I’m at the stables. My lesson was meant to be at 3 (according to the text I got). Turns out it’s at 330 so I arrived massively early. Still nice to be out in the sun!

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/06/2018 16:10

£4 on flowers for my pal, £7.75 in the coop. Had to dash in for halloumi and the £5 deal is ok so got that too. First world problems and all that

WreckTangled · 24/06/2018 16:31

Hooray! Dd's giant verruca fell out!

AdoraBell · 24/06/2018 16:38

Yay Wreck 👍

We’re on holiday. Can’t actually afford it, so I’m struggling to enjoy it Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/06/2018 16:53

Oh dear Adora that's a bit shit. Where are you?

Taytocrisps · 24/06/2018 17:00

Sorry to hear that Adora Sad. I've had that experience before and it's pretty miserable.

I forgot to say that my driving licence renewal form arrived in the post during the week. That will be €55.

NSD today.

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/06/2018 17:57

We had an ok trip away. Car was boiling hot, m25 yesterday was sloooow and we don't have working air con. It was nice seeing some of DPs relatives, there were about 60 people there in total- lots of 3rd/4th cousins and people related through grandparents etc. Spent about £45 on food. We may have listened to the Sing soundtrack numerous times in the car to keep the DDs happy.

Although I do need to ask who the weirdo here is. When leaving a gathering/party, my DP has this thing where we cannot leave at the same time as someone else. Eg his brother and family will make their move to leave, which then means we have to wait another 20 minutes until we can then leave. Please tell me this isn't some kind of social etiquette that I don't understand?! DPs parents don't do it, in fact they are normally the first to leave Hmm. We can never leave first.

Hope you manage to enjoy yourself adaora Thanks

Cagliostro · 24/06/2018 17:57

Oh that is miserable adora I hope you can enjoy at least a little and claw back some fun, you deserve it 💐

Well I am absolutely fucking shattered. The irony of the day is that the short sponsored walk was by far the least exhausting thing about the day! It is the planning, travelling and being socially ‘on’ all day that gets me.

It was a nice day though and I also realised that the fact the walk itself was easy is a win for me, as a couple of years ago it would’ve been unthinkable to do even that one mile stroll around the lake. Whereas today it was like nothing.

DD has chosen to round off her birthday with a takeaway and most likely greatest showman again 😂 she loves her new phone, I am a bit sad I now have an eleven year old 😱 also she has been given some birthday money and as for the first time ever she can’t decide what to buy with it she has asked to set up a bank account!

I. Feel. Old.

Congratulations on being accepted on your course north

Enjoy your holiday bornlazy. I love Portugal, that was our last holiday before DC. Would love to go back again

Loveabaconsandwich · 24/06/2018 18:07

Happy birthday cagDD 🎉

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/06/2018 18:42

Happy birthday cag dd.

No love it's not etiquette I've heard of. Usually people just leave when they want. If it's some one significant I might wait until they have left guilt before going ourselves so 2 groups are not leaving together but not wait 20 minutes.
Think grandparent v friend at a child's party. I would wait to go after the grandparents rather than at the same time. Friends - doesn't matter.
Does that make sense.

Wolfcub · 24/06/2018 18:59

Happy birthday Cag dd. 🦄🍰⭐️
Adora whereabouts have you gone? There’s an extent to which you are committed now perhaps try and limit further spending to minimise the damage but do try to relax and enjoy yourself

SnugglySnerd · 24/06/2018 19:14

Happy birthday Cag's dd. Pleased to hear she's becoming a mini frugaleer!

Cute cat pic Wreck and I'm pleased he's OK.

NSD. Hooray!

SunnyLikeThursday · 24/06/2018 19:28

We had a good day with the grandparents today, hacking back bamboo that they want rid of from their garden. Frugal, and also good fun.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/06/2018 20:06

Bamboo

Love He’s being weird. I have a fixed cut off of 22:30 or I turn into a witch.

Cag I’m glad she enjoyed her birthday & is being sensible with the money. Is it enough for one of those isa plans you can get cashback on?. They do them on the stocks and shares ones but by now the L.I.S.A might have cashback or a children’s one.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/06/2018 21:07

@LighthouseSouth

What kind of quantities do you need for this spray?. I’ve tried neat glycerine in the past but it was too gloopy to do anything.

I’ve used it as a base for sugar scrubs though instead of oil before a fake tan.

ememem84 · 24/06/2018 21:18

Dh is a muppet. But I am back to giving zero fucks.

He wanted to go to the beach today. I was riding at 3. Incidentally the best lesson I’ve had for a while. Yay.

Anyhoo. Dh drops me at the stables. Then I thought he was going for a walk with ds. Turns out nope. They drove home sat at home for 29 minutes then drove back. Then went to the shop for steak for dinner after picking me up. Then moaned about having to spend ages in the car. Then didn’t stay in the car when we got home so I could run in throw on some shorts and then go to the beach. Ds was asleep in the car so I had to get him out. Ffs.

Dh has now moaned because he didn’t get to nap on the beach. I’ve told him to stfu and to grow up. I’m also exhausted. I don’t want to go to the beach to facilitate his naps.

He wants to nap he does it in the house.

He’s moaned about wasting the weekend. Because I was ill yesterday (I didn’t make you stay indoors........?!?!) aaaah.

