There are quite a lot of football fans on MN, and also loads of football-haters. If we hide here in Dadsnet, none of the detractors will find us. But if they do, they are welcome to come here and moan.

You don?t have to be male to post here, of course. (No-one would say women can?t post in the Dadsnet section, just like no woman would EVER say men aren?t welcome on Mumsnet?)

Footy fans please sign in with

I've a feeling he will stick with Young and Milner to begin with. But Carroll and Rooney in a 4-4-2.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 20/06/2012 21:26

I have not kept track of it too well as have been working so have missed a lot of the pundit talk. Milner didn't look too good last night.

Pan · 23/06/2012 12:13

I need help, after this conversation with dd last week:

Me: So who are you supporting tonight?
DD: Daddy. I have no interest in football. It has no part in my life.
Me: Really? But suppose Russia win? (where we collect £24 each)
DD: Well in that case I'd be really interested in football.

Sad Is there a suitable Helpline?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/06/2012 17:57

Oh dear! You need to bribe her to go to games then she will get the bug.
DD aged 2.5 commentates , including "For God's sake" at missed shots.

Pan · 23/06/2012 18:34

KDDD. You don't know my dd. You cant bribe, bully, manipulate, cajole, mither, blackmail, trick, embarrass, or in any way compromise her. Don't think I haven't tried!
Yr1 parents evening, 5 yo: "Hmm. your daughter looks like an angel. Yet she is as hard as nails." I thought 'yep, that's about it'.

I should meet our old friend Acceptance.Grin

Does your dd call the off side decisions as well??

KenDoddsDadsDog · 23/06/2012 18:45

Hard as nails Grin
She just shouts "Get up man" and "Run"

CurrySpice · 23/06/2012 19:30

My DDs show no interest either Sad

Pan · 24/06/2012 18:17

BB's quite.

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 18:44

I am quite WHAT?

Quite looking forward to the match?
Quite pissed on Pimms and Spaghetti already?
Quite gorgeous?

All of the above?

OP posts:
Pan · 24/06/2012 18:50

HA!

quiet

yes ALL of the above. As a Scot of Irish lineage I'm strangely getting a few butterflies....

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 19:19

Not sure one can be pissed on Spaghetti, but why not theme my consumption around these matches?

BBC's coverage slightly better than usual hitherto in Euro 2012.

Bit tired of hearing Keano on ITV talking of passion and commitment and hunger, like he had just invented them. You also need guile, patience and nouss.
As for Carragher...

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/06/2012 19:42

Well, DD is waving an England flag sitting on the toilet, Irish DH is drinking beer and I am strangely nervous.

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 19:52

Got to take your chances!

Joe Hart is my favourite England player. John Terry my least, obviously. But there's no denying Terry's played well this tournament.

I saw Cashley Cole interviewed the other day. Normally despise him but he was really nice. Surprising.

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 20:14

Yeah, he's doing himself some favours these days.

OP posts:
BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 20:15

He gave me some good nights as an Arsenal fan.

And some good chants when he became a Chavski player.

Pan · 24/06/2012 20:40

just how sharp is this knife edge?

Danny needs to close down more.

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 21:04

Danny's off now, for a ... blunter approach

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 21:29

Rooney has been average. Wasn't he the saviour?

OP posts:
Pan · 24/06/2012 21:37

Lordy.

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 21:51

Have England got another sub to come on?

They need to get rid of this Man Utd dross.

OP posts:
Pan · 24/06/2012 21:54

Steady.

BelfastBloke · 24/06/2012 21:56

You're very taciturn tonight, Pan?
