Early Spring Clean : Anyone for a 400 pounds by Easter challenge?

Gameboy · 19/01/2007 13:44

Was listening to a radio programme the other day about making money from your old things and it made me realise how much stuff I've got 'waiting to go on eBay'.

Just wondered if anyone fancied a challenge to see how much we can each make from selling the unwanted stuff we have by Easter. I reckon I could get to about ?400 maybe?

We'd have to share our eBay names, and then keep a running total of everything we sell between now and 31st March?

For simplicity's sake I'd suggest we just tot up the totals invoiced (incl. P&P)rather than the net profit IYSWIM?
To include only unwanted items - not trading of new goods etc....

I thought if it became competitive it might spur me into action more !

I'd like to join in, please? My user id is johnalfanut and I'm up to £37 for the items I've listed in the last 2 days! Hooray!

I've had a mammoth pile of stuff waiting to be sold for months, and this has inspired me to get on with it!

Gameboy · 20/01/2007 10:22

Welcome aboard Satine! Crikey - you've got a head start then

woohooo - got my first bids - got 4 watchers and 4 bids on my hymnbooks - currently up to £6.50 and they don't end for another 6 days LOL.

Gameboy · 20/01/2007 11:12

fannyannie ...

I wasn't going to upload my stuff til this evening, as I have a theory that the evening is a better time for auctions to end - whaddyathink?

(I didn't know there was so much of a market for hym books - well done!)

Hi - Can I join too. Great Idea! We are moving next month and this will give me the incentive to clear out and make some money to pay for the removals!

My ID is sallyjones789

satine · 20/01/2007 11:20

I agree, Gameboy, I think evenings are def the best time to end auctions. You can schedule the auction to start (and therefore end) anytime you want, but you have to pay 12p or something to do this.
I try to aim for Sunday nights, if I can.

Gameboy · 20/01/2007 11:26

Hi PoppiesMum - welcome and get selling....

Kaz33 · 20/01/2007 19:01

moid - haven't listed anything yet, and sure I won't make £400 but inspired to clear out the ebay drawer. It will take me a few days to get sorted but put me on!

Kaz33 · 20/01/2007 19:03

Ah - you have to add * at the beginning and the end of my ebay name.

If I do it here, then it just comes out in bold as such moid

charliecat · 20/01/2007 19:19

lol, i looked you up as moid and you have never brought or sold anything in 8 years!

Gameboy · 21/01/2007 12:23

wheyhey! I have watchers, but no bids yet (but that's fine....)

katzg · 21/01/2007 14:41

fannyannie · 21/01/2007 15:54

bahhumbug to Satine - they're only gone and put a car on there -

Kaz33 · 21/01/2007 20:22

Hmmm - just looked at my ebay drawer and checked prices on ebay, lots of it and not selling so might try and see if anyone wants it on Mumsnet first.

Can I put that towards my total??

Gameboy · 21/01/2007 20:35

OH, go on, Kaz, I'm sure we can let you

OP posts:
JARM · 21/01/2007 21:22

bit late in joining, but my first item sold today after 20 minutes of being up for £65 inc postage! (ok it was a double buggy, but it went for the BIN price!)

WOO HOO

Will list more tomorrow when my camera batteries are charged!

satine · 21/01/2007 21:27

So you spotted my evil plan.....mwah hah hah....

No, my dh went and put his old car on without warning me! But I promise I won't count the proceeds in my total

I keep thinking that I ought to get a separate ID from him, but then I'd have to start from 0 feedback, and I can't really be bothered.

I'm actually wasting valuable listing time by posting on here - I have another whole pile of stuff waiting to be sold!

katzg · 21/01/2007 21:35

can i count my nappies in my total please? its just they sell much better on the nappylady rather than ebay!
