I'm all over the place today, posted this in the GC thread instead of this actually relevant thread and then was like wheres my post

The indo has posted an exit poll but its one they did by text message at 9.30 the day of the vote and then ran the results through chatgpt

"As recrimination over the Government’s campaign gets under way, the exit poll also reveals that on the care proposal, a majority of Sinn Féin (88pc), Fianna Fáil (71pc) Independent (94pc), Social Democrats (70pc) and Solidarity/PBP (83pc) supporters voted No. In contrast, a majority of Fine Gael (51pc) and Green Party (53pc) supporters voted Yes. Labour Party supporters, meanwhile, were split down the middle (50pc).
On the family amendment, the exit poll found Sinn Féin (78pc), Fianna Fáil (76pc) and Independent (90pc) supporters again voted No and a majority of Fine Gael (53pc), Greens (60pc), Labour (67pc), Social Democrats (58pc) and Solidarity/PBP (83pc) voted Yes.
A majority of women, men, middle-class and working-class voters across all age groups voted No in both referendums."

And so here come the conspiracy theorists pointing the finger at the "far right"! 😁

It really is horseshoe theory how many people engage in paranoia and conspiracy theories which they claim the "far right" also engage in

StephanieSuperpowers · 10/03/2024 11:20

In reality, the paranoia about the far right is probably justified. If the 70% plus of people across the country and all demographics who voted no on Friday are far right, they (we?) really are out there and a proper threat to the plan.

I'm still waiting for the cheque from the far right funders in the US. Do you think maybe they have the wrong address for me?

StephanieSuperpowers · 10/03/2024 11:30

Probably. Not great at the bookkeeping, our fash overlords.

miri1985 · 10/03/2024 11:31

The moneys probably all tied up in Russia or something

QuiZZ · 10/03/2024 11:32

Chat GPT seems like a good bet for information (from all angles) come the next election.

The humans are useless at that.

This really brightened up my morning. Panti cancelled 😂
Happy Mothers Day 💐🍾🥂

There's something very unsettling about how integrated Panti Bliss is with this government....he's a total misogynist.

As predicted the British press aren't mincing their words but at least Varadker is getting the brunt of it not us critical thinking electorate 😁

Oof!

VoteNONO · 10/03/2024 18:44

Statement from The Ditch. Again the government is blaming everyone else but themselves.

I'm not familiar with The Ditch

VoteNONO · 10/03/2024 19:05

@janejeffer they were the publication who leaked the Attorney General advice that O Gorman was hiding. They leaked it the day before the election

OP posts:
3timeslucky · 10/03/2024 20:44

They're a bit marmite and they can certainly appear to be more targeted than they imply when they paint themselves as "just good journalists".

In this case there has been no questioning of the veracity of what they printed. And I think they're correct - the issue isn't that they printed this, the issue isn't that it was leaked (though the govt seems to think that is what needs investigated). The issue is that this was not released to the public and even worse, that govt ministers misrepresented the content to the public.

JaneJeffer · 10/03/2024 21:06

Yes that's far more troubling than the fact that they published it!

VoteNONO · 10/03/2024 21:16

Roderic wants an investigation into who in Govt leaked it... Maybe just maybe he should have leaked it to the public in the first instance 🤷
He knew there was no way the electorate would back it once they read the AG advice so he attempted to bury it instead!

OP posts:
DublinFemale · 10/03/2024 21:41

Looking back this was no win situation for government,

Release the documents and people will say no.

Don't release them, don't answer any questions with substance and we say no.

They did these and have already moved on the blame game.

DublinFemale · 10/03/2024 21:44

I can't figure out was it leaked to strengthen government case re emigration or was it leak by someone wanted it to fail.

I do not for a second believe everyone in Leinster House voted in favour.

VoteNONO · 10/03/2024 21:48

I'd love to know too, was there someone in the Dáil with critical thinking who realised the implications at the 9th hour in relation to care?
I'm personally hoping it was a woman td who just could not have it on her conscious to have women & mothers erased from the constitution.

The entitlement of O Gorman to want an investigation into how it was leaked is astounding. No apologies , nothing just pushing the blame & pointing the finger.

Leo voting, accompanied by Senator Mary Seery Kearney, on a Referendum to change to the definition of family.
Anyone else wondering about this?
Why did he choose this Senator to accompany him?

Edited

The usual optics at how progressive he is.

Although it is Leo and he makes Bertie seem like an amateur I. The conniving stakes.

festivefavorites · 10/03/2024 22:31

The usual optics at how progressive he is.

Hardly as progressive as he thinks.
Surrogacy was banned in India to reduce the exploitation of poor and uneducated birthing bodies women by wealthy westerners.
Removing the word mother from the Constitution while simultaneously redefining the definition of a family 🤔
