Anyone signed up for this? Payments for shifting your energy use away from peak times/within a given timeslot each day.

We gained 20176 Octopus points over 3 sessions which worked out at about £25 . Still waiting for the 31/01/23 result. We have an Air Source Heat Pump and turned the thermostat down a couple of degrees during the switch off as well as unplugging all the chargers.

WombatChocolate · 07/02/2023 19:16

My account has just updated from the saver session last Tuesday.

I got 462 points which was worth 62p. That’s actually my best yet.

We are low electricity users due to GCH and typically use just over £1 per day (still on a good fixed tariff from nearly 2 years ago) and I think we did better in that morning session, as if I run the washing machine it tends to be during that morning slot. DHs laptop was run off battery and usage showed as 0 for much of the hour.

My total from 3 sessions (only recently got into it) is now 96p.

Finally! It's taken ages for the 30 Jan to come through. 136 points but we did nothing at all!
I have made 14,008 in total of 9 sessions which is £17.51
Some of them I switched everything possible off, sone we weren't at home and some we did nothing.
Money for nothing is fine by me.

NewBootsAndRanty · 07/02/2023 19:30

152 points for the last session, apparently I saved 80% compared to usual for doing nothing 🤷‍♀️

So I saved 65p in the last session. Not great. I'm all electric, not a massive user (try not to use the heating!) but I'm on the flexible rate so my bill is £4/day and that's if I don't use the oven or heating. Heating my hot water on the current flexible rate is the killer. I dread the monthly bill, especially as I don't see what more I can do to reduce it unless I literally use cold water. I already try not to use the oven (or when I do, cook multiple meals at the same time) and have restricted using the washing machine to only when I really have to (and never use a dryer). This is so depressing.

froginawell · 07/02/2023 19:45

Oooh! £3.42! The most eve ever made!

We just had solar panels fitted, and it was Sunny by then so by reducing we used zero energy (we're feeding in at that point) so I'm very pleased! Especially as I was still wfh...

Reluctantadult · 07/02/2023 19:50

6528 points for the last session... What's that in £ assn anyone tell me? Because it's a big number and I'm excited...

froginawell · 07/02/2023 19:53

£8.16 I think!

Divide by 8...

froginawell · 07/02/2023 19:54

(Suddenly less impressed with my £3!)

Reluctantadult · 07/02/2023 19:56

Oo yey! By far my biggest success. Just me at home. High use just before everything went off. That's the answer 😆

tribpot · 12/02/2023 18:19

Saving sessions alert! Tomorrow (13th) 5:30-630

There's a note to say the time isn't showing in the app but they're working on this.

Now they’re talking. Worth opting in for the shot at the heat pump. Apparently they are launching a heat pump they’ve designed themselves. Presumably one of the earliest models is the prize?

Fairysilver · 12/02/2023 21:46

I read about theheat pump today. They will cost from £2500 to £3500 to buy. Octopus have developed their own.
You don't have to save a particular amount, just opt in and it's a prize draw.

Reluctantadult · 12/02/2023 21:48

Ahhh how annoying, my gas metre isn't connecting so I assume I can't do the saving sesh 😭

NewBootsAndRanty · 12/02/2023 21:51

It has nothing to do with your gas meter or usage @Reluctantadult . It's electric only.

Reluctantadult · 12/02/2023 21:53

Oh yes of course! Sorry, just being momentarily dim!!!

Reluctantadult · 13/02/2023 12:54

Is the app a bit broken for everyone at the min? It looks different to normal.

NewBootsAndRanty · 13/02/2023 13:13

Mine looks fine

I’m doing my first session tonight with British gas. I’m assuming they’re expecting high half term demand!

ThomasWaghornsConeHat · 13/02/2023 17:26

I ran my washing machine to stop just before 5.30 so let's see if that boosts my results. Normally my usage just before the time slot is low. We are out now. Freezing at the park then food shopping

AutisticLegoLover · 13/02/2023 18:39

I'm doing it with eon for the first time. If I reach a 20% reduction in my energy use over the hour they'll credit my account with 35p. Wow. I know saving energy is good by itself but I think there needs to be a better incentive for customers than 35p.

WallaceandGrommit · 13/02/2023 23:39

Was there a second session I didn’t spot today or is there a glitch in the system?

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 14/02/2023 06:35

I have this too....

tribpot · 14/02/2023 09:21

I've got that too!

Hereforthedramaz · 14/02/2023 10:21

The points section crashed the first time I tried to look and then when I got in I have the two sessions for yesterday too.

They must be struggling today!
