Morning everyone. Just had ds2’s new bed delivered at 0650 from John Lewis 😱. Had a terrible sleep last night and of course now it’s time to get up could sleep for a week 😴

Life I hope things get less shite soon 💐

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 07:16

Life I hope things improve soon. There’s always a listening ear slightly to the south of you if you need one Flowers

Happier it’ll turn one of those tiny paste pots into a curry for four too

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 07:21

Morning all. Happy frugal Friday (TGIF!!!)

Planned spends £20 nails. Shouldn’t need to spend anything else today

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2019 08:00

Thanks all
Speaking of which wolf I'm in the city of steel on the 17th?

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 08:08

Bugger I’m there on the 16th

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2019 09:02

Ah rubbish. One day...

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 09:06

We’re getting them closer together, it’s a start Grin

£29 theatre tickets for half term. It really narks me that they charge a booking fee.

I have frugally rinsed out the hand soap bottles and tipped the rinsings into the new ones.

WreckTangled · 11/01/2019 11:16

£58 Aldi
£20 Sainsbury's but that includes two pillow cases (needed) and a belt (not needed Grin)

Meal plan:

Stir fry (with quorn chicken style pieces)
Wraps with chicken goujons/falafel/salad
Pizza
Butternut curry
Tuna and jackets with salad
Frittata - cheesy leek
Spag bol
Veggie burgers in buns

Have 8 meals there it seems which is good.

ememem84 · 11/01/2019 12:26

Still not had my form back from the gp. Grr. Will have to call in a bit and hound. I hate hounding.

Cagliostro · 11/01/2019 14:15

More swimming done. :)
Friend and I are considering having a short course of adult swimming lessons. We can both get from A to B but our technique totally sucks!

ChristmasSeacow · 11/01/2019 14:50

Life come and have a chat when you need one. Even if you can’t go into details. Hope you are okay Flowers

I’ve been wfh today but just can’t get my head going at all. I am shattered atm, almost too tired to think. I have had a horrible cough all week that is disturbing my sleep (as are the DCs 😬) and also challenging my pelvic floor hello Tena Lady’s .

Also I forgot to say that I am also in the emoji fan club 😁🍰🥂🧀. Or rather 🥦🥒🍉🍌, since it’s new year.

NSD so far but I’ve got to do a Ocado shop and order some yarn later. Will post a meal plan later. Off to get DS from school shortly.

SneakyGremlins · 11/01/2019 15:39

It's wok night tonight! Grin

Justanothermile · 11/01/2019 15:39

Afternoon.

Thanks for the recipe nocuts, I'm really liking the idea for work. I'd never consider an actual Pot Noodle!

happier thanks, I'll look at the app you mention.

Hope you've had a good conference curvy, I'm a massive fan of the Sainsbury's baking range too.

I am a very 'head above water' swimming - like an old granny!

Oh bone aching tiredness is just the pits seacow, as are nattering, persistent coughs. Sympathy from here.

Spends today
£20 energy gels, tenner back from mate though.
£50 small shop from Ocado, due tomorrow.
£6 Amazon.

We are going out for a meal later as DS returns to university tomorrow but DH will pick up that tab.

It's good to log on and actually feel I can read all the posts. And I'm hoping a more positive, balanced and normal feel is returning to our thread. And stays.

Now to persuade the fluffy one to come back....

Justanothermile · 11/01/2019 15:40

Oh let us know how is goes sneaky, always like a photo! Sorry, we cross posted.

SneakyGremlins · 11/01/2019 15:42

My flat kitchen is a bit messy though! That's depression for you.

Justanothermile · 11/01/2019 15:45

My house is a bit messy sneaky - that’s teenagers for you.😂x

WreckTangled · 11/01/2019 15:48

Sneaky I bought stir fry to have somewhen next week! What are you making?

Cag I've got a friend doing just that. Our leisure centre was doing a special offer for adults first month £10. She said the only down side is that it's at 9:15pm Shock I would be asleep...

Em what form are you waiting for? That's annoying I hope it's sorted soon.

Nocuts I've bookmarked that recipe those noodles look delicious and would be great for work.

Wolfcub · 11/01/2019 15:49

Evening all. Good luck with the wok sneaky. Get it hot as hell before adding any oil that’s my top tip

£20 nails
£28 theatre tickets
£27 scales and eye wipes from amazon

House and hamster have been cleaned, loads of washing done and managed to watch a film

SneakyGremlins · 11/01/2019 16:01

I'm doing a vegetarian korma Smile

ChristmasSeacow · 11/01/2019 16:06

I liked the look of that pot noodle thing too, thanks for sharing. I might try it at home first, not sure I want to try to eat noodle soup tidily at my desk at work Wink

Jam, Fluffy hasn’t gone has she? Shock it wouldn’t be the frugal thread without her, that literally can’t happen. Hmmm. We need to get back to normal, that’s for sure.

I looked at the tax return my accountant did for me for last year before I signed it. Good job I did read it properly as he hadn’t put my maternity allowance in. He’s corrected it now (with a grovelling apology - I should think so too!) but I now owe an extra £1100 in tax Confused. I knew roughly what would be due and rounded up before putting aside so it’s okay, just not as good as I thought it was last week. Gah.

I am waiting for my current employer to put my company info on their supplier system so I can invoice. This seems to be a very protracted process - that’s the public sector for you. I’ve been working since the end of September and shelling out for childcare but haven’t seen a penny yet. Things will get very tight soon as my cash savings are seriously depleted. I don’t want to but may have to dip into ISAs. I will chase again on Monday.

WreckTangled · 11/01/2019 16:09

Yum! I love korma

ChristmasSeacow · 11/01/2019 16:13

Sneaky my wok tip is to not try to cook everything at once. It doesn’t all stay hot enough and you end up steaming stuff not really frying.

I tend to mess around with the order of recipes. Often I sear the veg on its own in a very hot wok first, so it’s still crunchy but getting the tasty brown bits all over, then tip onto a plate and put aside. Then I let the wok get hot again and add the meat a couple of minutes before saucy stuff (either ready made sauce or all the marinade ingredients). When it’s about cooked I chuck the veg back in for the last couple of minutes to warm through all together. That way I get properly crunchy and slightly blackened veg. It’s always unseared and/or overcooked otherwise, ime.

ememem84 · 11/01/2019 16:19

Form recieved. It was one from my new pt who needed the dr to sign off on me training while preggo. Dr has emailed it back. And I’m collecting this evening - dr is on the way to dparents ds is at dparents.

I love a korma.

Bornlazy · 11/01/2019 16:30

Lsd today, sent the ds into the shop after school for bread and milk and it cost me £6 after they’d bought a snack 🤔 if I’d went I may well have spent more so I still consider it frugal.

Jam I swim like an old lady too ( although in my head it was like Jane from the Tarzan films 😜) I don’t get my face wet unless a more enthusiastic swimmer splashes me. I actually only swim on holiday as I like to dry off in the sun. Getting changed in those cubicles gives me the horrors.

Ds’s new bed is so comfortable!!! It’s like a big fluffy cloud. Might need to invest in a new bed for us.

Sneaky don’t worry about the mess. At your age, if I’d had a flat, it would have been condemned Blush
