Anyone signed up for this? Payments for shifting your energy use away from peak times/within a given timeslot each day.

Glad it’s not just me!

tribpot · 14/02/2023 15:39

Looks like it's now sorted itself out, I just have one row saying 'Calculating'.

ChilliBandit · 16/02/2023 21:11

Results are in. 840 here, no surprise as I didn’t try as hard as normal for these evening ones. I was hungry.

tribpot · 16/02/2023 21:30

224 points for us, very low. 9% lower usage than normal. I think ds was on the PS5 for at least part of the session, which in half term (and it was a test session) seems fair enough.

HundredMilesAnHour · 16/02/2023 21:34

I got 41p 😂 And that's despite me turning all the power off (including the fridge freezer) with the exception of the Roberts radio in the bedroom as I was too lazy to crawl behind the cupboard to switch it off at the socket.

Reluctantadult · 16/02/2023 21:41

976 points here. What's that then, £1.22 I think. A free run of the tumble drier, woohoo!

NewBootsAndRanty · 16/02/2023 21:48

78 points/ 9p here👍
Less than the points I'll get from my bonus streak.

800 points, cutting down 90% of usage.

The joys of being away for a saving session!

Filterphobia · 16/02/2023 22:04

2560 for me. My total amount is now just under £40 for the 10 sessions. The evening sessions are usually high usage for us.

Octopus Saving Sessions
WombatChocolate · 17/02/2023 09:17

Bizarrely that’s been my best session. With some bonus points too, I’ve earned £1.81 of points. In the 3 previous sessions I did I only got 94p combined.

And what’s odd, is that we definitely didn’t switch off as many things as in previous sessions and were even boiling the kettle as the clock ticked over into the start of the session.

All very odd, but fine by me. Anything is better than nothing.

Does anyone know what causes the bonus points to happen? I’ve got a couple of +100 showing.

The bonus points are for a streak. Basically if you sign up for every session, you'll get 100 bonus points each time. So it's worth signing up (for that extra 12p 😂) even if you don't think you'll be able to make (m)any savings in the actual session.

WinterMermaid987 · 17/02/2023 12:57

Definitely take these values with a pinch of salt as we were away on the last one and everything except frezzer switched off. Our actual usage was only 50p worth of electric for the 24hrs and zero gas. The savings session dashboard only recorded a 40% drop in usage it should have been 90%… but hey ho I’ve made more from the
bonus 100 points 😂

NewBootsAndRanty · 17/02/2023 13:29

Your gas usage has absolutely nothing to do with anything though @WinterMermaid987
If you think their calculations are wrong give Octopus a shout - I'm sure they'll explain their workings out.

@NewBootsAndRanty thanks sorry yeah I forgot the gas wasn’t included. It still seems odd as DH went round turning everything off including the PlayStation… as we were away for a week.

NewBootsAndRanty · 17/02/2023 14:21

It's the previous 10 days they look at, so for every day before the session that everything was turned off, your average normal use will have been lower than usual .

I've done all of the sessions except one morning. As as a low user I don't get many points but I am glad to contribute. I feel a lot better now I've got a headtorch.

Ciri · 20/02/2023 13:50

Mine is with British Gas rather than octopus but Ive just had our payment confirmation through and it’s £9.44! That’s well worth an hour of everything turned off and the dc rather enjoyed sitting by the fire playing Catan by emergency lamplight.

WhatCanWeDoNext · 20/02/2023 18:40

Octopus savings session tomorrow evening 5:30-6:30 pm

tribpot · 20/02/2023 19:16

Just had both the email and the app notification - that's quite a lot sooner than usual!

We had a similar amount for our last session with British gas. We'll be doing the next definitely!

Ciri · 20/02/2023 22:04

I have another tomorrow. Definite doing it

Coxspurplepippin · 20/02/2023 22:18

We've saved £2.40 across all the sessions so far Hmm Grin - we're not doing anything different because our usage over the 60-90 minutes is about 6-13p per hour, so we have nowhere to go.... No rewards for being low users anyway.

MissAmyPond · 21/02/2023 07:38

Completely forgot the last session Blush

Reluctantadult · 21/02/2023 08:11

I think I'm going to bed to strategically up my use before the session today. Am I right that they compare to the 4hrs before? I can put the washing on at 3:30 at least.

Reluctantadult · 21/02/2023 08:11

Not sure where bed appeared from! Subliminal...
