Haven't listed anything yet, but going to be starting to pack for my move soon, so as I go along I'll list stuff I don't want to keep.

Anyone going to join me???

Wuxiapian - I know what you mean about the time and energy! I have all these great plans of listing a couple of items each night on TL then uploading everything on a Sunday but I never get around to doing it. Although, once I've done one listing I find it quite addictive and get lots more listed quickly. I listed about 75 items in the run up to Christmas. I've only done 4 so far but once I've done my tax return I'm going to try and list things regularly in an attempt to be clutter-free!! Ha, ha!!!

persephonesnape - any more bids yet? Are all your items finishing at the same time? I'd managed to stay away for at least half an hour (!) and thought my items would be into triple figures by now but, no, they're exactly the same!! My handbag has had a couple of bids throughout the day but is still £8 away from its reserve. I'm thinking positive thoughts that it'll meet it's reserve!!

mogs0 · 11/01/2009 19:12

I have a dilemma. My handbag just ended at £42.50 but had a reserve of £50. Do I offer it to the highest bidder for the £42 or re-list and risk it not meeting the reserve again? It had 35 watchers. An identical one sold last weekend for £72 but was in better condition.

Also, just sold a buggy that belonged to my friend. I had sold it before Christmas but had to re-list it due to my error. I offered my friend the sale price (out of my pocket) so that she could get it out of her house and told her I'd relist after xmas. It's just ended £20 more than the first time. Would you offer all, part or none of the difference?

Tortoise - just read your post re the budgeting loan- it is possible to renegotiate your repayments. Just contact them and they'll send you a budgeting form to fill in, I do it all the time with tenants(i work for a housing association).

I'm not sure who posted re. not going for a council house( was it you FAQ) as there were none near dcs school, its still worth going on the list as councils usually have nomination rights to HA properties, not all council stuff is as obvious as you think ie. not always on estates and being on 'the list' gives you access to affordable(?) options such as shared ownership.

If you need anymore info on grants or loans etc. I can point you in the right direction..

Sorry to have hijacked the thread though I am waiting for a new camera so perhaps I could have a go on ebay(have only ever used it once to buy some bambino mio wraps which still had bright yellow poo stuck around the cuffs).

Stuff to list includes:
QUinny carry cot
A baby monitor
Stairgate (and extending bits)
A spa thingy which attaches to the side of the bath.

.....unlikely to make anywhere £300 though!

I am also looking for somewhere to sell an antique chinese sofa - does anyone have any ideas where I should start with this?
hope to be back later as am totally neglecting DD.

PersephoneSnape · 17/01/2009 09:42

mogs, yes - all ended at same time, no further bids so £16 - whatever was my total. am not of faint heart so am relisting and adding (courtesy of turbo lister) stuff here

of course i bouoght a bloody dress with the proceeds, so am actually in negative funds! that and winning bidder from slovenia complaining about postage... meh!

SammyK · 21/01/2009 18:46

Stuff4sale £50 (buggypod, little tikes car and toddler bed frame)
Magpie £8 (CDs)
Ebay £120 (!) toys

I have more to put on ebay but got so sick of wrapping parcels and trapsing to the Post Office . . .

I have promised myself that I will not buy anything we do not need, this includes spontaneous toy purchases for my gorgeous ds, and I will also sell anything we don't need. I really need to reign in my finances.

mogs0 · 04/02/2009 17:39

How's everyone getting on? I think I was up to £150 after my first week of listings but haven't put anything else on. I put it all on hold until after I'd done my tax return. I've no excuses now so will try and list some more on the weekend. I've got about 50 items photographed so will make a start on those. The walls are starting to close in on me again, I need to clear clutter!!!!

Tortoise · 14/02/2009 17:58

I need to get listing! Had my gall bladder op 2wks ago so i have no excuse now, well, except it is half term and dc are home so will have to do it all in the evenings!

blametheparents · 14/02/2009 18:41

COuld I join the challenge too please?
I am a bit of an ebay virgin, but have just sold my first items this week and have made £31.50 for a few boden and fat face bits.
Question for all you ebay professionals! Is it true that items make more that finish n Sunday nights? Or in the eveninings at least?
I haven't done this as yet, items finished lunchtime Friday and wondered if I would have made more if I had finished in the evening?
I currently have a Karen Millen skirt, a girls fat face dress and a boys Junior J t-shirt listed. None of which have any bids

Tortoise · 15/02/2009 21:22

Finally listed a few items!
Just 10 of them here they are.

So much more stuff to sort out and list. Trying to raise funds for flights to Turkey to visit my parents. i haven't seen my mum since they moved just over 3 yrs ago!

blametheparents · 15/02/2009 21:37

Here are my items.
Must list my other children's clothes

Tortoise · 16/02/2009 22:07

I have a bid already

blametheparents · 17/02/2009 19:03

Aimsmum You have some lovely girls bits there. My DD1 would love them. But, and i hope you don't mind me saying this, the postage price seems a bit high. For example a t-shirt £2.75 postage. But a dress for 25p less postage.

No more bids or BIN on my stuff yet.

I really need to get off my bum and list more things on ebay (It's OneDS BTW), I am still with DP and have cut my work hours so completely scarily skint!

Tortoise · 18/02/2009 20:58

aimsmum I can see 32 items. Is that right? I would invest in some cheap scales so that you can calculate postage. I weighed one of DD's t-shirts and it was about £1.20 postage. Hope that helps.

One of my items has ended on BIN.

Tortoise · 18/02/2009 21:03

Aimsmum Just spotted a typo on the item listed as 'ladies v neck pinstripe skirt NEXT 16 pink long sleeves'. Pic shows a shirt not a skirt.

Yay!

I have 2 bids. 2 items will now sell. Not going to get around to listing tonight now. Haven't had time to get anything out of the cupboard.
Maybe tomorrow!

I think i would leave it to bids. Or maybe ask them if they had a BIN price in mind?
