my challenge for myself is to totally clear house of stuff we no longer need or use. I hope to make around £1000. We need the cash as I am virtually out of work (lost job over a year ago). I have to clear our overdraft!

mogs0 · 05/10/2010 16:20

Yippee - sold the 2 Emmaljunga cosytoes for £45!

overthemill · 06/10/2010 08:15

well done! i'm gutted - just had my ebay bill - £48!!! anybody know when the next free listing day is ? :)

mogs0 · 06/10/2010 09:21

Oh, that's a lot! I don't know when free listing is. I guess because they've only just had one, it'll be a few weeks yet.

I haven't even looked to see how much of the £45 from cosytoes will be left after PP and ebay take their cut.

I think a lot of my stuff can be started at 99p so it doesn't cost to list then.

overthemill · 06/10/2010 09:33

what i was surprised at was the 'final amount' percentage eg for a really nice mirror that went for £50 it was £5!!!

o well, will just list everything else on next free day but that doesn't help my clutter control...

mogs0 · 06/10/2010 09:39

I think everything is 10% now.

Would you be brave enough to list at 99p? At least that way you avoid the listing fee.

I'd be quite happy to reduce the clutter for 99p a go - I'd still make a fortune if every single thing waiting to be ebayed sold for under £1!

mogs0 · 06/10/2010 13:37

Carrycot sold for £25!

I have just found a couple of jumpers that I can't decide whether to keep or ebay. I might just see how the other stuff sells first - at this rate I'll have ebayed all my clothes and have nothing left to wear!

overthemill · 07/10/2010 14:00

the thing about that is the fees really add up don't they - paypal fees , postage and ebay fees mean that i barely made 10p on some things - need to charge for my time in postage i think even just 20p extra would help (I have to drive to post office!)

SNOWBall4girlz · 07/10/2010 20:03

is there another free listing day? oct 9 and 10th
sold about £50 this week but two big items need to get relisting :)

Tortoise · 07/10/2010 20:08

I hope there is another free listing day Smile not heard anything though. Don't want it this weekend really. It is my DS2's birthday and party Sunday!

Tortoise- free listing is on again Sat and Sun (9 and 10) this weekend !

I have some more listed to finish this weekend- with loads of watchers, so am hopeful... and have just put some more on to finish the next weekend.

Dunno why, but I really like putting things on for the full 10 days- is that weird?

TheNextMrsDepp · 07/10/2010 23:33

Oh, I MUST get my stuff listed! You lot are putting me to shame.

I downloaded Turbolister, had high hopes, but couldn't get it to work (wouldn't let me select the item specifics - e.g. size, brand). I got so hacked off I stuck the box of clothes under the desk and it's still there three weeks later!

Does TL actually work? Is it worth persisting? What am I doing wrong???

overthemill · 08/10/2010 12:12

oh my dh and dd are going to be sooo fed up! I'll be listing again all weekend then, it's the only way I can afford it!

Don't use turbo lister - just get everything photographed and uploaded onto PC, measure and detailed on a bit of paper on top of each thing and list in groups, eg all age 13's together, all size S together so I can just 'sell another' item straight after.

But it does feel great to get it all cleared and done!

mogs0 · 08/10/2010 12:42

Why do they give such short notice of free listing? Is it so that not too many people will have enough time to list a lot?

Also, did I read somewhere that you don't get the free listing if you use TL?

TheNextMrsDepp - I prefer using Turbo Lister. I often list a couple of items during the day then upload them in the evening when it's a better end time. I've been having a few problems with it this week but unistalled it a couple of times and reinstalled it and it seems to be ok now. I think I read on the ebay help pages that it's best to have nothing else open on your pc when using it - not sure how true that is though.

My bedroom is a tip because of all the clothes and other 'stuff' that I've pulled out of my wardrobe to ebay. I really must get it listed tonight/tomorrow.

Grufflemummy · 08/10/2010 12:56

Bah- I can't use turbolister, because I'm on a mac.

It does always seem really short notice, you're right mogs. I have noticed though a couple of years ago when they gave 2 weeks or so notice, you couldn't move for stuff being listed, things were so crammed that unless you were really specific with your searches you were just overwhelmed as a buyer. And of course, sellers didn't get that great prices either. (so less fees for ebay)

Got to go and do my photos now while baby naps - I hate this bit! I can never seem to get things looking how I want them. (ie like a store website!)

baabi · 08/10/2010 13:26

Can I join again. Managed to do about £300 in the Summer which was great spending money for the holidays. Started listing again but need some motivation! my items

Tortoise · 08/10/2010 14:16

overthemill · 09/10/2010 13:39

ok just done a load of stuff and now must have a break!
here's mine so far

notcitrus · 09/10/2010 14:13

After one lot of re-listing, have sold 15 of 20 items, mostly the cheap stuff, and got a grand total of £38.

Will try more listings tomorrow seeing as they're free again.

Have finally won a cotbed - MrNC is off to collect it. So £ -2 overall... :)

mogs0 · 09/10/2010 14:54

A few more but still got hundreds more to do!!

I listed one with TL and I got charged so am now listing directly through ebay.

I have lost interest for now though so will come back later and try to list more than 5 items then!!

Well done overthemill and notcitrus!

Tortoise · 09/10/2010 21:56

Overthemill Watching littest pets sets. Are they littlest pet shop ones? My DD1 is mad on LPS! Is the 1st line in the description a mistake cos it didn't make sense to me?
