I've just spent £74 on my parents anniversary. It's flowers and champagne, mind.
Confused

QforCucumber · 28/08/2015 10:42

I've found the magnum dishwasher tablets from aldi to be brilliant, I can even break them in half and only use half - so really get 80 washes for the price of 40, which is always a bonus as dishwasher is on 3 times a week - gives me almost 6 months worth of dishwashing for about a fiver Smile

I've written and xmas present list for everyone, and worked out from what I already have I can knock 6 peoples presents off the list. Tesco also have 1litre bottles of Gordons gin, smirnoff Vodka, Morgans spiced and a couple of other spirits for £16 a go so going to buy some today and some next week and either keep them for xmas drinks at home or put them in with the presents for brothers.

ipsos · 28/08/2015 11:05

I bought a big 5kg bag of Tilde rice as it was half the price of the small bags, but it smells dusty like animal feed. I wonder why? It must just be the same stuff in a bigger bag, mustn't it?

peppansalt · 28/08/2015 11:08

Lilia, there is no budget ????, YNAB will go into meltdown!

But will have to find money from somewhere and want to get a machine that's up to the job

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 12:20

I had an aeg that was really long lived. it had been his ex's machine and refused to die.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 12:22

Peppa, Miele have a factory shop in Oxford. They publish the stock list online.

TheOnlyPink · 28/08/2015 12:46

When tesco deliver my stuff it comes in crates, the driver brings them to my kitchen one at a time, so I have one emptied onto my counter or table while he gets the next one. You have to empty them anyway, so only takes a second to check dates, but the driver always asks if everything is ok before I sign for it. Funny how things are different, there's no way you could unload plastic bags while the driver waits!

Spent more than I really wanted to today, but had a lovely morning out with just ds 2. Spent €7 in the cafe and €12 in tesco. He's off to preschool on Monday, so it's our last day just the two of us! Ds 1 was at school when ds 2 was born, so we had lots of trips out just the two of us. Sniff! Wink

Passthecake30 · 28/08/2015 13:08

I'd go with the Miele..though a friend had a cheap washing machine for about 20yrs before it died. ...maybe it depends on how you treat them too, I also go through irons and kettlesBlush

At a soft play, entrance, lunch and ice cream will total £30 but I've not taken them to a soft play for about 4 months and I guess they were due?!

Frugal win in that ds didn't need school shoes. Had a show down with dd as she wanted Clarks "Daisy" as they came with plastic tatt and stickers, they fit awfully so I won...but have promised her similar tatt elsewhere (if she remembers! )
£34 on shoes.

ipsos · 28/08/2015 13:16

All that is optional with Tesco delivery. You just need to tick "no bags" to get delivered in crates only. Mine comes in bags which are in crates. If it's not working I just call up and they fix the problem immediately. They've been great for us.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 13:18

It's such a hard choice isn't it? I tie myself in knots looking at reviews and discount codes.

£3.49 on a family sized pack of tassimo carte noire intense espresso, 24 pods. B&M.
£5 butcher.
£2 Morrison for egg rings. Same things £5 in sainsbos Shock
£31 aldi
95p super drug shampoo.
£4.65 in sainsbos but that's all stuff that's free on click snap so I'll get that back.

I've got everything I needed to make sausage and egg mc muffins at home tomorrow morning. Dh is not optimistic it will turn out well Angry

Been paid for an invoice, thank god.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 28/08/2015 13:24

We have a miele, I love it. It was on sale but still very expensive, 3 years old and going strong.

What are egg rings?? The mind boggles...

Have been reading the marriage thread, all very interesting but people getting pretty defensive.

On way to get cable ties to put up willow screens over the hideous chain-link fence in our garden. Can't wait.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 13:32

Egg rings are two aluminium rings about an inch deep that make fried eggs perfectly round in the pan.

ipsos · 28/08/2015 13:40

If you put one in side the other can you make polo mints out of eggs? That would be great. :-)

Whatabout · 28/08/2015 14:05

£23 on a close Caboo baby sling. This will join my ergo and hopefully a woven wrap. Got it just for the early days and will sell it on. Got it from Boots half price and double points and it should hold 75% of its value.

£550 on new buggy, saved for and sorted, so that's good. It'll hold most of its value so that will help when we sell it on.

£13 on McDonalds for lunch. Naughty.

My hips and pelvis have gone completely so I'm now sofa / bed bound until baby comes on the 8th. I'll try small trips out with company over the weekend with my crutches but otherwise I'm done. I'm going to attempt to put a few things on eBay today as something positive to do!

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 14:10

ipsos they are both the same size Sad

what Good plan. Dh buys stuff knowing he can sell it on. Are you being induced?.

TheOnlyPink · 28/08/2015 14:13

what that sounds painful, you poor thing. Have you a section/induction booked for the 8th?

We cancelled sky a few months ago. They just phoned dh and offered him free sky until January, with no contract. Then half price for 6 month contract. I'm happy with that, I miss sky plus much more than I thought, watching things live is tricky! May cancel in January tho, we will see how it goes! But will have sky for the Christmas season!

Whatabout · 28/08/2015 14:15

I'm having a c section for my breech baby, low lying placenta and knackered spine. I had my son vaginally and ended up in a very bad way afterwards. I'm quite terrified about the major surgery, but what will be and all that.

TheOnlyPink · 28/08/2015 14:19

Aw what best of luck with it, sounds like the section is unavoidable. Flowers

ipsos · 28/08/2015 15:12

Good luck what. I hope it goes well. Probably a good idea to have best rest now given the work involved in having a new baby to look after.

peppansalt · 28/08/2015 15:14

What.. You poor thing! Flowers

Freeandsinglewater · 28/08/2015 15:49

Well, that trip on town could have been more expensive.
£21 on my top for two functions, possibly three
£22 on DS top for the same two functions
Grin

Down side £10 for lunch at m and s, and a toy £10

Lovetoknit · 28/08/2015 16:08

Good luck what Flowers and make sure you have plenty of rest and yes I know it's not easy when you have other dc
NSD today which is good since I did spent £50 at Lidl and £20 at fabric shop yesterday. If you like sliced cheese in your sandwiches like my ds they had 1 kg of Gouda for £3.99. I have one resealable pack in the fridge and 3 more in the freezer.
Sunny day today so dc are playing in the garden while I work. Hope it's same tomorrow so I can take them to the park or the beach especially since it's supposed to rain again on Sunday.

ohhelpohnoitsa · 28/08/2015 16:09

What is there any chance the aches and pains could be the start of things?
fluffy you can make very frugal home made crumpets too with those rings.
Lidl was about £ 40 - had guessed about 35 but I couldnt reaist some of their spanish specials ...churros and tortilla. Yum. I had ordered and saved a basket online from tesco and will do a price check later....I am not sure Tesco was that much more to be honest. I think Lidl is loads cheaper on some things, but its on the things I dont buy like pop and formed ham...they were so cheap. I am their sucker...the Lidl shopper that still goes for the most expensive choice. I LOVE their okos yogurts. Soooooo delicious.

Pointlessfan · 28/08/2015 16:43

Good luck What and I hope you can get a good rest over the next couple of weeks.
Hairdresser was £27. My lovely mum is taking me birthday shopping tomorrow Smile

peppansalt · 28/08/2015 16:48

sorry to be a bore.... £850 for Miele washing machine from John Lewis. comes with 10 year guarantee. Do I bite the bullet??
