GroceryAid School Essentials Grant 2024

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone applied for the GroceryAid School Essentials Grant this year for £150 per school age child towards school uniform?

If so, have you heard back yet?

I've been awarded the last 3 years and hate to admit, I do rely on it to help with school uniform costs so I'm worried we won't be awarded this year as they have changed their application process! Xx

Thank you. They did advise me to apply for a carers grant a while back so if I'm not successful I'll try that x

I guess it's encouraging many people on here have been awarded today but it's also creeping closer to the end date and they've already emailed me back to tell me they had more applications than they can help.

Hope is diminishing. X

I’m coop too! But still nothing. Strange as I’ve seen a few people who work for coop haven’t received anything yet! So I’m not sure :( xx

JustMintEagle · 30/07/2024 11:08

Still nothing here loosing hope now

Ellie128 · 30/07/2024 11:22

The thing bothering me is that if we don't receive it this year I feel like we should get first priority next year but I don't think that will be the case. So worse case scenario is you could apply for the next few years and not receive any help whereas others might get it every year. I think maybe they should consider £100 per child that way they can help more people or different amounts per child depending on primary/secondary school as high school uniform is much more expensive.

Ashadav · 30/07/2024 11:26

I agree or maybe just the one off payment for 150 pound per family that wat everyone will get a little bit of help .

Ellie128 · 30/07/2024 11:40

Yes I agree, even to the point of dividing the amount of funding between the number of applications and just sharing it so everyone at least gets something.

Ashadav · 30/07/2024 12:04

Yes that would b a very good idea a lot of people need the help they shouldn't open it to everyone if they know it not going to be enough to go round

Starryleo89 · 30/07/2024 12:47

I had the welfare team contact me after i complained about the process this year, the person was apparently going to feed back what id told them for next years applications about how stressful, upsetting and long winded it is. I know it wont help anyone now but hopefully theyll change things back for next year or at least change it to a better working way!
