ShittyBangBang · 20/11/2010 22:21

Oooo I am watching the Dora thing! Kids love Dora at the moment.

mogs0 · 21/11/2010 01:52

I don't believe it! The Monsoon shrug that I couldn't get rid of for 99p last year has just sold for £44 Shock. I'm a bit worried about what the buyer thinks they are getting for that price! Do I risk sending it recorded? P&P is only £2 because I never dreamed it would go above £41. So, out of 3 items ending tonight, all 3 sold for a total of £68.20. I'm so pleased!

I'm going to see what I can list tomorrow afternoon but have to ease of a bit - I think my ds is feeling a bit neglected because the last few weekend have been spent ebaying Sad. I'll split the profits of the shrug with him - that'll cheer him up Grin!

ShittyBangBang · 21/11/2010 07:34

I'd deff send it recorded Mogs it should be fine.

And well done!!!

FrameyMcFrame · 21/11/2010 08:47

Well done mogs on the shrug. All my items end this evening, I've got bids on most now but don't think I've made much as all the bids are around £2ish.
Inspired by this thread I've collected loads of Barbie clothes together from around the house and I have quite a lot, a lot of them are really old from the 80s when I was little, so I'm going to list them plus some baby clothes bundles tonight.

DirtyMartini · 21/11/2010 09:15

I've got a few things ending tonight, but only about £20 in bids so far (just kids' clothing etc).

Am going to list a Jaeger handbag and a Baby Bjorn Active sling this evening, along with anything else I can think of. Need to do some rifling in cupboards. We have just paid a phone bill and a power bill this morning and it has concentrated my mind wonderfully Hmm especially as Scottish Power have announced price increases in the offing.

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 21/11/2010 17:45

So far we've sold 28 of our listings ending tonight, DH panicking about how much packing and posting he has to do - that's his responsibility! Our stuff is here

FrameyMcFrame · 21/11/2010 23:00

All my items sold but one.
I can't believe I sold a dress for £26 that I thought I'd only get 99p for.
:)

DirtyMartini · 21/11/2010 23:02

Made about £25 tonight on what I sold, but had to relist about half my things - watchers but no bidders :(

I did get an email from someone who was intending to bid on a boys' coat and forgot because he got caught up in the X Factor :). Hopefully he'll bid now that I've re-listed it.

I never got around to listing my new items tonight -will have to be Tuesday now. How did you get on with the rest of your stuff tonight, Dinosaurs?

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 21/11/2010 23:35

Some of my items end tomorrow. Not looking good for any sales! Most don't even have one watcher. Oh well! Grin

clumsymumluckybaby · 21/11/2010 23:58

hi Grin
can i join you...really need some ideas for what to sell, doing mainly kids and babys clothes atm sold alot of buggys and big stuff like that in the past...what else sells well, and is it better to do auctions or buy it now do you think?!
Grin

oh and how do i stop spending all my profits on other stuff on ebay?GrinGrinGrin

armani · 22/11/2010 00:10

hi clumsy :)
im having the same problem, spending all of the money i make back on ebay! sone of my listings ended tonight and i made £78!! im very impressed with that{smile]

clumsymumluckybaby · 22/11/2010 00:15

ooohhh,nice,what did you sell? Grin

FrameyMcFrame · 22/11/2010 10:09

Hi clumsy, I'm quite new to the ebay thing too but so far I've found that adult clothes and toys have sold best. Next and Boden seem to sell very well.
Books don't seem to sell well at all.
Can you do a link to your stuff?

clumsymumluckybaby · 22/11/2010 10:10

ooh thanks,i'll try...

clumsymumluckybaby · 22/11/2010 10:11

here

clumsymumluckybaby · 22/11/2010 10:12

im going to add some new stuff tonight...think i'll try auctions this time...how does maternity sell? Smile

clumsymumluckybaby · 22/11/2010 10:14

is my b.i.n too high do you think?

FrameyMcFrame · 22/11/2010 12:09

I've sold a few maternity dresses, often sell well if you do bundles.
I don't really know about BIN as I always do auctions and start most of mine at 99p (unless it's something really expensive)
I would make sure that you put the size of clothes in the title line as then it comes up in more peoples search results.
I'm not an expert though! :)

Rosa · 22/11/2010 12:15

Can I ask your advice oh ebay experts. I have joined the selling side of things but I just don't seem to be having any luck. Sold a grobag but the other diddn't sell. Had lots of watchers then no bids, some items just diddn't sell ( brand new shoes, new fluffy slippers ...maybe I should wear and then re sell !) . Would the fact that items are overseas put you off ? My postage is not that high compared to UK rates usually about 50p-£1 more and I start things off at 99p apart from a new swatch that I started at £5 and it sold .....I have loads of things I want to get rid of ( grobags, winter kids snow suit, handbags, kids osh kish stuff and more) and I don't have a charity shop I can just dump them on if they don't sell. As long as I make a bit of money after fees / postage etc I will be happy but I seem to be just breaking even ....Advice anybody ?

FrameyMcFrame · 22/11/2010 13:22

Can you link to your listings?
Your postage sounds cheap to me, are you getting things in the right category?
I don't know what effect being abroad would have, hopefully some more experienced ebayers will be along soon.

DirtyMartini · 22/11/2010 13:27

Rosa, are you scheduling things so that your auctions end at busy times? That can help.

I've bought from abroad before, quite a few times, but only when it was an item unavailable in the UK. I don't have any problem with sellers being abroad, but if the item was something pretty basic, then yes I suppose it might discourage me slightly, simply because I'd think "Maybe I should just wait until a similar item pops up in the UK, postage will be cheaper" (I wouldn't necessarily do a detailed postage comparison, it would just be at the back of my mind iyswim). Sorry, that's probably not what you were hoping to hear!

But surely people local to you might buy -- and then it wouldn't matter?

DirtyMartini · 22/11/2010 13:29

btw, I am deffo not an expert either so perhaps you can safely ignore me! :)

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 22/11/2010 17:09

DM - we sold 32 things last night in the end, a few more ending tonight and then nothing else ending until next Sunday.

We have finally started to plough our way through all of the baby clothes and listed all the new prem baby stuff, now we are left with 6 carrier bags of decent baby clothes - which I shall bundle by age or I shall lose the will to live if I list them individually! We also have a load of maternity dresses and tops to go on tomorrow night. Fingers crossed that we'll have everything on by the 1st December :)

A tip for anyone listing toys and gift type things now and hoping to sell before Christmas - as we get closer to last posting day I'd suggest adding a sentence to all of your listings stating that so long as you get payment by XX Dec date you will endeavour to post to ensure delivery before Christmas. It may give you the edge over another listing, and I'm sure we all want to sell as much as possible now and not get stuck with listings in January - the worst month IME to sell on ebay.
Our stuff is here

clumsymumluckybaby · 22/11/2010 17:55

DHU i WANT that lactivist baby top! im watching it now...Grin

oh no,this threads supposed to help me SELL not buy more!!! aahhhhhhh

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 22/11/2010 22:05

I made a massive £13.63 tonight Hmm! Oh well!

Couple more items listed. 28 on Ebay at the moment. Some more soft toys to list over the coming days and a couple of clothes. Also an Adult Santa costume! Grin
