I agree about spread fluffy plus butter is so delicious!
Birthday tomorrow! My mum came round earlier with an amazing cake she made for me. Just ate my second slice!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/09/2015 20:45

My hair is boob length. It's so fine it looks shit short. Which is good as I don't like paying for it to be cut Grin

Girlfriend36 · 04/09/2015 21:15

I am 36 and have got very thick long hair, don't plan on getting it cut short any time soon!

I decided that spreads taste rank so will only use butter now as well, agree with the concerns over palm oil as well.

My mum popped over earlier and bought us lots of food - very good of her and much needed as the cupboards are pretty bare! Will still have to get some more supplies tomos though i think.

lilacclery · 04/09/2015 21:56

The payment pending on my account is for prebooking nct remaining 54 will go out on Sunday when I do test, could it be something you've prebooked?

In answer to fluffy? I think no the driver didn't stop!

Tesco just arrived used my €10 off €50 voucher & spent €40.58 including free delivery.
Personal spends was €7 on lunch

fishfortea · 04/09/2015 22:09

As far as I know I have not got anything pending - most bizarre! Will def be keeping a very close eye on my account. I have been using cash a lot so far this month.

AdoraBell · 04/09/2015 22:24

D'oh! not and NSDBlush forgot about school dinners, £6 for both, and £20 for two of the school stationary packs.

Uniform arrived todayHmm I've already bought blazers and ties direct from school so will return those, and the skirts are going back too. Too tire dot tot up the total right now though.

Tomorrow I need bread and DD2 needs fabric, did I say that already? Sorry if I have. Will try to catch up soon.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2015 07:37

Dh is going to try and fit the dishwasher today!! I will keep you all updated Grin

I bought the dc some wellies yesterday was £22 for both pairs. I got dd croc ones for £12 and ds cheap ones for nursery for £10. I'm selling their old ones, they're jojo so should sell.

Food shopping coming this morning can't remember how much £65 I think.

Dh's boss wants to take us to the pub for chips tonight so will prob do main meal at lunch time.

574ejones · 05/09/2015 07:42

Hope you get your dishwasher in today spotty.

£8 on random stuff plus lunch in Boots on Thurs. Yesterday was a NSD.

Today am off to a food festival in my town.

ipsos · 05/09/2015 07:43

Woohoo! Good luck with the dishwasher spotty. And good luck to dh. Smile

I'm having a tricky diplomatic weekend with visiting family. Wish me luck! I think I'll have a trip to tesco for some retail therapy without buying non-necessary stuff. Smile

babsmam · 05/09/2015 08:00

Hope you got some sleep need.
Good luck ipsos.
Hope the dishwasher goes well spotty.

Dd is obsessed with bake off so planning a bake today

Unescorted · 05/09/2015 08:06

Happy Birthday Pointless Grin

spotty good luck

I am trying to get enough guts together to say on the refugee threads that I am an economic migrant. I bought a plane ticket and flew over. There was no people trafficker. These people are fleeing because they have no choice other than stay and die. It is a stark choice for people to make. The difference is that I am white, educated, have money.... in no real need to be here other than I like it. If you saw me on a street you would think British... but apparently it is different for me. Hmm only real difference is that I can go "home" without fear of persecution, death, rape or poverty. Rant over......

AuditAngel · 05/09/2015 08:09

Need more diesel, done 450 miles since Monday! A lot of that is for work. Can reclaim all fuel costs.

Need to pay for drinks at Sister's wedding today, perhaps a cab home, but the venue is within walking distance.

Collieputthekettleon · 05/09/2015 08:12

NSD today. I promise!

Good luck with the dishwasher spotty

Frugal win: DH managed to commute all week without topping up the car with fuel. So that's a big saving! Hopefully it'll be a regular occurrence. It's saving us around £50! Smile

northender · 05/09/2015 08:33

fish I would contact your bank about the £1 transaction, just in case it is fraudsters testing out your account. I'm v cautious as I've been done like that a couple of times.
It's bil's 40th tomorrow, they have rented a house with family in the Lakes for a week. We were invited but could only do a couple of days due to dc going back to school. Dh & dd went up yesterday, ds & I will follow on today (coming back tomorrow evening). No idea what it will cost but will just have to grit teeth & stump up the cash. It's difficult as money obviously isn't tight for them and I don't think they realise how tight a rein we are trying to keep on our finances.

Collieputthekettleon · 05/09/2015 08:56

unescorted Flowers its an awful situation. So you are definitely welcome to rant.

pointless happy birthday Smile

Just put Peppa Pig on for DS to see if he'd like it. I assumed he wouldn't. But he's just sat on the floor beaming at the TV!

blueteapot · 05/09/2015 09:05

Morning all! Still have to read back through all but the last page, this thread moves fast! A busy week, OH was off so we were getting bits finished around the house. The new sofas finally arrived yesterday and are v comfy so we are pleased, despite the delay. Kids rooms both finished. Shampooed out our carpet last night and its now nice and fresh again, no need to replace for a while yet (thankfully as we are out of £ for renovating and I have no plans to do any again for a good while!)

