All the best for 2023!

Taytocrisps · 01/01/2023 10:01

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for your company these last few years and especially during the bleak Covid years.

honeyrider · 01/01/2023 10:58

Happy New Year.

HilarysMantelpiece · 01/01/2023 11:35

Happy New Year craicnetters!
What are the plans for today?

I plan to do a nice roast dinner, planning a simple victoria sponge for sweet. I'll do a batch of granola while the oven is on. If the teens ever get out of bed, I'll do a round of sheet washing, and might travel to see my sister this evening (depends on how glued to the couch I get when I sit after dinner).

honeyrider · 01/01/2023 11:57

I'm starting back on the 100 days of walking as I'd been walking every day until a couple of months ago then only doing the occasional walk.

JaneJeffer · 01/01/2023 11:59

Baa baa Fuzzy have you any wool?

HilarysMantelpiece · 01/01/2023 12:22

100 days of walking sounds like a great challenge! That would bring me to early April with a solid goal achieved for the year.
I think I will join you honeyrider. Did you do it through the app, or just your own recording?

honeyrider · 01/01/2023 12:29

My own recording, I use fitbit, didn't realise there's an app for the 100 days of walking.

Only black wool ;)

Happy New Year everyone and thanks for your company these last few years and especially during the bleak Covid years.

Absolutely, Taytocrisps. I appreciated it too. Onwards and upwards. May we have a good year ahead of us.

LadyEloise1 · 01/01/2023 15:25

I think I'll do the 100 Days of Walking too. Great idea @honeyrider.
Poor Dr Ciara Kelly who promotes it on Newstalk has psoriatic arthritis which must be really painful and she too intends to restart it again. If she can do it, suffering pain, I should get up off my ar*e and do it.

eggandonion · 02/01/2023 13:35

Today is Monday but it feels like Tuesday.

eggandonion · 02/01/2023 13:35

Today is Monday but it feels like Tuesday.

I totally agree.

JaneJeffer · 02/01/2023 17:26

I have no idea what day it is anymore.

eggandonion · 02/01/2023 17:36

I have attached go to work tomorrow, which seems totally unfair.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 02/01/2023 17:44

I remembered that tomorrow is Bin Day, which is all that matters really, even if I don't achieve anything else this week.

eggandonion · 02/01/2023 21:45

Tomorrow is also my bin day and my bins could benefit from some nice disinfectant water being chucked in, they are post Christmas smelly.
Our vet has a brilliant new online booking system, choose your time, give a brief reason for visit i need a routine blood pressure test at the gp, to renew my prescription. The vet system would make it a lot easier. Actually being allowed to have it done in the pharmacy, or indeed the vets, and emailed to the gp would be a better option.

eggandonion · 04/01/2023 22:32

So Rishi Sunak wants everyone to do maths to 18, and upset a lot of mumsnet, twitter and the rest. There is a lot to be said for a broad leaving cert. Only one of my kids did honours maths, only two took honours Irish with mixed results..but English and a European language are useful.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 05/01/2023 10:31

Back to school today on a very dark morning with kids half awake in the back of the car :) I think Monday 9th would have suited everyone better! (Well, maybe just me...)
Yes, egg, that's interesting alright. I doubt they will row back on it. It has been too long to reverse it, in my opinion. I also think that a broader curriculum is a good idea to the age of eighteen. It's time enough to specialise after that. My DD in Leaving Cert doesn't agree with me, however!

eggandonion · 05/01/2023 10:44

One of my kids would have happily ditched irish and French, but needed them for 3rd level cao.
I actually hate tax forms, but it is the words, not the sums, that make no sense.
At least 2 days back at school is better than 5....and bank Holiday early Feb should be nice. Apart from people doing pres, i suppose.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 05/01/2023 12:50

Happy New Year to all fellow craicnetters Smile

I'm really hoping that January flies by, I'm so over it already! I was just thinking back to a conversation I had with my boss this time 3 years ago. I'd been reading on Mumsnet about a virus in China and it's potential to spread around the world. He poo-pooed it, assured me that 'all sorts of viruses outbreak in China but fizzle out before they'd ever reach here' Hmm we all know how that went... In some ways it feels much longer than 3 years ago!

DC back in school, it was so hard to get everyone up and out this morning I'm actually they started today as they'll only have this and tomorrow and then a bit of a rest again - I think a full week from Monday would have been too much for them! (and me) I've enjoyed the work commute this past few days though, so much nicer when the schools are off.

honeyrider · 05/01/2023 13:07

I'm not back to work until Monday. I'm catching up on laundry and housework and want to have very little to do tomorrow.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 05/01/2023 15:07

I'd give anything to be relaxing in the sun beside a pool right now (with a glass of sangria in my hand)

Which of you won the €11m lotto jackpot last night?? (clearly wasn't me or I'd be posting from my first class plane seat right now!!)

eggandonion · 05/01/2023 15:15

11 million would nice.
I spent ages reading all the william and Harry stuff, goodness me. Whatever next. Presidential families are dull, although miggledy falling into his dog bowl would be some spectacle.
Is it ever going to stop raining, the icy week was the only dry week!

JaneJeffer · 05/01/2023 15:20

He'd never get out @eggandonion
