Covid vaccine, to ask if this makes you worried?

www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-02-19/largest-covid-vaccine-study-yet-finds-links-to-health-conditions?leadSource=uverify%20wall

I'm double vaccinated, had 2 Pfizer but reading articles such as the above and seeing people in the news dying of sudden heart attacks and blood clots makes me really worried.

If I could go back in time, I'm not sure I would get vaxed without waiting for further research.

Anybody else?

Well it’s behind a paywall so I guess I will never know and will carry on as I have!

TheRealProfessorYaffle · 22/02/2024 06:24

I was in the first few hundred people to volunteer test it before it was rolled out. I had terrible fears about it because there was far less testing than it had had by the time you got it, but someone had to be guinea pigs for the greater good. If I had had adverse side effects, I'd have still volunteered because we were in an awful place pre vaccine.

Korkie · 22/02/2024 06:25

The only resentment I have of having the vaccines is that I was blackmailed into having them by being told that if I didn't have them, then I wouldn't be allowed to continue working.
Also being lied to that if we had the vaccine, we would be able to travel, then after being jabbed, told that we wouldn't be able to.
My husband has always been a fit and healthy man with absolutely no health issues whatsoever, but has developed heart problems since having all three vaccinations.
Strange that!

Agedcrone · 22/02/2024 06:28

You do realise that COVID can also cause heart problems and other long term issues? There was never a 'risk free' option. There never is with vaccines. I know someone who didn't have the vaccines, caught COVID and now has AF which they think may be as a result of COVID.

Sirzy · 22/02/2024 06:32

I had an adverse reaction to the tetanus vaccine. It doesn’t make me question it’s effectiveness or worth, infact ds will be having his this week.

if you read the label of a box of paracetamol you will find some pretty scary possible side effects!

Kendodd · 22/02/2024 06:36

Haven't read the article but how are they separating out increased risks of heart attack/blood clots from having the vaccine from increased risk from heart attack/blood clots from having had covid?

Korkie · 22/02/2024 06:38

@Agedcrone If that's aimed at me then you're wasting your time.
I'm did forty years in frontline healthcare before getting out of the shit show a couple of years ago.
Neither of us have ever had bloody COVID either.
Enjoy your day.

AlwaysFreezing · 22/02/2024 06:42

It's done now, you've had the vaccines. So worrying about rare and uncommon side effects won't achieve anything.

I'm willing to bet that walking down a road is more likely to cause long term health effects, from the vehicle pollution and general air pollution. Or eating food with additives in it, or burnt food, or food with nitrites in it, or any number of mundane, run of the mill things we do every day that increase risks to health

Studies like this will be a feature of our news landscape for years to come. Learning to deal with your feelings about them will stand you in good stead. Look forwards, don't seek out this kind of story, try and move on.

Kendodd · 22/02/2024 06:44

I know one person (well four people, one family) who was very vocal at the time about not having the vaccine, caught covid and died. His family still deny it was covid that killed him, even though they all got covid at the same time and he was being treated in hospital for covid (with his son) when he died (of covid). The three of them left are still anti covid vaccination and think it's too dangerous.

Snusnusnu · 22/02/2024 06:44

I did have a bad reaction and was in hospital with heart inflammation within a week of an MRNA vaccination. There were others in hospital with similar. I since met other females and unless their cases were clear they said they struggled to get tested.

More information should have been released about the side effects, so that we could have given informed consent. It was not only a threat to males.

The reaction I had started within a week (and then went on). So I personally wouldn’t be worried about new issues two years on.

Ern no, I was responding to the op. If I was replying to you I'd have quoted you or @ you. I hadn't even read your post. Bit baffled really, my post was directly after yours I know but it doesn't even relate to what you posted.

You enjoy your day too I guess.

Do you know you've never had covid? Some people apparently are completely symptoms free. My kids teenage don't appear to have had it but I do wonder if they have.

BeethovenNinth · 22/02/2024 06:46

I would like to see more studies to be honest. Most people I know who reacted adversely haven’t reported it. My neighbour has had ongoing heart rate issues since the second booster and the GP told him it was gout!

i suffered CFS in my youth so didn’t take any vaccines for various reasons. I do think it’s odd I have had Covid only once and it was mild and my boosted friends are on multiple infections. I would like more studies done on whether vaccinated people mount a less strong response to newer variants.

Korkie · 22/02/2024 06:47

@Snusnusnu we only found out a couple of weeks ago, but we don't know how long it's been going on for.
Your reaction sounds dreadful, I hope you're feeling better.

Korkie · 22/02/2024 06:50

@Kendodd we had to test twice weekly at work, mine always came back negative.
I've not had so much as a sniffle in years.
He's never had it because he had to test once per week at his work, which always came back negative.

Snusnusnu · 22/02/2024 06:51

Thank you @Korkie Unfortunately it did permanent damage, causing a lot of scarring. This has led to arrhythmia, so is always a worry.

I hope your husband is recovering well.

Having cfs was exactly why I had the vaccine. I had covid once pre vaccine and although I wasn’t too ill with it it knocked me for six cfs wise

Korkie · 22/02/2024 06:53

@Snusnusnu Thank you. All the best to you too.

I had 4 - I wont be having any more

There is a vaccine compensation scheme in place- For me personally, that tells me everything i need to know !

There's vaccine compensation for every vaccine available!

DGPP · 22/02/2024 07:01

Not worried because the alternative was risking my chances with Covid. Which killed millions of people. Every time I think about about it all I think about Derek Draper and Kate Garraway and what Covid did to him

KnowledgeableMomma · 22/02/2024 02:52

Last I read (sometime in 2023), well over 6 million people have died from Covid. Unless 6 million people have died from heart attacks /clots due to the vaccine (newsflash.....they haven't), then no, I do not regret getting the vaccine and boosters.

6 million people with an average age of 82 died with covid - not of covid - very big difference.

Hotpinkangel19 · 22/02/2024 07:04

My husband developed heart issues shortly after his first vaccine and was rushed to A&E.
I've been vaccinated twice but I won't accept any more.
I never vaccinated my children with it, and don't regret that at all.

IVFlife · 22/02/2024 07:05

I had an extreemly painful and unexpected neurological injury from my 4th vax. I don't regret it. It was the right thing for me at the time given the health conditions I had at the time. You can only do the best you have with the knowledge you have.

My GPs were fab and I got referred to neurology. The pain has completely gone now and the foot drop has resolved. I still have odd sensations at times and need to keep it stretched to help with the spasticity.

All properly yellow card reported and the MHRA came back and asked for further information.

There are lots of meds that cause side effects we wouldn't usually all be given them at same time but would be slower and would have time to figure out what's best for which person based on certain factors

KrisAkabusi · 22/02/2024 07:17

No. A small increase in very rare conditions. Vs a disease that was killing hundreds of thousands of people.
