Haven't listed anything yet, but going to be starting to pack for my move soon, so as I go along I'll list stuff I don't want to keep.

Anyone going to join me???

Woohoo!! I've got a bid and 4 watchers on my handbag!!!

mogs0 · 04/01/2009 20:39

Right, I'm going to have to switch the internet off now. I have started hitting refresh on my selling page and am likely to spend the next 4 hours doing it unless I leave now!!

I have another bid though!!!

Hi Lilyloo

FAQ I got a budgeting loan in Nov to pay for a new cooker. They are taking £35 a week off my IS to pay it back. Struggling with that much taken off tbh. I thought it would be lower re-payments than that.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 20:44

that's a lot - but I could cope with that sort of amount taken off if I wasn't having to save (which I wouldn't obviously)...

Going to go and ask about it this week, would certainly ease my worries a little about getting the money together and moving before I have to move.

Do they need "proof" of what you're spending the money on though? As at the moment exH hasn't actually had the house repossesssed so on paper I still have a home.......

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 04/01/2009 20:56

No i just filled in a form and sent it off. Depends how much you need as to how much they will take each week. I asked for £650 to cover the cooker and to help with xmas presents! Not that i put that on the form. it has been a great help being able to claim it. Would never have saved enough for a cooker otherwse.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 20:57

oh that doesn't quite as scary as I thought it might be - did you just get the form from the Job Centre??? That's probably around the amount I'll ask for - hoping to have "around" £800 by the end of January - would have got another £400-500 by the end of February, but obviously if I can move sooner then I can get settled sooner and not start getting stressed about exH appearing in court etc etc (if that makes sense)

OP posts:
TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 04/01/2009 21:04

I just phoned them up and got a form posted. very easy and so helpful when in need! I can totally understand why you would want it as soon as possible. Actually, you can download and print a form of the website too.

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 04/01/2009 21:05

*off not of!

TortoiseRidesaReindeer · 04/01/2009 21:06

Oh and the big newest Furby is probably no longer sellable thanks to the bloody dog! He has chewed off one of its toes while i ran upstairs. Stupid F*ing animal!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 21:07

so if I were to walk across the park and pop into the Job Centre plus tomorrow (it's only 5 minutes from my current house ) I could just pick one up?

Definitely don't want to be sat around here under "the bitter end" (so to speak) would rather just get moved and settled, and if I could get a budgetting loan to help pay the deposit and moving costs then that would really help.

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 21:08

oh poo about the Furby

OP posts:
goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 21:14

oooo just had a look at the form online - it's not half so scary or long as I thought it would be. Shall sort out tomorrow about trying to get that - who knows I may even be able to move at the end of this month!!!!

OP posts:
Tortoise · 04/01/2009 21:20

No not a scary form. Go in and ask for a form. Good luck.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 21:22

I don't like scary forms.

when I first found out I'd have to move I went to get a housing application form from the council - with the aim to be on the list as "back-up". I didn't really want to go on the list anyhow, as I knew by the time I was near the top to be offered somewhere I would be officially homeless - and would have to take whatever they gave me, wherever it was - and there are 2 areas I wouldn't go to/back to for all the money in the world........and as the for was so bloody long I didn't fill it in - it's still sat in my "inbox" waiting for me to do it.

Shan't bother I will have the money (regardless of budgetting loan or not) by the end of Feb (obviously loan will mean I'll have it quicker) and I will find a private landlord who will accept HB

OP posts:
Tortoise · 04/01/2009 21:29

I hate housing forms. I was going to fill one out just to be on the list even though they class my 3 bed house aa big enough for me and 4 dc, i hope to move somewhere bigger one day! I sleep downstairs so that the boys have a room each. Their room was just too small for them to share.
Looking into a swap but i don't know where i want to go! Or if i want to move the kids out of school and away from friends. But i can't sleep on a Futon forever!
Hope you get somewhere soon.

OneDS · 04/01/2009 21:56

FAQ, I am in very imilar position, trying to find some money (as much as possible), a private landlord who is affordable, takes HB, and has house in reasonable area. It is a major headache!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 04/01/2009 22:06

it's a nightmare isn't it.

Actually I've seen a few suitable places that take HB - I just didn't have the money at the time.

Biggest problem for me with the council thing is that until I have "official" notice in my hand that I'm going to be homeless they won't take me seriously.

Now, not only is exH unwillingly to write a letter saying I have to be out, but it would probably be disregarded because it's the marital home anyhow (all in his name, something I often wondered if was the right thing to do, but now it appears it was, as I walk away from this with a "clean" sheet - there are no links with him on my credit file) - so therefore have to wait for the court decision to order the repossession, which then gives 6 weeks for the council find me somewhere . Until the court makes it's order I have nothing to say that I'm going to be homeless

GAHHHH

OP posts:
OneDS · 04/01/2009 22:08

Council not an option fo me as no council house in wlaking distance for ds' school (will be only thing staying the same for him - very important), so it will have to be private rent. Just need to magic up some money now from somewhere.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 05/01/2009 12:26

WOW- signed in to my ebay this morning to find someone had offered me a £55 buy-it-now for the pushchair i was selling, i was only expecting about £40 for it!! They live local too so i dont need to faf about getting a courier!!

Made a big list of everything i have to sell and i have about 50 things!! hope i get good prices as i will then hopefully get the £300 target in no time!! Just got to get a move on with listing everything... still not got my bum into gear with listing the Bike trailer!! Poor DH brought it in the house etc and i've just not had the energy to do it!!

PersephoneSnape · 05/01/2009 13:13

i seriously need to do this - our TV lost it's sound last night, so my aim is a swish new flat screen telly

am reconciling my ebay pile and putting it on in manageable chunks once a week or so.

clicky!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 05/01/2009 14:09

OK so pushchair has gone now... £50 in the pot!!

Have also just listed my bike trailer... hope it sells ok, its new and unused, and others the same but used are selling over and above £40... so put mine on with a Buy-it-Now of £50.... does that sound about right?

If that sells then i'm 1/3 of the way to the £300 target!! think i might get some other bits listed today, selling the pushchair has got me into gear... think feeling the money was what did it

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 05/01/2009 16:32

have just listed a few more bits.... slowly but surely i'll get them listed!!

FAQtothefuture · 05/01/2009 16:33

well done

I'm hoping to start listing a few bits at the end of this wek

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 05/01/2009 16:35

link to my listings.... do they look ok? i know lots of people will be skint after xmas so i'm hoping to list them 'extra' well for better sales!!

OneDS · 05/01/2009 22:42

I have two double buggies, can sell one now and one in a few weeks, but don't know if worth putting on ebay, the fabrics are a little faded (both have fabric which is navy with baby blue), do you think they would sell?

One is a graco stadium duo, and one is a marco sky.

Might just sell them locally for a small amount.
