Pointless - I saw a trail for that, I am obviously amongst good company as it made me cross but I still enjoyed it last time!

Finished the day with £16 on a spice subscription for my dad's birthday and £12 on a JML Absorbsnt door mat. I'm sick of having a wet kitchen floor from people coming in from outside. We had a similar one before but DH got rid of it. I'm not sure why.

Laska42 · 27/08/2015 21:00

A few Christmases ago , i ordered on Tesco delivery for christmas eve and specified a red cabbage . it didnt give a weight just 'whole' red cabbage . Anyway call me naive but i expected a , you know cabbage sized cabbage? When it came it was literally the size of a tennis ball! Yes really , no bigger than that (I mean come on...) .CUE me sending Dh u out to nearest shop ( where he promptly spent lots more £££ on Christmas 'treats' we didnt need) for an effin red cabbage big enough to make enough for 4 people for christmas dinner .. I never used Tesco delivery again...

QforCucumber · 27/08/2015 21:07

Last tesco order we got a whole cucumber which was dated the next day, and leaked washing up liquid all over my veg to which the driver said 'just rinse it and it'll be ok' it was soaked through the onoin skins!! Keep meaning to try asda and forgetting so just go to aldi first thing on a Saturday now for the big shop

Pointlessfan · 27/08/2015 21:09

Whatabout those are the mats I've been trying to get hold of - everywhere has sold out including the JML website! Where did you track one down?

AuditAngel · 27/08/2015 21:13

Hi everyone, welcome newbies, thanks for the new thread.

NSD.

I am now watching the Anne Robinson programme, I am told someone I know appears in it.

TheOnlyPink · 27/08/2015 21:23

Definitely complain about the washing machine. We had a 4 year old tv from currys that died. Dh hounded them, they agreed to repair it. They had the tv for 6 weeks, decided they couldn't get the part and refunded us a 3rd of the price. I think we could have gotten more but tbh we wanted it over and it was better than nothing. I would definitely expect a washing machine to last longer. We got a new bosh one 2 years ago and its amazing.

So shocked to hear all the bad experiences with tesco! I've been getting deliveries every week for over a year and Christmas deliveries for 3, and never have a problem. But I think here, the stuff doesn't come in bags, so much easier to check dates when unloading, so anything can just go back. I see on tv that in the UK it's plastic bags to the front door?

That eat well for less show was awful! Although my mum spends like those people and did learn a few things from it.

Big hello to all the September newbies! Flowers

babsmam · 27/08/2015 21:26

I've had a thingy from sainsbury saying the law is changing in England on 5 October I think and once use carriers are going to be charged at 5p each. They are putting a standing charge of 40 p on each order unless I select bagless at the checkout. no website option for permanent no bags. I feel an email coming on.
Anyway get you reusable bags ladies and gents.

Whatabout · 27/08/2015 21:34

Pointless - it was your desire for one that made me look for one as I needed one. I got it from Amazon. Not sure if it is quite the same as you were after but worth a look x

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/08/2015 21:35

Audit

I hope it isn't radley bag woman.

blueteapot · 27/08/2015 21:49

The bag thing is like that in NI already babsman (5p a carrier bag wherever you go) - is it not in England? Down south in the ROI you seem to get paper bags which arent charged.

The indesit machines have 10 years on parts but not labour or accidental damage eg bra wires etc - I have taken out an extra warranty at £2 a month which covers the rest

AuditAngel · 27/08/2015 21:59

Ha ha, not Radley bag lady.

I balk at paying £169 for a bag. I do A&E one bag that cost £169 for, but DH paid. I have had it about 6 years, not in every day use now as looking a bit ratty, but was used daily for a couple of years.

It is the boy with the £600-£700 phone. He goes to dancing with my kids. He is a lovely boy. His younger sister and DD1 are really good friends, although they haven't known each other for long.

TheOnlyPink · 27/08/2015 22:00

Paper bags are only in non food stores, and not every shop has them. Plastic bags are like 22c, been like this for so long now, I've forgotten what it's like to have free bags!

AuditAngel · 27/08/2015 22:00

What they didn't say was that those children are all at Stage school, so will probably be earning their own money.

candybar · 27/08/2015 22:02

I've spent £92 on a tesco delivery this morning, I usually try and get a big shop the week I get paid so I'll stick up on washing detergent, toiletries, toilet rolls and cleaning stuff so if money does get tighter towards the end of the month (it always does) I've got a stash.

Our elderly dog had to go to the vets, £115, he's so poorly with heart disease and I'm so sad, we've had him longer that the two younger dc's and I just can't imagine it without him around. He's on lots of different medication to try and help him.Sad

Tomorrow the car is in for its M.O.T, fingers crossed it passes, I've got a half price voucher so that should help.

