stop me having a quick look at 00:01 just incase.

We are supposed to get a text at 5.00pm tomorrow, but not holding our breath - system crashed last year. The children are all really excited, bless them - dd said at the weekend "don't worry mummy, I'm sure that all schools are really good when you get there, even the ones they say are bad". Oh, the innocence of youth!

And now I am worrying that if we get our first choice, maybe second would have been better, although 40 minutes away! And what if we don't get any? Time for bed I think!

I am hopefully finding out at midnight, but there shouldn't be any problem with getting a place, as dd1 is already at the school.

I still feel slightly nervous though.

I'm pretty sure our LEA site has fallen over. I just tried to log in with my email address and password - which I tested two days ago and worked fine then - and got an error message. 3 times. Most annoying - I have to get upat 5:15 am to catch the sparrowfart express to London for a day of meetings. I wish I hadn't stayed up now. Not that I will sleep.

Just checked the website - mainly to make sure I could still find my login details! Says 5pm but none of us will be home then and have agreed with DH we will all find out together. AAARRGHH!

Just found out DS1 has been offerred our 4th preference which is a GS, he will be pleased and that's the main thing.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting for offers, I'm off to get a life (until the end of April that is when I have to go through it all again for DS2 primary school place )

Anyone waiting for an email from birmingham city council? It should have come in after midnight but wasn't expecting to have to wait this long .. dont think i can stay awake much longer :(

When we were waiting for dd1's 2 yrs ago, the email came at about 1 minute past midnight, but I still haven't had anything from them and it's now 7am Confused

twatting partner signed up for email not post as he told me.... Hmm so have woken up to him informing me dd has been allocated fourth choice which has no sixth form provision.

So we have to do this all again in a few hrs. And I don't know the eleven plus results because that email is any time after 5pm so I don't know if dd is wait listed yet.

Am actually quite fucked off. Allocated school was the best of a crap bunch, mediocre results, not keen on the uniform and two bus journeys away.

The only other choices we had available were two failing comps, a comp that is closing after being in special measures and an rc comp that is massively oversubscribed.

So, no GS place which was unlikely anyway due to sheer numbers and couldn't even get into a catholic school despite being catholic.....

Am off to have astrop and get my positive face on for dd.

Just got the letter this morning for DS1 and it's not what we wanted.

Anyone else thiking of appealing? Do you know of any good sites? Just going to start looking now. It's going to be a long day.:'(
