Everybody has some expertise! Don't put yourselves down.

Girlie I've been on omeprazole since I was 17, I'm now 25. I've never had any side-effects from it and for the last few years I only take it PRN. I have never had any diagnosis other than GORD though I don't actually have reflux, just burning stomach pain from acid, and no GP has ever been willing to do any investigations Hmm. But really I wanted to say that though it sounds a bit grim I'm sure, I think omeprazole is a great drug and you sort of just get used to it really, even though it is a bit crap.

Sneaky I like water chestnuts in my stir fries now, I am so sophisticated - Asda sell them in a tin of their own brand. Yummy.

Cag Sorry to hear about DH's back but glad he is at home with you.

I have appointments. I have first CBT appt next week, but will need to ask DM to look after DD for it, and it will be a few hours as I have to go all the way in to town on the bus for the appointment, have the appt, and then come back. And I really don't want to tell her what the appt is for, but if I just say 'appointment' she will nag and nag. And I don't really want to say 'health related' because I know her and she will tell my DF and he'll convince her I have ovarian cancer or something Hmm. Sigh. What to do?? I was hoping DH could have her but he's off placement that morning already for his driving lesson and he has a special few-day placement in palliative care organised especially for him so he really can't. I also have my birth debrief appointment which is the week after next, which I am trying not to think about.

NSD today. Took DD to baby club and sat next to a woman who was like a fabled MN competitive parenter, it was fucking awful. I must remember not to sit next to her again. I was joking about DD not being able to sit herself yet, and she legit said, "how old is she?" and I said "nearly 7 months" and she genuinely went "Seven months? And she's still not sitting yet?" Yes, she actually said 'STILL' Angry. Then literally everything I said she was one-upping me about her DS who is the same age: "I went to the weaning workshop and they said you could give scrambled egg so he had that for lunch", "Yeah, we've given DD scrambled egg before, although obviously she didn't really eat it much just played around with it," "Oh he ate it all, he's a really good eater" and so on and so forth for an hour as I tried to make innocuous conversation and she turned everytihng into a tournament Confused. Then the best thing happened - DD did sit herself, unaided, for ages, playing with toys!!! WTF?? So she can sit herself now. Weird.

WreckTangled · 10/01/2019 20:04

That's great Meadow she obviously got pissed off with that mum too Grin

Wolfcub · 10/01/2019 20:04

Meadow dd clearly knew the lady was being a cow and decided to show her what for. Yay for dd

H is really winding me up with contact this week. I’m getting really annoyed and starting to get snappy over text although it appears to be going straight over his thick head

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/01/2019 20:20

Went shopping today £36 in Lidl and £38 in Tesco but haven't done a proper shop since Christmas just kept topping up 😂 just need to order a sack of potatoes.
Meal plan as follows
Tonight - Chicken balti and rice.
Friday - Cajun pork and Apple burgers.
Saturday - turkey jalfrezi.
Sunday - roast chicken.
Monday - gammon, chips and peas.
Tuesday - pasta pesto.
Wednesday - cottage pie.
Thursday - sticky pork stir fry.
Friday - Mexican chicken stew.
Saturday - chicken, potato and kale bake.
All the above is dairy and wheat free for the poster who was asking for advice earlier 😁

There's loads of meat I need to use up in the freezer!! Lunches are leftovers/sandwiches or homemade pot noodle 😋

Other spends £50 on dragonball z and Tokyo ghoul funko pops I found on Facebook which I'm putting by for dd1's birthday. She's going to be so excited 😍

On the subject of expertise I guess mine would be Disney, Harry potter, studio ghibli and star trek voyager/enterprise. Got fairly good knowledge of supernatural creatures and zombies thanks to all the books I've read/tv programnes, I've got a plan of there's ever a zombie apocalypse, get bitten by a vampire or werewolf 😂

I'm also a over emoji user too That's what they are there for after all 😁

WreckTangled · 10/01/2019 20:28

Nocuts you and dd would get on well. She's Harry Potter obsessed. Has read all the books 5+ times and can answer any question you throw at her. I heard her saying to her friend the other day 'say any noun and I'll tell you where it features in Harry Potter' her friend said 'conservatory' and she was able to place it. Crazy. I worry her friends will get pissed off with her obsessiveness/knowitall but I guess she has to work through that herself.