Husband gets paid tomorrow, so I can go out and get some stuff for dd1 who will be 10 next week, she's having a few friends over so I need to buy a some bits for them, we invited 10 but only five have replied, I don't know what to do about that - with party bags etc. going to do pizza for them with a chocolate fountain afterwards. She's really looking forward to it so I hope the ones that have replied remember to come along, that's the problem when they have birthdays at the end of the summer hols.

I need to look into those absorbent door mats, we have wooden floors so they get in an awful state in the winter.

AuditAngel · 27/08/2015 22:02

When I get a Tesco delivery, it can be 8 trays, i don't want to tip 8 trays of stuff out onto the floor, i wouldn't get to the cupboards.

Perhaps if we make the delivery man wait while we put them away?

AdoraBell · 27/08/2015 22:32

That's a pain Collie

My DH and his bloody family think I waist money using Sainsbo's but I've never had any problems and this week's shopping was 94p cheaper than Asda Grin spent £84 this week as needed all dishwasher stuff. Bloke who fitted the dishwasher told me the machines need to draw the salt and rinse aid at different times, so don't buy the all singing and dancing tabs. So I've gone back to separate powder.

Does anyone know if citronella oil will annoy the dogs? I want to douse the house put some down to deter bugs but the digs sleep in the kitchen and there's a fecking huge spider by my foot, it just scuttled across the room

Freeandsinglewater · 27/08/2015 22:37

Right I'm Deffo not going to fall off this month, damn Jeffrey!

A NSD!
Yay, tomorrow I have a anniversary to get for and I need a cheap day out for DS.

needastrongone · 27/08/2015 22:47

Afternoon.

Glad it wasn't just me that found the Radley bag woman irritating Smile

Welcome new folk, waves.

£20 on Hog Roast tickets for September.

Morrisons are doing a delivery pass if anyone is interested? It's very cheap for mid week deliveries, especially if you can buy an annual pass.

candy Poor ddog. I have 2 young ones, ddog1 is snoring next to me now. I can only imagine how you feel Sad

Lovetoknit · 27/08/2015 22:52

Thank you for the new thread
We have LG direct drive 9kg washing machine which we bought in the sale in Currys about 4 years ago after we only had problems with Aquarius from Hotpoint. It has 10 year guarantee for motor, it's very energy efficient and also it was expensive when we bought it it's worth it. But I know it's not an easy decision if you have a limited budget.
I have stopped doing regular online orders from Tesco after they sent me crappy fruit and veg and I used to get lot of substitutions. They just sent me another coupon £12 off if you spent £60 so I might try again.

ipsos · 27/08/2015 22:56

ds suddenly grew out of all his shoes at once this week and he needs three pairs for school, which starts next Thursday. We had to brave Clarks in the last week of the holiday. Eeep! We did it though, and I even managed to get sensible sized ones, rather than the teeny tiny 5mm growing room one that the fitter recommended. I got a full size up in the largest width they had and ds said they were the most comfortable. Fitter wanted a half size up in the narrowest size. Woohoo!

ipsos · 27/08/2015 22:57

I also had a good idea and am giving the old ones (mint condition) as a present to the family who are nice to me at the school gate and whose kids have smaller feet. Getting brain in gear and actually using it today.

ipsos · 27/08/2015 23:12

We destroyed a series of washing machines and finally bought a miele one for a lot of money with a 10 year guarantee. The motor failed after a year and was replaced under guarantee so I was pleased with that. It's been a great machine otherwise. Our previous ones were rubbish, and disintegrated, or stopped heating water, or poured water all over the kitchen. The real low point was a washer drier which covered everything in white fluff every time for no particular reason. I finally convinced the retailer to take it back on Christmas eve and had no washing machine for the whole Christmas week of that year.

lilacclery · 27/08/2015 23:26

Wow you guys have been busy while I was catching up on emmerdale Grin
Going to look into buying those microfibre mats you speak of too.

Big expense of childcare tomo €270 for a week! 5 long days & 2 hours sat while I do a 5k endurance race. Gulp, they've had a fun week but I'm glad we've a new au pair coming so that they can stay in bed past 6.30am!

3.23€ on bread, crisps and some corn. I only went in for bread and got distracted looking for beans.

AdoraBell · 27/08/2015 23:33

I got the same email re carrier bags babs, haven't looked since tho so didn't nice the lack of a permanent option.

Candy sorry to hear about your eldest dog, hope the meds make him more comfortable.

Oh, and the ILs think I waste money, not waist Blush
