I definitely know what you mean when something goes for more than I would have paid for it if it were me bidding.

Once I sold a Discman and i confess i hadn't tested it, anyway buyer complained it didn't work. I felt so awful about it! I refunded straight away and i think he was a bit thrown by my 'apologetic-ness' but i felt almost sick about it.

Well I got the train table for £72 - prob a crazy price but it was just around the corner for collection so worth an extra amount for that.

Think I may not get much done over half-term so will tackle the spare room next week when DS1 goes back to school.

ShirleyGarrote · 27/10/2010 09:38

Hello!

Well, I'm up to 98.97 before fees are taken out.

I'm quite pleased really, considering that the majority of the stuff I've got rid of would have just gone to dump.

I learned a very valuable lesson this weekend, and that is NOT to have 14 items scheduled to finish on the same day. Packing them all up and getting them to the PO was a NIGHTMARE (I work F/T as well) and so I have decided to never have more than 5 items finishing on any one day - I might lose a bit for not finishing on weekends, but blimey! (I was sick at the weekend though, don't know if I was just feeling wussy as I shoved yet another garment into a jiffy bag)

Having my loft cleared out this week ready for it to be boarded out - have been warned that there are about 40 black bags up there Shock Should have some interesting stuff to list!

baabi · 27/10/2010 09:48

I have tons of things that need to go but just can not get motivated so it is going really slowly. Anyway here are my last offerings

notcitrus · 27/10/2010 14:09

If anyone's selling furniture can I plead with you to list the dimensions of the item, what it's made of, and where exactly you are - 'London' doesn't tell me whether it would be 5 minutes or 2 hours to come and collect it!

Spent half of last weekend contacting sellers asking all of those questions... sadly the lovely chest just up the road went for way more than I could afford.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 27/10/2010 14:57

Doing ok on my items so far. Most have at least 1 watcher.
Barbie bundle has 11 watchers and is up to £4.20. Grin

Have an ELC wooden skull island to list at some point. Looks like it should make around £10-£18.
Also going to list DS2's fauly DS. It keeps turning itself off.

ShirleyGarrote · 27/10/2010 21:18

I have to tell you all about my fabulous loft trove...

I found an original Girl's World from the early 80's. Still in it's original box.

I can't tell you how gutted I was when I took the disembodied head out of the box (which still had the original curlers in) only to find that my 9 year old self had committed an act of VANDALISM upon it. I had painted an Adam Ant stripe across her innocent little nose (IN NAIL VARNISH) and painted a goatee and moustache on her delicate visage.

An hour of baby wiping has helped the poor head not one whit and she has been relegated to the bin.

Oh, how I hate 9 year old me. So many ebayable things in such dire condition...

Grin
JustKeepSparkling · 27/10/2010 21:22

Oh dear Shirley :(

You did try nail polish remover right? if it's heading for the bin anyway try other stuff, glue remover/white spirit/etc?

ShirleyGarrote · 27/10/2010 22:14

Yes. She seemed to be the victim of a terrible head "incident" anyway because there was a massive dent in the back of her head and DS1 said said "Why does her face look all crushed in?"

She'd had it. Poor old head. Sad

It's very odd looking at stuff from your childhood - I've just found a bunch of Sindy stuff and have been actually cooing over the dresses and DRESSING GOWNS.

Will upload to profile - these babies aren't going on ebay - not until I die anyway!

DrMcDreamy · 28/10/2010 16:42

Hi ladies, I'm gutted I've only just found this thread, I'm about 49p off my own personal eBay challenge of £300, I'm upping that target to £500 quid now to see if I can pay for Christmas fully from the proceeds! (Pretty much have to as completely skint!!) Hope you don't mind my linking to my items... (I do intend to participate fully in this thread now I have found it!)

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 28/10/2010 20:21

DrMcDreamy Have done a few of these threads now [hsmile]. Good luck with your £500 target. I stupidly haven't been keeping track of my exact amount made. 6 out of 21 have a bid.

HannahHack · 29/10/2010 10:10

Hello all, started the target a bit late, but Amazon and Ebay combined I already have about £50 in a week and have a load of stuff with watchers on Ebay yet to go.

How do you link to the list of stuff you are selling btw Wink?

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 29/10/2010 12:34

Barbies are up to £13 [hshock]!

FrameyMcFrame · 29/10/2010 15:46

Hi all, can I join in your thread?
I wasn't planning on raising £300, just a little bit to go towards Christmas pressies. But £300 is a good target! :)

Here are my listings ebay

I think I need a few tips on how to set out a listing as mine look a bit crap and unprofessional in comparison to most!

I'm now going to search the house for more things to sell. Grin

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 29/10/2010 16:00

Framey I think your listings look fine. Good clear pictures. Are you smoke free/pet free home? I always add that i am a smoke free home because i personally would prefer to buy from someone who doesn't smoke. Smile
You could maybe use a different or bigger font for the description. Don't think it makes any difference though. Smile

FrameyMcFrame · 29/10/2010 16:03

oh yes I could add that, good idea! :)
Thanks for the tips.
Hope I get some bidders soon, it's very exciting!

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 29/10/2010 20:57

I can't stop checking my items!
Barbies are now on £16 with 16 watchers! Shock

JustKeepSparkling · 29/10/2010 21:03

Tortoise Grin i am obsessive about checking my selling items!

FrameyMcFrame · 29/10/2010 21:25

I'm obsessively checking mine now too! I have 11 watchers on one of my items! Shock

SNOWBall4girlz · 30/10/2010 15:24

hi there everyone :)
finally got to revising and updating my auctions.
I have 40 items on now,
£11.29 fees, and
£140 in paypal and about five items with bidders so hoping not everyone is out for halloween tonight.
my stuff here

Dumbledoresgirl · 30/10/2010 16:16

HannahHack - to show all your listings here, there is probably an easier way of doing it, but what I do is go to "my ebay" and click on my name (where it shows your feedback score). This then takes you to your feedback page and on the left is a column showing some of the things you are selling. At the bottom of that column is a link "show my listings" (or something like that). Click on that and there will your page of listings which you can then link to here by clicking on the url and linking as per the MN instructions at the bottom of this page.

I bet that is as clear as mud! Anyone else want to explain how they do it?

BTW, I didn't think I would do well this week and I went away for a couple of days anyway, so didn't think about my ebay sales, but I came back to find I was doing rather well. My overall sales are now up to £169.

SNOWBall4girlz · 30/10/2010 16:22

That is how I link I paste the url when on my selling page in ebay.

Well done dumbledores I am having a night in tomorrow curtains closed lights off .......listing and relisting lol using the last of my free 99p starts :)

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 31/10/2010 09:12

my items all ending tonight. Hoping for more bids! DS2 is hoping for some late bids on his PSP which has none yet.

Grufflemummy · 31/10/2010 09:19

Hmm... mine aren't going that well this week- 1 item doesn't even have any watchers Sad
Maybe it's quiet because of half term?

My feedback just hit 666 though- which is funny on Hallowe'en!! [hgrin]

Dumbledoresgirl · 31/10/2010 09:22

That's cool Grufflemummy! Grin

Or spooky.....
