I can't see anything on the Octopus Savings Sessions Twitter feed about a session tomorrow, where did you see it, @ClownSchool ?

ClownSchool · 21/11/2022 18:42

I didn’t get an email yet either @EveryoneToHisOwnGout - I just had a feeling because there’ll have been barely any solar generation today and checked the app. Must have been my spidey senses tingling.

ClownSchool · 21/11/2022 18:43

@tribpot it was a countdown on the app when I clicked on savings sessions

Oooh! No notification or email, but I checked the app and I'm now signed up!

I may find the 5:30-6:30 slot a bit trickier! Maybe a night for fish and chips by candle light tomorrow...

tribpot · 21/11/2022 18:56

Thanks @ClownSchool I thought to check the app after I posted! It doesn't seem to generate a push notification or anything, so I wonder how many people outside this thread will even know about the session.

ClownSchool · 21/11/2022 18:58

Last time I got a message from octopus at 1:07am on the day of the session. Might put my phone on silent tonight!

tribpot · 21/11/2022 19:04

My email came through at 21:07 last time, I wonder if they deliberately send them later on so people don't forget.

Brogues · 21/11/2022 19:09

I’ve not had an email for tomorrows session so can’t opt in yet.

I saved 5p last time but very grid low users at that time of day. Only me and the youngest were in so we sat watching TV in the dark 😆

Fufumcgoo · 21/11/2022 19:09

I can't even see the dashboard anymore on the app 😟

Just go online, click on savings sessions and it'll let you opt in. I haven't had a heads up yet either.

I can't see a savings session link, maybe it's regional?

LovelyBitOfSquirrel69 · 21/11/2022 19:33

I just had the email now.

tribpot · 21/11/2022 19:40

Just had an email and a notification from the app. Still nothing on the Twitter feed!

gingercat02 · 21/11/2022 19:44

My notification have just arrived by e-mail and push notification from the app. That's crap timing as my EV is coming tomorrow afternoon

sovielverloren · 21/11/2022 19:45

Hello! Thanks to this thread I have signed up and have already got my notification for tomorrow. I feel part of a gang here!

tribpot · 21/11/2022 19:55

@gingercat02 your EV should arrive pretty much fully charged I would have thought? If you don't have a home charger (I don't, just charge on the 3-pin) you won't lose much by not charging during that hour, it's a slow process at home.

I'm hoping so! We do have a pod point charger but haven't used it yet obviously. We have a overnight charging tariff but I might need a play 😉

My sister was telling me today that she got £2.25 in rewards for a saving session one day last week between 5-6 pm ( I think). She just booked the dinner in the slow cooker and turned it off at 4.50. She turned the fridge freezer off as well as it was only for an hour. Lit a few candles and her and her boys watched a movie undera blanket so for two hours she was only using the tv. No heating or electricity apart from that. I don't know if it's worth it for £2.25 but she said that's two loads in the tumble dryer. So her son puked everywhere and prompyly used the savings 😬.

I think it's a good idea. My electricity is around £4-4.50 a day so a £2 saving every day would be awesome. Shame it's only occasional and that eon next don't do anything like this.

Reluctantadult · 21/11/2022 20:10

@gingercat02 what have you gone for? We've got an MG5 estate. Charge overnight on cheaper rates, octopus go tariff. Trying to put other things on overnight to take advantage, but everything seems to wake me up! Dishwasher is noisy and beeps. Washing machine even worse and keeps beeping for about an hour seemingly! I might try it again with a lower spin but I don't know if it will mess up the washing.

gingercat02 · 21/11/2022 20:16

A Nissan leaf. I use my washer on a timer so it's doing the most noisy bit as we are all waking up anyway. We often put the dishwasher at bedtime anyway.

Reluctantadult · 21/11/2022 20:26

Ah. The cheap rate is 12 - 4:30am which makes it tricky to do that.

MyLittleOctopussy · 21/11/2022 20:37

I shouldn't laugh, but I did. That's children for you. I'm sorry for your sister, though.

I would like Octopus to extend their overnight electric car charge to people who have businesses which involve a lot of laundry (i.e. me).

Allmyfavouritepeople · 21/11/2022 22:19

Thanks for the heads up! Checked my email and signed up for tomorrow. Just need to work out what to have for tea but I can always have it ready for 5.30pm anyway.

Im wondering wht to do for dinner too. Tuesday is DD's night at Rainbows which worked well last week as its 4.45-5.45 so they werent here for the saving session and had dinner when they got in but 5.30-6.30 is right over when they will need dinner. I can feed DS whilst they are out and DP and I will eat later.
