I pay British Gas by direct debit. Their website says I will receive £66 into the bank account I pay from a few days after my direct debit is paid. I paid on the 1st October and still nothing . Has anybody else received theirs ?

I’m in the same position OP so interested in other answers…

I'm with Shell. They deducted the £66 from my normal DD, then took the balance from my BA.

Talia99 · 07/10/2022 06:37

Also with British Gas and not received anything

whereeverilaymycat · 07/10/2022 06:51

Nothing here yet either. They emailed with the amounts credited back per month a while ago. So definitely not a direct debit adjustment from British Gas.

User84 · 07/10/2022 07:05

Nothing here. I checked last night

RubyJack · 07/10/2022 07:07

Nothing either. My daughter has had hers back on 1st October from another supplier.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 07/10/2022 07:09

Nothing here either 🙄.

My mum is with British Gas, no direct debit as she pays on receipt of bill. Her account is showing as £66 in credit, as if two days ago.

I'm with Eon next on a smart meter, I've not had anything yet.

CeeJay81 · 07/10/2022 07:50

@HairyKnobsAndBroomsticks I'm with eon and they credited my account yesterday.

AuntieMarys · 07/10/2022 07:52

Bulb credited my energy account with it last week

aliceinshackles · 07/10/2022 08:36

I'm with bg on pre payment meter .
I can't find anything on line of when I get my e-voucher to top up.

Not a Mum, or even a lady :-)

Just signed up to update your thread.

I was also expecting the £66 to go into my bank account and still not showing, so went into my British gas online account and notice the amount I had showing as credit after my 1st Oct bill has now increased by £66 today, so looks like they are adding the money as Credit to Gas account rather than £66 back to the bank.

Not what they implied in the email they sent.

Ah, thanks, is that how they’re doing it? If so, I’d never know. Haven’t got a clue what my credit was before, to compare! They should have sent some notification if that’s what’s happening.

I’ve just checked mine again and they’ve done the same; not at all what they said they’d do via email/ on the website 🙄
Have you been told whether your DD is changing from October yet? They said they’d ‘be in touch’ to tell me what the unit price increases meant for my DD but haven’t yet.
I’m about £700 in credit now!

psikey · 07/10/2022 09:17

Just look at credit on your last bill compared to current credit at top of the billing history. As shown on mine, £66 difference.

I'd manually set mine to £350 expecting the silly prices (before government changes).

I asked them yesterday through WebChat to reduce to £250 which they did, as you can't lower yourself via website, only increase.

User84 · 07/10/2022 09:23

Mine isn’t showing credit. We are with British Gas but are all electric. I hope it still comes through

NigelDidIt · 07/10/2022 09:25

I'm dual fuel with British Gas - they've added the £66 to my electric. DD is collected on the 3rd and the £66 shows as miscellaneous document dated 6th October.

unitywardrobe · 07/10/2022 09:31

With BG here too and nothing received. The email definitely said it would be credited to the bank account 'a few days after' my DD. I've just sent a DM on Twitter to ask when it will be paid.

I'm still on a normal tariff (till July of next year) so my bills haven't increased but I had planned to use that additional money toward paying off a credit card. Trying to get debt free!

Yep, I had same message so was expecting the £66 to go into my bank account on the 7th. No big deal for me other than having to alter my Budgeted incomings and outgoings 🙄

Fiddledeedeeee · 07/10/2022 10:13

I’ve just been on the web chat with BG (about something else) and queried that the £66 hadn’t been put in my bank account but on the credit instead and this is what they said… 🤷🏼‍♀️

When the grant was announced it was always intended that if you pay by DD it will be credited directly to your account not to a bank account. If you don’t pay by DD you have to apply for vouchers

sounds like some miscommunication on BG part but it is intended to be credited direct to account so I wouldn’t include it in any budgets using bank account money

Exact wording from BG website today

www.britishgas.co.uk/energy/help-if-youre-struggling-to-pay/government-support.html#receive-discount

If you pay by Direct Debit
We'll send the money straight to your bank each month – like a refund – once your Direct Debit has gone through. If your monthly Direct Debit payment is lower than the monthly discount value, the remaining balance will be applied to your energy account.
For example:
If your Direct Debit is £100 a month, you’d pay that as normal. Then a few days later, £67 will be paid in to your bank account. If your Direct Debit is less than £67 a month, say £50 for example, £50 will be refunded to your bank account and the remaining £17 will be applied as credit to your energy account.

psikey · 07/10/2022 10:41

Only if DD is lower than the £66 should it have gone to energy account (as above)

RiverFlowers · 07/10/2022 11:08

So if my electricity is less than £67 a month but our gas is extra (duel fuel) does the fact the electric is less than £67 mean £50 is meant to go in my bank account and £17 applied as credit or is it as combined my monthly bill is over £67 I get the £67 in my bank account?
