Ooooh that is spooky Gruffle [hgrin].

notcitrus · 31/10/2010 14:43

Oh arse. The only item that actually sold for anything hasn't been received. Buyer chased the sorting office who didn't have it. The Recorded Signed For site says
" Your item with reference xxx is being returned to sender.

This is either because the item wasn?t picked up by the recipient, or because we couldn't deliver it. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please allow for at least two days before tracking the return of your item. "

What do I do now?? Wait for it to turn up, I guess, but then what? Can I claim 'compensation for delay' and then resend - should I ask the buyer to pay for that and refund after RM refund me?

Actually, very hacked off atm - numpty cot-seller doesn't want to refund but has put new bolts in the post - after MrNC bought some himself. And a courier was meant to collect item for us and deliver by noon. Still hasn't confirmed collection but said was running 90 min late 3 hours ago. Thank fuck for CBeebies...

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 31/10/2010 16:40

Oh no Notcitrus, what a pain. I would wait for the item to arrive back with you and see if it says a reason for return. Double check you put the address right too. Best you can do is ask the buyer if they want it re-sent. If it was their fault it wasn't collected from PO then they should pay postage.

notcitrus · 31/10/2010 16:56

Will do Tortoise. Dresser just delivered, only 5 hours late...

mygirllollipop · 31/10/2010 20:34

Oh pants, my auctions finish an hour earlier due to the clocks going back! I wanted them to finish after 8.30 so that's when I started them but now they say they will finish at 7.36pm - grr.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 31/10/2010 21:18

I had the same problem but things still sold OK. DS2 got £50 for his PSP and DS1 got £25 for his mobile phone.
Barbie bundle old for an amazing £36. I am stunned that an old pile of dolls could make so much. [hgrin]

bumpybecky · 31/10/2010 21:30

argh! what a frustrating weekend :(

Virgin have had major issues, so no TV, phone or internet from Saturday afternoon until about 15 mins ago and I had auctions ending! By the time I manage to get back in there are a while load of questions from potential buyers, all too late as the listings have all ended.

My car seat and base sold for £57 :) but the top bidder lives miles away so what's the betting he didn't read the collection in person bit? :(

I listed it as collection in person as I didn't want to post a car seat and base as they are heavy and I didn't want to guarantee it wouldn't get bashed about and it's a baby car seat! so what should I do oh wise ones? pack it up as best I can and hope for the best with their courier? offer to second best bidder (who also doesn't live locally) or relist?

argh!

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 31/10/2010 21:36

bumpybecky Oh no, sounds like a right pain in the bum. If 2nd chance bidder not local either i think i would re-list. Unless you have a really good strong box and lots of bubble wrap or packaging to protect it.

bumpybecky · 31/10/2010 21:45

I could probably find a box, doubt we've got that much bubble wrap though and to be honest, if I wanted that much hassle I'd have listed it for courier delivery in the first place!

I wasn't expecting top money for it as it was collection only, bet it would have gone higher if I'd offered a courier.

Well done on the Barbies though :) we've got some in the loft too, with matted hair any everything! maybe I should dig them out....

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 31/10/2010 21:47

Worth a try, not sure about matted hair though lol!

I made £70 tonight. Not too bad. ALl helps towards Christmas!

mogs0 · 01/11/2010 00:02

I sold a massive 2 items tonight! (I did only have 2 listed mind!! Grin)

I need a kick up the arsesome encouraging to get listing! The novelty seems to be wearing off for me but I have so much to list, and like the mess in my house, I just don't know where to start Sad.

Also, the problems with my PP account are stressing me out. The lady at PP today said that whoever used my account yesterday had my password so at the top of my list of things to do tomorrow is to change all passwords on all accounts.

Mygirl - I had the same problem too and it took a while before I realised why they were finishing early!

Tort - great price for barbies - I would mention it my Mum if I didn't think she'd turn up with a car load of 30 year old toys for me to ebay! Having said that, she is thinking of opening an ebay account of her own - I might have to pop round and show her how to sell Grin.

bumpy - maybe they have someone nearer to pick it up from you. I once had someone travel about 75 miles (each way) to pick up a double buggy.

mogs0 · 01/11/2010 00:04

Doh, comma in the wrong place! I meant I don't know where to start with the listings aswell as the mess in my house, NOT that I like the mess in my house!

Time for bed!!

bumpybecky · 01/11/2010 08:16

I've had a message from the car seat buyer and it seems they do intend to collect it :) fingers crossed it all happens!

bumpybecky · 01/11/2010 08:17

forget to say....

I've got a big pile of parcels to post later on :) I've remembered it's 1st Nov though, so Post Office will be full of car tax people :( better take provisions for dd3 & ds who will be coming with me!

JustKeepSparkling · 01/11/2010 08:37

I had someone come from the Midlands to the SE to collect a double buggy. mad people Grin

DS1 still has a couple of days on Inset so not going to restart listing until he's back at school & I can concentrate. Am gathering bits as i see them though.
(and keep finding new bits i want to buy too!)

Saltire · 01/11/2010 09:23

Do you mind fi I ask a question?

I have a boy's winter coat, which I was going to put on ebay. We bought it in an outdoor shop in the Lakes a few years ago, and it's been well worn by both Dses.
I was going to put it on ebay but noticed there is a slight tear where the hood is. it's one of those hoods that folds up into the collar and the tear is there. It doesn't affect the coat in anyway, but I am wondering if it would be as well just tkaing it to a charity shop?

bumpybecky · 01/11/2010 09:31

I'd give it a go on eBay, but make sure you describe the fault and take a good picture of it

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 01/11/2010 11:08

Worth giving it a go, i have a boys coat to list that used to have one of those fold in hoods but it got ripped off at school! Still a lovely coat so hopefully will get a few quid for it!

FrameyMcFrame · 01/11/2010 12:42

OOOH my auctions finish in an hour and the bidding's hotting up! I have bids on all my stuff apart from one so I'm happy.
I never thought of calculating when to end my auctions but it's a good idea and I'll do that with my next items.
This thread is a mine of information :)

GeorgeWBush · 01/11/2010 13:52

Ohh this is addictive.

Only started yesterday and made £45.

here's my listings so far have some more stuff to put on when I get round to it!

I've put a pair of boots in a canvas bag and then wrapped in parcel paper, is that OK?

PurpleFrog · 01/11/2010 14:28

GeorgeWBush - I would expect boots to be in a box to protect them, well padded with bubble wrap etc..

higgle · 01/11/2010 16:00

I sold my first lot yesterday - £206 for 7 items from my wardrobe that were either too big or unworn for a year. I have another 15or so items to sell - not quite surch good ones, but reckon I'l be at £300 from them after fees etc. It really is nerve wracking though worrying if the buyers will like the things they have bought, won't feel I've achieved anything until all the feedback is in.

FrameyMcFrame · 01/11/2010 18:22

well I've made £50 so far not inc p&p. I'm pleased:)
Only £250 to go.

GruesomeShellChillingTortoise · 02/11/2010 09:27

I'm going to attempt to do some listing tonight but i have a poorly DD2 so i will see if i get time!

Lulabel27 · 02/11/2010 16:47

Hi! Can I join in? I've just sold a broken iphone which I thought was worthless for £140, I'm gobsmacked but not getting too excited until the buyer leaves good feedback!
Have some more things on there at the moment like DSD's clothes (very unworn as she's only with us every other weekend) and some of DH's stuff which he says I can have to sell Grin
Fingers Crossed!
