Early Spring Clean : Anyone for a 400 pounds by Easter challenge?

Was listening to a radio programme the other day about making money from your old things and it made me realise how much stuff I've got 'waiting to go on eBay'.

Just wondered if anyone fancied a challenge to see how much we can each make from selling the unwanted stuff we have by Easter. I reckon I could get to about ?400 maybe?

We'd have to share our eBay names, and then keep a running total of everything we sell between now and 31st March?

For simplicity's sake I'd suggest we just tot up the totals invoiced (incl. P&P)rather than the net profit IYSWIM?
To include only unwanted items - not trading of new goods etc....

I thought if it became competitive it might spur me into action more !

I feel like I live in the post office this week, have been to my local one twice, one near my Mams once and one near work once!

nikkie · 06/02/2007 21:09

Also recieved a postal order today for 7.07 today not sure why! Someone was sending me one for £4 but nothing I am waiting for payment for is £7.07 Do I send the £4 one an email and query it ?
And with the new PO that you take to the bank do they clear straight away?I've only ever cashed them at the PO before.

justbeme · 06/02/2007 21:51

Ive relisted a few bits - Juliet0395
Had an email from Ebay to tell me they are taking £19.96 in ebay charges plus the paypal costs of about £6 and then postage of £24 - so my £220 comes down by £50!!!!!! Is it worth it? God I didnt realise the fees were all so much!
Do you think its better to have lots of big sales or "little" sales which works out the best?

tortoise · 06/02/2007 22:00

Still not added any thing else. Have lots to post still though.

nikkie · 08/02/2007 19:19

You can't count p&p in the profit though as it is paid for by the buyer (and usually they end up paying more than it costs anyway!)

justbeme · 08/02/2007 22:25

i know but when you go into MyEbay and theres a total there of £220 - you think its all yours!! Its not until you sit down and break it all down you realise that a big chunk has gone!

nikkie · 09/02/2007 20:30

They don't include the p&p in that.
Mine says £212 but I have had over £300 from paypal.

nikkie · 10/02/2007 21:37

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 10/02/2007 22:09

Table and chairs SOLD! Woo hoo!
Only problem now is that i use one of the chairs as a computer chair! i will have no where to sit and MN.

nikkie · 10/02/2007 23:06

Cheap one from Asda/tesco? will the keyboard reach you sat on the floor?

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 10/02/2007 23:25

I might have to sit on my gym ball all evening. Or as someone else suggested, a garden chair!

nikkie · 10/02/2007 23:39

A gym ball would be very good for posture!
But no good if you started laughing Would literally be ROFL

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 10/02/2007 23:42

Lol It would do for now! I will try not to end on ROFL!
Lets hope my other items sell tomorrow. One on BIN has 2 watchers.

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 11/02/2007 12:01

Table and chairs gone.

Maybe you could count it as exercise?
Just don't sell the gym ball , then what would you do?

Less than an hour on my bits. Will add some more later. Not sure how many days to do though. 10 felt sooo long.
£83.97 it says ive made in the last 31 days. Have sold a few other bits on MN too. Hope to make a lot more soon!!

nikkie · 11/02/2007 20:30

£249.46 is my sold total.
Not doing too well atm though.Have loads left to list and am doing a couple of things a night.I do 10 days as you pay the same anyway and there is more chance of people looking.

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 11/02/2007 20:51

ends in a few mins two watchers so why have they not made an offer or just done BIN? Its not going to sell i don't think.

MascaraOHara · 11/02/2007 21:04

hi there, have listed a few more bits today. Have sold just over £70 worth of stuff now. Must make more effort!

tortoiseLikesItNiceAndSlow · 11/02/2007 21:09

Unsold again. Don't know what to do now. Can't really go much lower. Its worth that much i think.
Will re-list some other bits then list some new stuff.
