Thought it would be nice to start a support thread on here about the wait for our DC getting into secondary schools. Anyone else glad the tests are all over?

Cornishwitch · 26/02/2011 16:45

Thanks I needed that. DD having sleepover tonight at friends so loads of Wine and pizza for me, stuff the diet, that will start again after the 1st, or not if it's not good news.

Cornishwitch · 26/02/2011 17:11

Aagghhh! have just found out that last year in our area the emails didn't come out until after 4pm on the offer day. Why are the powers that be so cruel?Confused

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/02/2011 18:11

UQD - peace of mind now. You must be relieved.

All still waiting - not tooo long to go.

CointreauVersial · 26/02/2011 18:31

5pm?? What a nightmare. Luckily Tuesday is a manic day for me, in and out of the house for clubs, football etc. so I won't be able to join in the 5.01pm system crash!!

I'm pretty sure DS1 will end up with his second choice (she says with fingers crossed....); his first choice was a bit of a long shot. Unfortunately most of his mates will almost certainly get in to the first choice, as they are in catchment, but we're just outside.

The second choice school is still OK, though, much smaller, and in some ways very well suited to DS1, but I think there will be a cloud of gloom over him next week as it sinks in that of his happy "gang of five" at primary, he'll be the only one going elsewhere.

On the bright side, it will mean he is reunited with lots of his infant school buddies.

Of course, if he doesn't get into the second choice school we are in nightmare territory....(don't even want to think about that!!). Where's the Wine?

UnquietDad · 26/02/2011 19:21

I am still puzzled as to how we got to know so early.

I can't really claim to have been biting my nails like others on here - I'd feel a bit of a fraud if people thought that. It would have been an injustice and cock-up of enormous proportions if DD hadn't got this school place. If she hadn't got it, neither would about 10 of her friends in Y6 who live on our road!

GORGEOUSX · 27/02/2011 09:45

2 more days......Shock Shock Shock

Starting to get a liiiiittle bit nervous now...

Yes, Unquietdad, Its very strange indeed..... especially when you think that 1st March IS National Offer Day..... sounds like a cock-up in your favour, so enjoy!

CupAndSaucer · 27/02/2011 16:08

Me too Gorgeousx....trying not to get too worked up about the whole thing.

Just under 49 hours to go! Need more Wine
Anyone else?

GORGEOUSX · 27/02/2011 16:39

Deaddei · 27/02/2011 17:32

Now I was planning a break from MN starting from tomorrow, but I don't think I can at this exciting stage in your dc's life.
You bastards.
I will just have to waste even more time on here while my kiddies go hungry.

GORGEOUSX · 27/02/2011 17:36

LOL! Yes, please don't leave us Deaddei - some of us might need consoling. Stay until we've got our results and then how about you and I have a nice break off MN together? I've wasted spent too much time on here too. Grin

Deaddei · 27/02/2011 17:42

You've persuaded me Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2011 17:47

lol Deaddei - lent starts in a weeks time. That might be a good time?

Deaddei · 27/02/2011 19:16

CupAndSaucer · 27/02/2011 19:30

That sounds like a good idea Grin
My neglected children would probably agree Grin

One too many Wine tonight - but it's medicinal!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/02/2011 19:51

That might be a step too far Deaddei!!

GORGEOUSX · 28/02/2011 10:16

MyDearGirl · 28/02/2011 10:24

Just One more Sleep and the agony will be over!!!

dreamingofcalm · 28/02/2011 11:26

Marking my place. We should be receiving email at midnight with offer for DS1. Cant seem to focus on anything today, hardly slept last night, just want it to be ovvvvvverrrrr.

madamecholet43 · 28/02/2011 11:30

We have had to sit 6 banding tests during our school application process. I'm a bit worried that if we don't get into any preferred school, it will have a negative effect on our child. There were no local schools who have a distance catchment criteria unfortunately. Frankly this seems like a crazy system!