Justanothermile · 10/01/2019 20:43

nocuts - would you share your home made pot noodle recipe please?

DH and DS have just gone to quiz night...separate teams mind.

Clever DD meadow!

Unescorted · 10/01/2019 20:43

meadow I would be too tempted to up the ante. Yarrrh! Minimeadow is only just chewing Anna Karenina. I am a bit worried about when she gets to War and Peace. Will her jaw have grown enough?

I feel a frugal team coming on..... Just make sure my only task is going to the bar. Unless you get a question on which minister is universally loathed by the cs or how many fingers you need to count the IQ of a Brexit minister.

Oooh that’s cool about the funko pops nocuts I’m on deathnote at the mo. And Your Lie In April. I am LOVING NETFLIX 😍😍😍

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/01/2019 20:47

She sounds a charmer meadow, not. Will the appointment people hold dd while your are in there if you take her.

Don't ya love kids wreck.

Wolfcub · 10/01/2019 20:47

Unescorted did you read the secret civil servant on Raab before Christmas, hilarious.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/01/2019 21:19

That's brilliant wreck how old is your dd? Harry potter is like a comfort book for me I've read it so many times, whenever I feel sad or stressed I read through again. That or the northern lights trilogy, dd2 was almost called Lyra after the main character my other choice was Luna from hp but dh vetoed them!

cag I did start watching death note but wasn't keen, might give it another go at some point. loved Tokyo ghoul though which is also on netflix. Dh dressed as Kaneki when we went to comicon last year, was v funny seeing him and dd2 who was dressed as moana walking along holding hands 😂

jam here's the recipe I use www.thelondoner.me/2015/01/travelling-noodles.html but there are others online too. I make up a couple at a time for work when it's cold :)

WreckTangled · 10/01/2019 21:21

She's 8. Have finally managed to get her reading some other books: wizards of once and diary of Anna the girl witch. I sense a theme...Wink

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 10/01/2019 21:22

Bloody cheeky kids wreck sounds like something my dd would say.

Dd has not been great at looking after me this evening, I was hoping she might offer to make me a drink or something but no. Then when she did come upstairs we fell out about some issues at school, she's now gone to bed not talking to me 😕

Great end to a shit day really.

Apparently they don't offer surgery for hiatus hernias anymore just lifelong omeprazole.

I suppose health related/anatomy questions I might stand half a chance with! That and wildlife questions as I've watched about a million nature documentaries with dd!!

I'm reading a book called Normal People now, it's very good, would recommend to any of you looking for a good read.

ememem84 · 10/01/2019 21:24

meadow and that’s why I couldn’t be arsed with baby groups... competitive mumming. Why?! I did not have time for that! Yay dd!!!! Good girl! Has she done it since?! Xxx

Cagliostro · 10/01/2019 21:30

Still just skimming the thread as I try to catch up, life are you ok? You said you were glum :( 💐

DSS has just switched from omeprazole to the one beginning with L I believe.

I might try Tokyo ghoul at some point. I’m actually surprised how much I love death note, I’m properly hooked! I generally go for films more than series but that was because it was cheaper to buy the DVDs of those. Netflix is going to change that, there’s loads I want to watch on there. Until now I’ve only really watched series with DSD but we have to watch them separately now (and then message each other) as she’s away at uni most of the time.

DH got cushion covers for me and DD for Christmas - no face for DD and a soot sprite for me :o

Cagliostro · 10/01/2019 21:31

And yes uggggh at competitive parenting. Her child’s future teachers have my sympathy :o

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 10/01/2019 21:47

Evening all.
cag sorry to hear about your DH
girlie, that is rubbish news, hope the medication starts to work quickly
jam, your dd sounds like a trooper and I'm sure she will find somewhere that is the right fit for her
life, hope you are ok
wreck, kids hey, gotta love 'em
Flowers for you all

lonely please don't go x

Spends today
£8 something in Sainsburys on milk, crisps and two heavy pans, one baking tray and one roasting tray, there were only £6.40, so if any of you need any, Sainsburys is worth a look.

