Catherine Connolly deserves her due too. She has been incredibly clear, intelligent and dignified in her arguments against these amendments.

Has Mary Lou? She must be absolutely kicking herself for not opposing it. SF would be swinging from the rafters tonight if they had as they could claim it as their victory and immediately call for an election.

I don't think so. I must look back over all the days events. Hopefully not, 23 million was a huge waste of money for a referendum the public weren't calling for...

Nearly all in on the care one now. 33 out of 39 constituencies declared! Nearing 75%, one of our most resounding referendums ever!

https://www.rte.ie/news/referendum-40th-amendment/results/#/national

The one Yes constituency (Dunlaoighre) voted No on this one. This is even more of a landslide!

Oh the usual namechanger has appeared on the other thread. Strange how some people get their kicks.

Have they been on this or other thread?

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2024 20:33

The other thread @DublinFemale but maybe they're here as well under one of their 1000 names Wink

@flounder per chance? Thought I recognised her turn of word on the old thread?

Interesting that the Ulster counties are even more 'no' than the rest of us in both referendums.

Heartwarming to see Michael McDowell celebrating tonight 😊

RO'G now saying that the leak about the Attorney General's advice needs to be investigated. As if that's the real problem here...

VoteNONO · 09/03/2024 20:39

@HornyHornersPinkyWinky well the Dáil was empty for his International Women's Day speech could be any of them🤣🤣
His level of entitlement knows no bounds, my word.
Just when we thought he couldn't get more arrogant, he announced this!

I am guessing who it is appears to be the lone voice claiming Irish are afraid of change and didn't understand it

He is pissed it was leaked during the moratorium.

That was easily solved, release the documents from start and deal with queries and questions

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2024 20:50

@DublinFemale they keep saying I'm Irish every second post 😂

Gotcha.

Are they a regular changer.

Still finding my, mainly a lurker.

DeanElderberry · 09/03/2024 20:52

afaicr Roscommon was the only county against SS marriage. Not sure about repeal.

Why am I thinking Donegal voted against some referendum?

I could have dreamt it

DublinFemale · 09/03/2024 20:58

This referendum has really been enlightening, the yes vote appeared to be so strong.

But it appears most voters played there cards close to their chests.

I suppose more evidence of how much the public feel silenced

DeanElderberry · 09/03/2024 20:59

No, you're right, it was the Repeal one

https://www.rte.ie/news/eighth-amendment/results/#/

and it was Roscommon South Leitrim who voted against equal marriage

I've name changed since & am on the other thread too, I do change pretty regularly tbh. But I don't announce my nationality, my names usually give me away I'd say 😉

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2024 21:01

I can't deal with them any more. It's the same oul shite every time.

@DublinFemale I think it appeared so strong as all the political party's backed it barr Aontú & some independents, lots of NGOs, the majority of mainstream media, RTÉ & Virgin were very biased to the Yes side so it appeared to have depth & strength... They really were out of touch with the majority of the electorate. Us taxpayers have spent 23 million on the biggest waste of time..

OP posts:
DublinFemale · 09/03/2024 21:08

It was a pretty low turnout, I wonder if people didn't bother voting as they had no clue what it was about.

Those who did and did their own research said nope, nada, not a chance.

VoteNONO · 09/03/2024 21:11

Any sign of Helen McEntee today?