And calm.

mammynowanauntyIRL · 24/06/2018 22:07

Grrr em at your dh - you're getting on with things after going through a tough time emotionally and now he's deciding to play up Shock
Glad to hear your horse riding went well.

H took dc to beach today, just before he left, he said to dc let's go so Mammy can have a break HmmAngry, I took them to beach yesterday and when we came back we smelled food but couldn't find any, turns out he'd cooked for himself and no one else Hmm I made sure to be missing this evening so he'd have to make dinner for them, he left a huge bowl of baked beans and a charred chicken burger for me and two children in bath with wet hair, I'd already bathed them yesterday a quick shower would've sufficed today but would've been more work for him.

Adora sorry to read that about your holiday, we had holiday like that two years ago. I just got on with it but H was a bit taken over by it. We were self catering so once we had food in I was happy as almost everything on site was included.

Love I suppose he doesn't want it to be a mass exodus and the party to clear out in one fell swoop?

Happy birthday cagdd

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 24/06/2018 22:45

Quick sign on before bed, busy but nice day here. Got up and went to the jnr parkrun this morning, dd came 4th in her age category and I managed to run round without stopping so pleased with that!

Watched the football which was brilliant and popped to a friends this afternoon. Nsd.

Happy birthday to your dd is cag my dd has had a nationwide account for a few years now and has a fair bit saved in it, she has the old fashioned savings book which I like! Probably will look to upgrade the account next year so she a proper bank card!

It sounds like your dh deliberately tries to make you feel shit em?

Work tomos do best 😴

ChristmasSeacow · 25/06/2018 00:15

A late check-in...

Happy birthday to CagDD. 11 - wow! You are still not old though Wink

Hope you can enjoy your holiday a bit Adora

North your poor DS’s eyes... that sounds a bit grim for him. I hope they are better for his prom.

Love it’s not you that’s weird. I’ve only ever avoided leaving early or with other people when a party is a bit thinly populated and I want to spare the host’s feelings. But that hardly ever applies.

Wreck glad you’re still with us!

We’ve had such a manic weekend. Had PILs, my DM and my sisters over for a birthday lunch for DD. My dad was missed Sad. It was meant to be a barbecue but when it came to the crunch DH couldn’t get it to work. He had given it a clean for its first outing this year but didn’t think to try it in advance. So I ended up cooking the very expensive rib eye steaks on the hob but no harm done: I managed to get them med-rare but caramelised (I’m decent at cooking steak - thanks for the lessons DDad 😘). I’d made fancy vegetable side dishes and there is tonnes of food left - defo lunches all week and some dinners too. DH and I are still full so didn’t bother with dinner! DD’s cake looked good but I wasn’t keen on the sponge - a bit wet I thought. It was an American recipe, I’ll go back to my usual next time.

Expensive weekend - £179 for oven fixing on Friday (haven’t paid yet as invoice hadn’t come through but expecting it tomorrow), and Shock for the rib eye steaks in naice butchers. But it was lovely for DD to have her close family around her. I took some pictures with my proper camera - they’d have been lovely if it wasn’t for the inevitable snot smeared over DD’s face. Every. Time. Damn that cold.

Wolfcub · 25/06/2018 06:39

Morning all. Em if dh had wanted to go to the beach and laze he could have set the alarm and got his arse out of bed earlier. The only person wasting his weekend is himself.

Mammy sorry your h is being an arse. They certainly know how to create extra work.

Sea glad the birthday celebrations went well.

Ds is off on his long school residential this week. Normally I’m totally unfazed by these things. Definitely wobbly today though. My parents are also going off for the week today so I have their house to look after as well as my own. Should keep me busy

ChristmasSeacow · 25/06/2018 06:56

Fluffy any recommendations of what I should use to treat cracked skin on my feet? I gave them a good soak /scrub last night and they are a lot better but I think I need a magic cream/ ointment or something.

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/06/2018 07:14

Double base gel. Apply daily but do NOT rub it in. Just smooth it over the skin and let it settle. It sinks in really quickly.

Doing it twice a day is key as the feet sweat a lot.

LonelyOversharer · 25/06/2018 07:18

Morning all. Up bright and early for work! Does the novelty wear off?

em I really hoped with mil going back that your dh would settle down. He's being a bit of a tit, by the sounds of it. I'm with wolf, he wasted his own weekend.

I did a fair bit of gardening yesterday, but it was really too hot. Took dd1 to do some shopping, £50 ish in aldi, £18 in poundstretcher, and about £28 in tescos. About £20 of it was not stictly needed. Unless you count a spider catcher (dd had seen them on you tube) as a necessity (she certainly did).

We had a nice tea, batted out chicken with motzarella and chard inside with parma ham wrapped round. I make a huge long sausage of it, barely fitted in the oven. Jersey royals (on super 6, as wonky veg, but sooo tasty) and veg.

Oh, for beakfast I made a 'blueberry breakfast cake' found on pintrest. Cut into 6 chunks with plain yoghurt on, it was gone in moments. Definitely make that again. Sort of half scone, half cake.

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/06/2018 08:05

Morning
Do any of you medical types think I should get dd foot checked.
Right foot, down the outside from the little toe above the arch she is complaining it's hurting. She is limping a bit. Ice and ibuprofen given.
Trampoline party yesterday she bounced funnily then bashed her footr off the sides pads.
No visible bruising or swelling.
I'm torn as to what to do
