I had my best attempt yet this evening, short of unplugging the fridge freezer and wifi router.

I was out until nearly 6 pm and then sat in the dark going through my work emails on my laptop running on the battery.

See if I can improve on the first two savings of 41 p and 34 p.

Although lets hope they do the calculations a bit quicker this time, I don't know if I can cope with the suspense.

RewildingAmbridge · 30/11/2022 21:24

We were out tonight so made sure everything was switched off at the plug, cancelled the boost on the hot water and put the heating on hold. No lights on, just fridge freezer.
Last time we saved 91% and we were home, did switch everything off and sit in front of the fire though. Still only got £2..... Better than 79% and £1.10 the first time.
Just got a notification for another one tomorrow 5-6. Thing is this will be the third saving session in ten days around the same time, and when they're comparing similar usage over the last ten days at the same time as the session, that has an impact surely?

NewBootsAndRanty · 30/11/2022 21:26

They don't include any saving session days when they look at your average use.

Terrible effort tonight, so happy to have another chance tomorrow!

Salome61 · 01/12/2022 17:00

Glad to be told about this thread! I do keep my router on!

Violashift · 01/12/2022 17:05

I have the fridge and router on and TVs on standby.
OH works from home so he is on his pc in the dark.
I am sat reading my kindle with a hot water bottle.
Keep questioning if its worth it for a quid but it is pressure off the grid I suppose.

froginawell · 01/12/2022 17:42

That's what I think @Violashift. It's not worth it for the rewards, but I'd rather be in control and still have the router on than dealing with blackouts...

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 01/12/2022 17:42

Weve just eaten KFC by candle light in front of the fire. Everything is off apart from the fridge/freezer which is what weve been doing each time.

Anyone else starting to think that blackouts are looking more likely?

Salome61 · 01/12/2022 17:47

13 minutes to go, I never eat this early but am dreaming of my Quorn cottage pie after 6! I need some snacks for the next one.

froginawell · 01/12/2022 18:51

Yesterdays session is saying ' you didn't opt in to this session' but we did!

Has mine gone wrong or is it just not coping with running 2 days in a row?

Aramox · 01/12/2022 18:51

I got 4p!

gingercat02 · 01/12/2022 18:58

There was only DS in until I got home at 5:35 so the house was in darkness apart from his tv.
I just read my Kobo until 6.
My app still just shows calculating for yesterday and today

froginawell · 01/12/2022 19:17

Arse @gingercat02

Sounds like my app didn't register me registering yesterday! Fish and chips by candlelight were for nothing!

triedeyes · 02/12/2022 19:50

It's definitely worth emailing them if it hasn't registered you opting in. I've just had a reply from them and they said there are still "teething problems " that they hope to soon sort out and they credited me £3.

Thank you! I emailed at 10pm last night, and by 6am they had responded crediting me with the £3, which is way more than I'd have got if it had registered!

Excellent customer service from Octopus, plus great advice on this thread!!

IncessantNameChanger · 03/12/2022 14:37

It will be interesting to see how this psns out over a few saving sessions. As said before I'm EON but it's all the same sessions. I wonder if they will fo a weekend one?

NewBootsAndRanty · 05/12/2022 18:48

So the saving session page says I earned 1112 points this session, compared to 48 for the first session and 104 for the second. I'm guessing it's increased for the third one due to running a dehumidifier..

It looks like they've added an extra 100 points for one of the bonus streak things as well.

I've 1364 points so far, coming to £1.70.

Waiting for the 1 December results now..

I just looked minutes ago and mine was still calculating. I really want to know because I was out for the most recent ones and DH and DS think it's barmy!

BarbaraofSeville · 05/12/2022 19:09

Similar to you OP, my third one was 624 points, after 328 and 272, but the last one was me in the house alone, sitting in the dark, using my laptop on the battery, so just about as much as possible without turning off the fridge and Wifi. So 1224 points of £1.53 in total.

A drop in the ocean compared with the total cost, but it's a bit of fun that could have a significant boost to the country's energy security. Let's see how it goes now we're expecting the weather to be quite a bit colder over the next couple of weeks.

NewBootsAndRanty · 05/12/2022 20:30

920 points for the fourth session on 1 December; I've now got 2,284 points worth £2.85.

tribpot · 05/12/2022 20:38

3136 points for 30 November, vs 1672 for 22 November. I don't feel like we did anything different.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 05/12/2022 20:50

I was out for the 3rd one but hadnt turned anything off so thats the electricity used when we arent in. The 4th one we were home and did the same as the first 2

Octopus Saving Sessions
Fufumcgoo · 05/12/2022 21:34

I made no changes at all the last two session. Apparently still saved.

DCwow · 05/12/2022 22:51

Has anyone at all had the bonus 100 points added??

gingercat02 · 06/12/2022 08:12

😂😂😂😂😂 16 and 178 in the last 2 sessions which is hilarious as I was out for both. No bonus points for opting in (and saving) in all 4 sessions
