Tax credits question. We haven't had any for ages and ages but this is what I received today. All details are correct I don't know if I need to do anything and if this means that we might get some money also why can't they work out the exact amount when they already know it Confused

Meh. I’ve been here a longtime, I remember the shiny sinks running out a few years ago.

It caused a rumpus on the housekeeping board.

They also make hob brite.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 27/06/2018 18:27

👍🏼 wolf

Win - SuperValu gave me gift card for the amount due as discount last week Grin

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/06/2018 18:43

wreck that looks like they are going to give you some money? If the details are correct (double check) then you don't need to do anything.

Popped to aldi, spent £44 about £6 of that was non food. Got lots of food and some payday treats as well 🍨🍫🍕🍑 had spaghetti bol for tea which was yummy.

WreckTangled · 27/06/2018 18:44

Girlie all details are correct. Do you think I just sit and wait? I'm guessing about six weeks until I hear any more. I don't want to get my hopes up but that would be enough to pay off and close the overdraft for the joint account and my own account with a small amount left over. Which would be amazing.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 27/06/2018 18:50

Wreck when does tax year end?

ChristmasSeacow · 27/06/2018 18:55

Should have said Cag - you might need to augment Cif with a bit of vinegar for stubborn limescale eg round the taps but cif gets rid of most stuff, including that brown look from tea stains etc.

Sorry you’re not further on Mammy but at least you are chipping away at getting things straightened out. I imagine it’d be a huge relief to move into somewhere that’s just yours though. When that happens we will all be really excited for you, à la Cag move!

I was pleasantly surprised by the low cost of uniform when kitting DS out last year - thanks to supermarkets entering the fray it’s relatively cheaper to get stuff like grey trousers etc than it was when I was at school and it was department stores or specialist uniform shops only. I remember uniform buying being a massive pressure for my parents, who were not at all well off. However, our primary is a very mixed demographic so they keep it really simple. All that proper logo stuff for secondary is another kettle of fish - ouch.

Those lunch time views were fab.

Sunny Music is a wonderful talent to have, lucky DS. I don’t hold out much hope for my two Grin

Another top up shop. I had to go to Sainies for click n collect and wanted to stock up on £1.30 frozen pizzas (chilli chicken one was really good, btw). Somehow spent £35. Ffs. I need to get a grip. This has been a very spendy month and next month we go on holiday so it’s not going to magically improve. And today dd is refusing cow’s milk 🙄

WreckTangled · 27/06/2018 18:55

It ended the end of March

LonelyOversharer · 27/06/2018 19:27

Have you included the pe kit wolf? Here it's a full school branded kit, with optional personalised hoody and all the boys have rugby hoodies too. Dd2 was about £150 all in plus a blazer for dd1, new for this school year, plus they changed the jumpers, but these were optional, so, no.

I spent £14 in the co-op on my way home on chicken goujons (2 packs are not enough, sigh), wraps and salad, cold tea tonight.

Another good day at work, the girl who had been there 3 months, just finishing training from scratch, just walked out at lunchtime Shock. This probably works in my favour with regards to a permanent contract. But I'm now staff!! Got a payslip, and I no longer need to be self employed as my home working is on my proper payslip. So I need to make some phone calls. Goody, cannot wait.🐸

Hmrc and tax credits. Question. May sound thick, but I've not had the prospect of earning over the min tax bracket before.

Do you just not pay tax on the first £11 or so k, then get taxed on the bit once you go over the line? Or do they take a bit every time? I honestly do not know how it works. But at this rate I should stand to earn about 14k in the year. This is epic for me, last years tax return was 3.4k.

Two of my dc need new trainers. This is not such a scary prospect anymore. It's such a relief. We will pop and get some probably on saturday, sketchers outlet.

WreckTangled · 27/06/2018 19:32

They'll average it out lonely say you're earning £2k a month they'll automatically take the correct tax for if you were earning £24k in the year. Does that make sense? So if you only worked for that one month in the whole year you'd end up with a tax rebate as you wouldn't hit the threshold in the tax year.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/06/2018 19:33

You pay a bit every month.

ememem84 · 27/06/2018 19:36

Nice evening in the park. Ds played with his toys we had dinner. £1.90 for a portion of chips to go with out wraps. Le yum.

We have a quote for fire doors (we have the doors but need new hinges, and intumescent strips on all of them) and smoke and heat detectors in the apartment. £1500 including labour. It’s a lot. We could get it cheaper if we shopped around but it brings us one step closer to selling. So we’re going for it.

Wolfcub · 27/06/2018 19:45

Lonely that’s the price for top half of uniform and top half of pe kit. All branded and different pe kit for in and out. I think with shoes, coat, bag, trainers, bottom half of pe kit and trousers I’m looking at nearly £300 all in.

Wolfcub · 27/06/2018 19:45

And that doesn’t include a jumper which I refuse to buy until mid winter

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/06/2018 19:50

I thought fluff was being thingy too, should have known better.
Yeah lonely, pleased your are enjoying the role and fingers crossed for permenant contact. You will only pay tax on the amount over the threshold but over the year, does dp pay tax. What's the deal with married tax allowance? Do you have to be married to share tax codes?
Why does that feel like a stupid question.

What next mammy if he doesn't mediate. Does it make it easier to get to the next step?

YY wolf I would get him to pay what he owes while he can. H got you into this situation by his actions, least he can do is pay for his son.

£53 in Sainsbury's. £10 on cute taggie toys for next doors twins.
Would any of you parents have been offended by being given Muslin squares as a present. I loved them and was toying with popping some in but it's not an obvious present.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/06/2018 19:51

Pleased the beach was good em. Defo best to be organised as you were.

Gosh wolf that's expensive, we've got they joy next year.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/06/2018 20:02

wreck on my tax credit letter it tells me when and how much the payments will be, I assume that sum on your letter would be paid in 12 installments. It might be worth ringing to check, there is a way of checking online but in 12 years I've not figured it out 😂

WreckTangled · 27/06/2018 20:04

Girlie it's for the last tax year though so they're saying we were underpaid as the amount due for our current tax year is def £0.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/06/2018 20:04

Oh I've just relooked at your letter, I think they mean you're not getting any more money, sorry 😟

WreckTangled · 27/06/2018 20:09

It's the potential payment bit I'm looking at

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/06/2018 20:14

The cost of uniform is ridiculous wolf if your ds's school has a fb parents page it might be worth joining as any parents selling uniform would post there. I actually picked up two second hand school jumpers today for £5, forgot to post that spend!

Dd will need new trainers, a labelled school hoodie for pe, poss new pe shorts, a new labelled skirt (£22!) Plus new school shoes. Could cry thinking about it 😢

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 27/06/2018 20:16

Oh yeah wreck i guess just wait and see then 😕

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/06/2018 20:41

Without seeing the other figures, which in not asking you to post, I think it's means you are not getting anything.
The first figure is the amount of CTC? The second how much you have been paid? And the this your potential payment for that period.
When they have balanced out HMRC are saying zero balance.
Wish I was wrong though. Hope I am.

WreckTangled · 27/06/2018 20:56

Life I think blanking our the figures has made in confusing, sorry.

The total amount to be paid is X
Payments made by them already is Y
Potential payment =X-Y

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/06/2018 21:03

No worries wreck.
