Octopus Saving Sessions

Anyone signed up for this? Payments for shifting your energy use away from peak times/within a given timeslot each day.

Yes, that was my plan. I saw we'd had an email with the final scores on the doors today, was hoping that explained how to donate the points. Our savings are not a significant amount of money to us but could make a difference to someone else.

I got a bit bored by the end. The small payback made it less interesting once the novelty wore off sitting in candlelight with the fridge turned off 🤣🤣
Not sure I'd bother again next winter if it happens.
Got all my super streaker points but no prizes

Donated mine but I'd already cashed in £10 worth so there was about £2.50 built up since then. If I hasn't cashed it then I wouldn't have donated. Didn't win any prizes!

I didn’t win anything and donated my £5 odd of octopoints. Having solar and battery means I already tried my best to match usage with none peak times anyway but more from the perspective of it costing me less. It got the kids involved in thinking about energy usage/saving at least.

I've donated mine. I'd earned £15.20 so thought it won't make much difference to me but might help others. Plus Octopus have said they'll donate extra if 10,000 people donate their points.

Just seen National Grid are intending to reintroduce the Demand Flexibility Service for this winter. Hopefully Octopus will join in again this year.

I'm sure they will @ClownSchool as it's very on brand for them. Looking forward to a third winter of pretending to have blackouts whilst still having the central heating on so nice and warm!

It was worth trying it once, but we saved next to nothing. Not convinced that I feel it had much point to us. I won't be joining in again I'm afraid. We aren't peak users at 5-6pm do not the target group I think.

We saved loads last time, so hopefully they will do again! We are quite high users so shifting stuff around made quite a difference some days.

We’re not the target group either.
We’ve now more or less load shifted everything out of the peak slot but could be different in winter. Still like to join in though for the social aspect; I enjoyed feeling like part of a group of people trying to do the right thing.
I’m such a follower 😁

I can see it on the Octopus WhatsApp channel, and I can see it in My Account on the website, under the Octoplus option. I believe you have to join Octoplus to be eligible.

Thank you! It was on the channel bit, and I was looking in normal chat (my first ever channel on WhatsApp, I believe I may be behind the times)

Me too! But it would appear that there is one time that the meter wasn't connected so the criteria for readings for the past 15 days is not met!! Not my fault it's their meter!! But will miss out!

You have to sign up for Octoplus before you can take part in Savings Sessions, @Reluctantadult - is that what you're seeing?

My first saving session with the octopus mini. I've used 71 watts since 5:30.

Bet it'll still only get 3 octopoints....

Last year, I’d typically get about 5p per session. It was minimal. But we mostly use gas, so that is why.

Im doing this one and just waiting a few more minutes before I go and out the dishwasher on.
