Have we any update on the little girl and the career?

3luckystars · 04/12/2023 13:00

There is no mention or update on any news anymore. I hope they all survive.

DeanElderberry · 04/12/2023 13:29

There was a brief thing this morning, comment from her mother - that she's still in a critical condition but is a fighter (or some such wording). It sounded very marginally more hopeful.

Wakemeuuuup · 04/12/2023 14:02

I hope she's starting to improve 🙏

LadyEloise1 · 21/12/2023 08:27

Any update on the wee girl and the creche worker Leanne who tried to protect her ?

DeanElderberry · 21/12/2023 10:15

The last I heard ( a week or so back) the parents were hoping the child would be out of ICU by the end of the year. Hopeful, but clearly indicative of how very badly she was injured. Not sure about the carer.

LadyEloise1 · 21/12/2023 10:23

I was hoping they could spend Christmas at home. Sad

DeanElderberry · 21/12/2023 10:33

Me too. Apart from home being best anyway, particularly at Christmas, hospitals are so full of infections this winter.

Chickenkeev · 21/12/2023 11:17

The hospitals do a great job for kids at christmas, they really do. So if the little girl does have to be there, she'll be well looked after.

DeanElderberry · 21/12/2023 11:27

Oh I know that, but it's not something any family hopes for.

Back in the 80s i spent a christmas in temple street, they gave me a thing called the cottage kids. It was a cardboard house and a boy and girl doll type things. I still have them now. (Sorry, you just reminded me of them!)

DisquietintheRanks · 21/12/2023 11:34

That poor child to be so badly injured. How will she even begin to process it? And the carer is unable to return to work due to her injuries 😔

Chickenkeev · 21/12/2023 11:36

Does anyone know what the story is with them? I haven't seen or heard a thing.

DeanElderberry · 21/12/2023 11:58

I don't know is it just respect for the privacy of the people injured, or whether there's an element of not wanting discussion of the case before the trial. I haven't yet heard whether they've charged the person who carried out the attack - he did regain consciousness, but may also be too ill to be questioned. One of many reasons why battering him round the head was a bad thing to do.

I suppose yeah, the trial is probably the reason. Will be keeping the victims in my thoughts for the Christmas anyway.

Hollyhobbi · 21/12/2023 15:02

Well RTE is supposed to be accurate! Seriously is a bit better than critically ill but still very bad.

Chickenkeev · 21/12/2023 15:14

It's a long time to be seriously ill.

DeanElderberry · 21/12/2023 15:28

They don't use the phrase 'life altering injuries' as much as they used to (probably because they know how much lives are altered by being subject to violent assault no matter what has been physically damaged), but none of those people will be the same again. It's terrifying how much harm was done so quickly.

I

Wakemeuuuup · 21/12/2023 18:06

Glad to hear he's been charged at last.

My thoughts and prayers are with the the girl and lady and their families

I assume if the family wanted to go public they could.

Abhannmor · 22/12/2023 13:21

Is there still a crowd funder for the victims? I haven't contributed yet.

Villagetoraiseachild · 22/12/2023 21:08

Thanks for the update.
Hoping for the best for them.❤

Goneback2school · 22/12/2023 21:21

It was on the radio this evening that the child has been moved from ICU to a ward today.