Tomorrow we are (work) going to a conference and it will be focusing on children with SEND, which is brilliant timing for my new role.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/01/2019 21:48

wreck if she likes them go with it! Anything to encourage a love of reading, dd1 wouldn't read until I bought her a load of graphic novels (adventure time, teen titans go) still won't read many chapter books at 10. But then as an adult I will only read certain genres it's not fair to make children read things they dislike!

cag you should try it, dh likes attack on titan but I got nightmares after the 1st episode so haven't watched any more. Do want to try again though! I love studio ghibli, totoro features almost everywhere in our house would love a few cushions to go with the Harry potter ones! Have you watched sailor moon? I want to try it but the box set is pretty expensive and I can't find on Netflix etc.

Competitive parenting is rubbish, with dd1 I got upset by it (was 19 when i fell pregnant) by the time dd2 came along I just laughed it off and found friends on a similar wavelength to me! I did go to a lot of baby groups as my friends were away at uni so felt quite isolated, I've made some lovely friends who I wouldn't be without now. I even volunteered at a few groups which was stressful and i wouldn't recommend 😂

Unescorted · 10/01/2019 23:25

wolf we didn't cry either. :)

Wildernesstips · 11/01/2019 06:35

Cag sorry about your DH.
Girlie you might have tried this already, but raising the head end of the bed is supposed to help with hiatus hernia.

£13 food in M&S yesterday.

Happierwithouthim · 11/01/2019 06:52

I went to town and spent none of my own money, collected my Debenhams order & my prescription goggles, €1 on parking but as it was a trip for dd to optician that was from joint account, we couldn't arrive ten minutes earlier like they'd requested by text day before so appointment got rescheduled & dc spent their pocket money on vastly reduced sticker books in Debenhams & hatchimals in toy shop €10 total.

I also fell in love with a perfume so if I get money for my birthday at end of next month I'll buy it or save up shop and scan vouchers for it.

Oh cag your poor dh he's young & fit Confused

Sounds like a lovely trip em
I also didn't comment on weaning even though mine are 8 & 5 as it's a learning curve and advice changes so much & it's down to each family

There's an app called DressUp for selling clothes jam I haven't used it so can't comment

100 absolutely second what jam said don't go anywhere

Girlie giving up choc will have weight loss benefits & you could have chocolate flavoured stuff to get your fix Hmm could you?

Wolf I prefer text/email to phone too in my personal life but at work my job is 80% phone based HmmConfused

Wreck what a brat Grin obviously he didn't know how hurtful it was. Ds wanted McDonald's last night I'd chicken breasts taken out, we had curry from instant pot (it stretches 180g thick jar sauce into sauce for 4 with the steam watering it down) I'd to remove peas/green beans from DC's portions but they both cleaned it for once. Often they leave more than they eat.

Doing all the cooking was my bugbear too but it meant I always enjoyed my food cos I didn't have to eat chops Grin

I used to hate h doing the shopping we'd end up with multiples of stuff I wouldn't use, loads of his favourite things, twice as much fresh veg as we needed & none of the staples for my food.

Up to date as far as frugal cat 🐈 🐱 Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2019 06:53

Thanks cag and curvy. It's all very shite here ATM. Not going to go into it and also not going to do Facebookesque wry comments.
Just saying so you know if I vanish or my posting is more curt.

WreckTangled · 11/01/2019 06:56

Sorry to hear that life Sad

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2019 06:58

Love the cat pic wreck. It's been a while s since we saw the animals.

Sorry to hear about your dh too. Pleased he is less stressed though. Swear away me dear

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/01/2019 06:59

Oh that last post was for cag. Re dh.
Thanks wreck. I will pull through but I'm feeling very low mood and there are a lot of stresses from all angles.