Money quite tight now for sept / oct as I am on mat allowance only. Looking forward to a wage again to build back up some savings. Now the house is sorted we will have to concentrate big time as in 14 months I will be self employed and DH is looking to retrain (big opportunity and lifelong dream for him but major paycut!). Id really like to feel more secure by then.

I may do a bit of ebay / facebook selling once I hunt out a few things to go.

Spotty we got a dishwasher in Nov from my parents for my 30th birthday (the gift of no dishes!) and I must say its wonderful. Enjoy!

Today I need to evaluate the fridge and freezer and do a bit of planning. I wonder could I stretch the contents until DHs payday (in three weeks!) with minimal additions or is that a bit hopeful of me... Grin

Pointlessfan · 05/09/2015 09:24

Thanks for birthday messages. It's been lovely so far. DH made French toast and gave me a voucher for a massage at a lovely local spa. I also had a John Lewis voucher from my dad and a cheque from my uncle so I'm going to buy some new make up, I've been using the same eye shadow since my wedding 5 years ago!
Our carpet needs shampooing? How do you do it blue?

Binglet · 05/09/2015 09:28

Morning to all! Just caught up with the thread. Had NSDs most of the week apart from Tuesday - car went in for service and needed two new tyres. So that's £100 on the CC as I hadn't budgeted for it. I am determined to get a "car pot" going next year for any car related expenses. Come January we should be better off so hopefully will be able to start. Does anyone else do this?! How much do you save a month?!

We are off to Birmingham City centre today to do "The Big Hoot". Or at least some of it. Hoping to take a picnic and persuade DP not to splurge on DD and DSD.

Went to a local animal sanctuary yesterday. £9 spent on entry and £5 on chips and cake. But it was budgeted for out of my £20/week spends.

Checked my bank, it's looking poor. But I still have my £20 for next weekend, have got some money coming from other hens to pay for some hen weekend stuff. All bills are covered, I have full to the brim cupboards and freezer and we have saved £250 for our holiday (Devon on 19th) so we only have to last food wise until then. Will pop to aldi tomorrow for top up of milk and fruit as the girls will have wiped us out by morning.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend so far!

Binglet · 05/09/2015 09:29

pointless I've just seen this your birthday! Have a fabulous day Flowers

Whatabout · 05/09/2015 09:31

Spotty - dishwasher day! So exciting!!

I got my free Amazon £10 and spent it already, more Christmas presents so that's good. Annoyingly I ordered one £40 instead of four £10 ones so I am putting the £40 on my account and have ordered four singles.

Went out for Friday lunch with husband yesterday, spent £25, but with baby coming on Tuesday it'll be our last one for some time.

Today we all bed haircuts, husband has taken DS to get theirs done and I've got mine this afternoon. £75 for all of us,none of us do it very often, but it feels expensive! I might need to look for a mobile hairdresser that can do as all.

I sold my baby Bjorn on eBay, it went for £25, which I'm happy about. It pays for the caboo I've bought to replace it with, which will be sold once I'm finished with it.

Handbags didn't sell even though I started it at 99p, it's auto relisted but if it doesn't go this week I'll try Facebook.

Hope the toe is ok, I'm very squeamish with nails and it made my days in X-ray a challenge when people had crushed them!

Whatabout · 05/09/2015 09:36

Happy birthday pointless!

Re: savings for car - yes! Me! I have a company car so that's covered, but I put away £70 a month for our car. This covers tax, insurance, tyres and servicing. It's such a relief to have it when things go wrong. I do the same for "house" "holidays" "presents" and "children". We use share save through DH's work for long term savings, so all our savings is in these pots.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/09/2015 09:47

Happy birthday pointless!

Dh had taken ds to get his hair cut after a bit of an argument because he wants to sort the dw. He usually works Saturday's though so I'm not sure when else he was planning on doing it Hmm

Pointlessfan · 05/09/2015 09:52

Thanks. Enjoy the Big Hoot binglet I live in Birmingham and we've really enjoyed the owls this summer. They are fabulous. The floral displays that won at Chelsea are worth a look too, they are in the same places as lots of the owls - Victoria Square and by the cathedral.

TheOnlyPink · 05/09/2015 09:57

north we have something similar in our family, and I think when they don't ever have to think about money, they genuinely don't realise it's an issue for someone else. It's very awkward!

fish have you done anything with paypal? They take small amounts like that so you can input the code to link to your account? Probably a long shot, but thought I would mention it!

spotty good luck with your dishwasher!

Heading out with my mum and aunt later, I'm hoping they aren't having lunch, as I really don't want to spend that much. I'm hoping it's just for coffee! My aunt has SEN, so plans don't really fit, as it depends on her on the day. Dh is taking the kids swimming, have a membership so it's already paid for. Think he will buy them an ice cream after, so not huge.

babsmam · 05/09/2015 10:01

Sorry pointless missed its your birthday. Happy birthday
