I think clothes sell for more if you have the measurements on the listing, some like me do press the back button if their are no measurements on the listing.

Some 2 year olds are not the same size as other 2 year olds etc., Like us with a fat ass, some of us can fit in a 12 some of us can't! :)

mygirllollipop · 08/11/2010 11:38

I agree with bumpybecky about the free listing weekend after next.
I NEVER list measurements of clothes! I have tons of clothes to list and have not got the time or patience. They are of pretty low value too so it's not worth my doing it!
I have 33 items on there after the free listing weekend and got £166.67 (before ebay fees) from the last free listing weekend, may make the £300 but don't think so!

PurpleFrog · 08/11/2010 13:30

I will list measurements of clothes if I feel they are bigger or smaller then the size marked on them would suggest.

I have also sold some "vintage" dresses and gave all the measurements for those as a modern size 14 is definitely not the same as one from the early eighties!

Lulabel27 · 08/11/2010 15:25

Hi All
Great tip about the scheduling thank you for that!
I just sold a load of old ferrari stuff of my DHs which I'm very pleased with. I've now raided DSDs cupboard and put a bundle on there - not sure how it'll sell? Can anyone give me any tips - link here

I had to put Freight as it wouldn't let me put postage over £4? We weighed it and think it'll cost £8 to post...

Lulabel27 · 08/11/2010 16:50

Also - what do you think of the photos? I'm taking the pictures on my iphone which is only 2megapixels as I can't find my camera battery charger :( Would I be better off not listing anything else until I find my proper camera do you think?

classydiva · 08/11/2010 18:50

The pictures are okay, there are postage caps.

It is to stop people overcharging on postage, you can use freight/courier option though to get around this.

interparcel.com do cheap rates for heavy items and they collect too.

one thing about clothe listings that peeve is when things are not ironed.

understand about the measurements but whilst things may sell, they may well sell for more with measurements.

just my opinion, and that of those who i see post on the community forums over there.

classydiva · 08/11/2010 18:51

Your pictures are okay. Just take them during the day in the light.

mogs0 · 08/11/2010 21:52

OMG - I am obsessed with checking my listings! My latest thing is to count the total number of watchers across the listings Blush - I really need to get a life or spend the time listing more crap little treasures!

blametheparents · 08/11/2010 22:20

mogs0, me too!
One of my items has 22 watchers! That's got to be good!

Lulabel27 · 09/11/2010 12:33

Thanks for your help guys. I think the daylight one is a good tip as I do find it tricky to get the pictures right with spotlights glaring on the items.

I will do measurements in the future, especially if its one or two items - measurements on that bundle would have taken me years!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 10/11/2010 00:15

Hi everyone

We made £158 (before fees) this weekend and have added some new things tonight All here. Tomorrow I have to start grouping the gazillions of baby and maternity clothes we have, ready to list on Sunday - [tedious emoticon] :)

mogs0 · 10/11/2010 12:36

Dino - Well done! I'm watching a couple of your items!!

freerangeeggs · 10/11/2010 21:33

Thanks bumpybecky! I'm completely new to this and have listed all the clothes from my last few wardrobe clearouts - quite embarrassing really, rather a lot of them still have tags on...

Mostly stuff in about the 10 - 14 size range, and lots of things from places like Topshop that have barely been worn. Chancing my arm with a couple of bits n bobs from primarni though :P

My stuff

mogs0 · 11/11/2010 15:17

I listed a few more things last night. Some items finished yesterday for a couple of quid. I got offered a really good price for one item so that's gone too!

Also, I have quite a few bids and lots of watchers so I'm hoping to hit the target when the next lot of stuff ends!!

I still have masses to list so will get to work tonight on it!

mygirllollipop · 11/11/2010 15:39

Well I have broken through the £200 barrier, doubt I'll make another £100 to reach target but it's gone towards DH's overdraft which I'm chuffed about.
So, another £98.97 to go for target!

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 11/11/2010 17:55

All my items end tonight.
9 out of 17 will sell so far. Some doing very well, others not as well as hoped! Hope for more last minute bidders later. Grin

blametheparents · 11/11/2010 20:33

All my items finish tomorrow night.
Wardrobe currently at £101 Grin
Only 2 items do not have bids, and they both have watchers so hopeful I will get rid of it all.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 11/11/2010 22:10

Only made £43 tonight but better than nothing.
DS2 got £41 for his faulty DS lite! And £12 for a PSP game so he is very happy! Grin

blametheparents · 12/11/2010 19:35

Got lots finishing tonight at about 9pm.
Fingers crossed for lots of bids

mogs0 · 12/11/2010 19:59

Good luck!!

I have a few finishing tomorrow then some more finishing next week.

I'm going on holiday at the end of the month so I've been trying to work out, in my head (never a good thing!), when is the last day I can start my auctions so that they're not ending while I'm away. Really, I need to get my diary out and a piece of paper!!

starrychime · 12/11/2010 20:10

Can I join - eBay virgin going to sign up tonight! Bit nervous though - the registration screen asks for home address - is this safe, and would you have a separate bank account when setting up Paypal? Sorry for all the questions but am determined to get a few hundred quid out of all the stuff in my house and hate giving personal details on t'internet!

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 12/11/2010 20:35

Starrychime All safe as far i know. Never had any problems using my normal bank account. Address will be needed for location in listings. Good luck. I remember being so scared when i first set up an Ebay selling account. Smile

blametheparents · 12/11/2010 22:17

Well, if everyone pays up then I've made £275 tonight!
Wardrobe went really well, hoping buyer turns up!
All clothes sold aswell, yay! Love having a good clearout!

DinosaursHateUnderpants · 12/11/2010 23:00

Have added a few new things tonight and nearly 100 items on the go now.

Loads more stuff to sell before Christmas - probably about 300 items in total and we're determined to get it all on in the next 2 weeks.

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/11/2010 13:52

I wonder what I am doing wrong? I have come to a virtual standstill with my sales - so far this week one item has sold for £3! Sad

I thought maybe it was the wrong time of year, but you all seem really pleased with your sales. Envy

On the plus side, I had a clear out of toys this week and found a few more things I can put up for sale, so maybe next week will be better. I still have £98 to go to reach the £300 target.
