Peppa - having killed several washing machines and not having the money to buy one outright I rented one for several years. It was a Bosch and cost about £12 a month and I had the peace of mind that when anything went wrong it would be fixed or replaced for free. The only reason I stopped renting was because I got a new kitchen and needed an integrated machine.

Hope you don't mind me butting in, I was lurking.

AdoraBell · 28/08/2015 00:45

Everyone is welcome Lurleene Smile

babsmam · 28/08/2015 06:01

Butt away lurleen

We still have free carriers including England. Most other times I have my reusable so with my left in the car too far from the shop it is just the deliveries that piss me off especially as I've complained a couple of times about single items in carriers.

Aldi today then prep for camping. Still need to write names in uniform but got a laundry sharpie so that should be easy (excited over pen = loser)

babsmam · 28/08/2015 06:02

Ipsos that's a lovely idea about the shoes.

Collieputthekettleon · 28/08/2015 06:33

We had one pot of cream in a carrier bag last night! We do our top up shops in sainsburys and our main at tesco. Might start using sainsbos fully again. Rock n roll! Grin

We're on page 4 already. Welcome newbies and I love the brief delurking lurleen. I never considered renting appliances before Smile

Pointlessfan · 28/08/2015 06:59

The excessive carrier bags are one of the reasons I hate online shopping, I loathe carrier bags. I got cross the other day when the checkout lady put my broccoli in a plastic bag! I am a bit of an eco-warrior though!
Going back to Radley Bag Lady (I'm sure she'd love being referred to as a bag lady!) if my bag was that expensive I'd be worried about getting mugged! Audit I thought that boy seemed lovely and actually realised what it had cost his parents to buy it for him.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 07:00

One of our family got tired of washing machines dying after 2 years and bought a Miele too. They said it took four men to move it when they moved house last year and it's tank like in it's construction. It's years old now and still going.

There's 20% off miele appliances in the sidebar on here recently but I dont know if it's wm or dw because I havent clicked on it.

Candy how is the dog today? it's heartbreaking isn't it?.

Passthecake30 · 28/08/2015 07:10

Pay day at last! I have the urge to splurge. ...must resist!

Got a clarks fitting appointment today so that'll cost be about £80. Dd also needs some leggings as hers are at half mast across her bum and had an argument with her ankles. I have a day off with the kids today, they are wanting to go somewhere like soft play as been at the cminders for the last few days.

Spends recently -£2.50 on a family calendar for next year from pound stretcher, I usually spend £9 on a grufflalo one. £20 massage last night and £30 ish in tescos, included bargain 3p wholemeal rolls as it was around 9pm and free cheese.

Has anyone started thinking about Xmas yet?

Passthecake30 · 28/08/2015 07:13

I have a miele as I went through many many washing machines, I think it was about £700 at the time and included 5 years guarantee. The price was similar to other decent ones plus paying for the additional guarantee

lilacclery · 28/08/2015 07:39

In Ireland when Tesco deliver the veg/fruit comes in a paper bag, this just started recently & sometimes the cleaning stuff the rest is loose in crates. I just tip all the crates out on the kitchen floor and deal with them when the delivery guy is gone. They've a lot of deliveries to get done in their day too so it's good to get them back on the road as quickly as possible. I also have to scan mine for my shopandscan membership so that takes time.

Loving the talk of washing machines & getting a decent one. When I bought mine in 2008, 9kg was virtually unheard of & my mother thought I was mad, 2 children later I'm glad I bought that one. It's an electrolux and was so new they didn't even have one on display in the shop but I trusted the saleswoman, she died since of cancer in her early 40s Sad but everything she sold us has lasted the distance, well past their 5 year extended guarantee.

All our appliances were Bosch or Miele when we moved in (new build). Must say, no problem with either so far, nearly 4 years in.

Morrisons delivery today and pre-holiday nails.

Must catch up with my personal finances too, as I haven't written it all down since pay day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2015 08:13

Mines 9kg and there's only us. Dh says its shrinks his clothes but none of mine shrink. Beer and sausage rolls make clothes shrink.

