Looking to buy for DD1 for xmas.

mogs0 · 08/11/2009 18:28

Just sold my MB carrycot on BIN!! I'm so pleased!!! I also have a couple of 99p bids and the PSP has met its reserve. Lots of watchers too so hopefully will sell it all.

Idris - could you tell me a bit about the PM calendars? I'd like one for ds but am too tight can't justify the full price without having seen one in RL! I might be interested in buying yours if you're still going to get rid of it.

Tort - I can't go an hour without popping up to check ebay!! Now I have internet on my mobile (included in my tariff so no extra charge!) I was even checking it on the way to pick up ds from his class last week just as the auctions were coming to an end!!!

Sushi - it's very satisfying but then I spend the next couple of days worrying that the buyer won't like it or will think they've paid too much for it and demand their money back - though this has never happened (apart from PJ-woman who was quite unreasonable) so I should have more faith in what I'm selling!

Wilbur - £150 is great! I know what you mean about clearing space. I'm gradually getting rid of some of the bigger items I've had lurking for ages and just gave away a bag of clothes to a friend so have cleared a little more space. I still have a huge mountain to get through but hopefully I'll get it shifted this month!

How late into December does everyone list for potential Christmas gifts? I'm just wondering how long I've got really because I've got quite a few children's toys but I now prefer to list a few items at a time rather than loads then getting confused when they've all ended!!

Tortoise · 08/11/2009 18:33

mogs That is great .
I bought 2nd hand playmobil calenders and they do look good. Lego one looks cool too!
I would probably end christmas listings at least a wk before xmas to make sure they would arrive in time.

£150 is great Wilbur, well done - and Mogs, I'm interested you used buy it now for the carrycot. Can someone PLEASE tell me what to do with this bugaboo hood? It's as new, and I'm wondering whether to use BIN or a reserve as I don't want to sell it cheap?

About to list a couple more bits but would be grateful for any advice...

mogs0 · 08/11/2009 18:56

Thanks! I've seen the calendars in the shop but it's not the same as having one at home to look at properly!!

As late as a week before Christmas? That's good, gives me quite a bit of time to list the bigger toys. I've just pulled out the wooden garage from the back of the cupboard and found the missing pieces from the airport - result!! Going to list them tonight - they've been selling for between £20 and £40 I don't think it cost as much as £40! Still not sure whether to list it all together just to get it out in one go.

Tortoise · 08/11/2009 18:58

Sushi If you really don't want it to go cheap then list as BIN. You can also add best offer.

Mogs I would list the garage on it's own i think. As well as any cars etc that it came with.

mogs0 · 08/11/2009 18:59

sushi - have you looked at completed listing to see how much similar items sell for? I have no idea about Bugaboo (it's one of the very few buggies I haven't used! ) but you can get an idea from what others are selling for.

I started my auction at 99p but put on the BIN in the hope that it'd sell that way. The minimum reserve you can put is £50. I'll go and look on ebay now and see if I can help you after that......... (any excuse to go on ebay!!)......

mogs0 · 08/11/2009 19:06

Just had a look and there aren't very many that have sold. The ones that are there have sold between £17 and £40. Have you tried listing it on the Sale board on here?

sushistar · 08/11/2009 19:19

oops don't know what happened to that link - never mind, ink cartridges are not very interesting!

I can't post on the sale board here as I don't have CAT which you need to subscribve to I think?

Ok, so reserve is no good - I might try BIN / Best offer. I've never used it before, hope it works. I just don't want to sell it for 0.99p - I think anything around £15 I'd be happy with.

mogs0 · 08/11/2009 19:28

There might be someone asking for one?

sushistar · 08/11/2009 19:38

Ooh I'll have a look.
If I use best offer and someone offers a really low amount do I have to accept it?

Bellared · 08/11/2009 19:51

Hi Sushi, I don't know why I've done that. Maybe that's they're not selling! I am a spoon! I'll put them all under boys clothing and see what happens. Thanks for pointing it out I noticed it but didn't take it in IYNWIM?

Evenin' Mogs, yeah, I think they'll be going to the charity shop after this. They're in the junk spare room type thing atm and it needs clearing out anyway. She only lived about 3 miles from me too. I though she posted on here as I recognized the name but I've checked on here and she doesn't.

I have lost out on the rest of the stuff that I sold with them as I miscalculated the post and after fees and that think I was left out of pocket.

We WILL make our targets!

sushistar · 08/11/2009 19:52

Can't see anyone wanting a pink hood ebay it is I'm afraid!

kitsmummy · 08/11/2009 19:55

Hello, have just joined, I've spent about a day and a half listing things, am just so impatient for it all to sell now! all this

sushistar · 08/11/2009 20:06

Listed the hood here - first foray into BIN, we'll see what happens!

sushistar · 08/11/2009 20:09

Hi Kitsmummy, you've been very busy!

sushistar · 08/11/2009 20:10

Bellared, I thought it might be tactical! I find the baby / child clothing distinction a bit fuzzy, I'm never sure where to put stuff.

kitsmummy · 08/11/2009 20:16

Yes Sushi, DS came down with swine flu on Friday, so baby (DD) shipped off to granny's, and DS has wanted nothing but to lie on the sofa in front of the tv, quite advantageous for the ebaying

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2009 20:33

With best offer you can set a price where you definitely would accept it, another where you definitely wouldn't, and in the middle it would come to you and you decide.

Am listing more items

DH very nicely took DC to see his mum and dad this weekend. They will be back soon though

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2009 20:35

I see the boots didn't sell Tortoise .

Not that they were a little ugly or anything....

mogs0 · 08/11/2009 20:44

Idris - did you see my post about the PM calendar?

Tortoise · 08/11/2009 20:58

No the boots didn't sell! Do i bother to relist them as everyone hates them?

Hope the clarks ones do better despite my bad listing!

OP posts:
sushistar · 08/11/2009 22:36

Tortoise maybe try different photographs - it's amazing how different the same item can look in different light / photographed in a different way.

My bugaboo hood already has 1 watcher, it's only been up for a couple of hours! Exciting! I put the best offer feature on with a minimum of £15, but if someone offered me £16 I'd be in a dilema as I'd want to wait and see if I got a better offer...

Lets have a look at your new listings Idris?

IdrisTheDragon · 08/11/2009 22:46

Woo hoo Two bids on one lot of tights.

I think you have 48 hours to decide if you want a best offer or not.

Here are my listings - I had to stop as DH and children came back.

Mogs - I am selling the Christmas in the Park and the nativity Advent Calendars. Can't find every single piece for the Park one so have started it a bit lower. You get a calendar that little boxes go onto, and each box has some playmobil in. You also get a scene for them to go on and every day there is more to play with .

I have watchers on the advent calendars. And quite a few views too.
