Willie O'Dea correctly called out Helen McEntee earlier this year when he said she should focus on tackling crime instead of playing to the woke gallery. She's got to be one of the worst performing TD's of all time.

If their first thought wasn’t sadness for those poor children but how they can use it for their own purposes…I have no words to describe them.

Who exactly do they want ‘out’?!

Exactly. From a country with an absolutely massive diaspora. The absolute cheek/ignorance of it. Get to fuck like.

AnImaginaryCat · 23/11/2023 18:19

Apparently there is serious disorder on Parnell now.

People attacking emergency response vehicles. (Think they are home grown though Trace68 so I guess it's not an issue.)

Jesus, what is the point im attacking emergency vehicles? That's awful.

AnImaginaryCat · 23/11/2023 19:03

I don't know. Attaching emergency response workers or vehicles is something I've never able to understand the mentality of.

In this case it appears to be because the Garda betrayed the country or something along those lines.

Ultimately it looks like people out to cause violence for the sake of violence. Ana appear to be those that who cause the most issues in the city centre.

Alsonification · 23/11/2023 19:04

City centre is locked down. The far right heads are frothing at the mouth now. It's terrifying & horrifying how they use this tragedy for their own agenda.

I hope those little kids & the lady are ok. Apparently she was a crèche worker. God love them.

This time last year my ds was doing a night course in the city. Im so glad he's not now. I wouldn't be going near the place!

Alsonification · 23/11/2023 19:07

Can I also just add, god help the gardaí tonight. My brother in law is one of them & im worried for him. It's going to be a scary night.

JaneJeffer · 23/11/2023 19:10

Setting cars on fire is really going to help matters Hmm

I hope those people will be ok.

AnImaginaryCat · 23/11/2023 19:11

"Lunatic hooligan fraction driven by far right ideology" as just described on RTE. Who are ruining the gathering of evidence.

It's so upsetting that these people are using such a tragic incident to cause trouble. It's bad enough without them making it for their own entertainment and agenda.

Elvanseshortage · 23/11/2023 19:12

@Trace68 are you Irish? I cannot get my head around Irish racism AT ALL. Have you not heard about the prejudice the Irish suffered in England and elsewhere? The 'no dogs, no blacks, no Irish' signs? You surely must have had a relative who suffered that. And it is exactly the mentality you are displaying.

Pablova · 23/11/2023 19:17

Those poor poor children.

Absolute disgusting behaviour from the baying mob.
Shame on them.
Nothing but thugs who will use any excuse to cause mayhem for their own disgusting racist agenda.

Totally agree.

I hate what Ireland has become. Some of these racists have very short memories.

PopcornAndGummyBears · 23/11/2023 19:23

Heartbreaking. As someone from the north who now has a son living in Dublin, this is horrifying. I know Dublin has its issues, but I honestly never thought I would see this kind of violence against the emergency services in the way we see it up here.

Mindless thugs - let’s not give them credence by calling them anything other than mindless thugs.

EdgarsTale · 23/11/2023 19:24

Algerian attacker apparently. That’s why people are kicking off.

This shit gives me the absolute rage. Is PP so embarassingly ignorant of their own history? Or just entirely ignorant of history in general? We welcome people in this country, as we needed once to be welcomed and accepted ourselves. Anyone with a modicum of knowledge of irish history knows this.

AInightingale · 23/11/2023 17:07

I'd imagine the protestors are angry because the migrants are unvetted.

But no one walking on Parnell Sq or any other public area is vetted. The fact that someone is born outside Ireland doesn’t mean they need to be vetted to walk about the place.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 23/11/2023 19:33

this has been bubbling with years so it should surprise nobody.

It's not why. It's the excuse.

These are the scum of Dublin. Angry It's not an Irish man stabbing people.

This.

My thoughts are with those who were injured today in this horrific attack.

Miss93 · 23/11/2023 19:40

Well what's happening today proves otherwise.
There are yobs using this as an excuse to kick off, but Sweden warned us and we didn't listen.

I'm Irish,I live in Dublin actually not too far from Parnell.
But something has to be done.
We can't let unvetted men in,we have to put our own safety first.

That's not being racist, that's just having common sense.

lesdeluges · 23/11/2023 19:40

Sorry to hear of this awful incident, and hopefully all those attacked will be ok. It is said that the incident arose out of a custody issue with a child or children. I don't know, it's only what I read online. The man apprehended was in his 50s so given that the parents of the injured children have been informed, I wonder what his relationship is to the parents/kids. Maybe a grandparent? I dunno.

The worrying thing is the way the riots are unfolding. Police cars on fire, individual police attacked and kicked/beaten. It's dark out there now so it could escalate. Hope all will calm down though.

I agree (as do many many others) that Macker has to go. Hopefully she will resign tonight or tomorrow. Varadker needs to sack her if she doesn't go herself. I was so enraged when she had the nerve to say that Talbot Street (where another awful attack happened recently) and Dublin in general was as safe as houses, all the while she was walking around with five or six police escorts. WTAF? Does she think everyone is stupid or what?

The Garda Commish needs to take control and get the cops out on the streets. Visible policing not reactive policing would help enormously I think. I can't tell you the number of times I have heard that people can walk from Stephen's Green to O'Connell Street and never see a cop EVER.

I don't live in Dublin but am Irish. Hope the kids are ok, I am just so fed up of all the attacks, reaction, inaction and labelling of everyone who has a view as Right Wing. Sure way to shut down discussion, but look what's happening in the Netherlands, and Italy, and France is probably next. I dunno, it's awful really, and seems like the end of an age of innocence or something.

derxa · 23/11/2023 19:46

Shocking incident

WaveyGodshawk · 23/11/2023 19:54

It is horrific.
My heart goes out to everyone involved and also who witnessed this, so traumatising.
Scumbags rioting just taking advantage - there's been a Luas set on fire now, as well as Garda being attacked. It's truly sickening

If I never hear the phrase unvetted men again it will be too soon.
The problem is violent men - a violent man stabbing 4 people, and more violent men rioting.