White Knight are good, proper workhorse machines from what I see online.

AuditAngel · 28/08/2015 08:13

We have a Miele washing machine. It is about 10 years old (definitely more than 9, could be older). It was a Which best buy, and we chose it because it was very quiet when spinning. The old house had an all through reception with the kitchen off it, and we didn't want it interrupting our TV watching!

That said, we bought a Miele dishwasher that was so bad, eventually Miele refunded us the purchase price (thanks to the assistance if M&S white goods who were on their case), we still hated it when it hadn't cost us anything! We replaced it with a Siemens, which we had in the old house (but that wax slimline)

fuzzpig · 28/08/2015 08:14

We were told a few months back that Tesco had a new scheme where you could check all the veg and send it back. Never actually get the chance though as the delivery is always very quick! Not had many issues though, and they are always good about refunding if you ring up (which does rather beg the question - how easy would it be to lie? Confused)

Collieputthekettleon · 28/08/2015 08:54

fuzzpig I thought that too! I took photos of all the short dates and they didn't want them. I'm pretty sure they'll have to introduce stricter rules soon. Confused

pass I've been thinking about the C word too. No not that C word - the other one! I usually do my Christmas food shop on Nectar points but they halved the amount of points you collect so I doubt we can do it this year. definitely have to start putting aside some money per month. I've been stupid & keep putting it off.

Poor candydog Sad

needastrongone · 28/08/2015 08:55

I have always had a 12kg washing machine, I thought this was standard size Smile

Freeandsinglewater · 28/08/2015 08:57

No not the c word. It's still summer!!!
[wails]

Right cheap/ free day out....... Park?

Wolfcub · 28/08/2015 09:01

Delurking briefly to say that for those having problems with Tesco try Ocado. They price match Tesco, you can see when you order how many days shelf.life things will have and there are vouchers kicking about in food magazines and online for free midweek delivery for a year and £20 off first shops. I'd given up on online shopping due to continued rubbish deliveries but Ocado have been great and if there are problems with items you just raise the issue through the app.

Collieputthekettleon · 28/08/2015 09:12

wolf I used to use ocado every week. They bought me free flowers & wine every month! I love their food & they are such good value.

But..... They don't deliver down here in the SW.

Collieputthekettleon · 28/08/2015 09:12

(I used them when I lived in the SE)

peppansalt · 28/08/2015 09:44

God my head is spinning from thinking about washing machines (pardon the pun Grin.

So AO.com have a cheap Bosch (£280) but I'd be looking at paying about £7 pm for aftercare once the 2 year guarantee expires. Could also get cashback via Quidco

Or JL have an Indesit for £249 + £75 for extended guarantee to 5 years.

Our last 2 machines have been Bosch and TBH not impressed; however am very wary of buying a 'cheap' machine even with the long guarantee. It would be used at least once if not twice daily.

What to do???? Must order one today

peppansalt · 28/08/2015 09:51

just seen AO also have a Miele at £650. 5 year guarantee.

Worth the investment??

lilacclery · 28/08/2015 09:54

Peppansalt I was like this about a new dishwasher last Nov, Dec & Jan but mine was just giving trouble and not finito like yours fast forward to now I still haven't bought one! There's so much choice, options and costs Hmm

What's your budget?

ipsos · 28/08/2015 09:59

I've been using tesco delivery for years and it's always great here. We have the odd weird thing, but having the people do the shopping and delivery for me is so great that I don't care. I wouldn't be without them.

There's a checkbox to say if you want bags or no bags so that's easily sorted and if there's a problem with food being a bit off then you can ring up after the fact and they refund the cost.

Pointlessfan · 28/08/2015 10:17

Just spent £66 in Asda on a top up shop, ridiculous! The top up included dishwasher and washing powder, loo and kitchen roll and pants for DH but even so! Also got enough food to last until Wednesday as Wednesdays will be my day off next term so I want to do the weekly shop then.
Just realised it's payday today because of the bank holiday - hooray!!
