My brother was really poorly for a few days then got over it really quickly. Also unvaccinated. Don't worry too much. X

WouldYouIfYouCould · 11/04/2022 21:56

I’ve had it twice. Unvaxxed. First time was pretty bad but had it a couple of weeks ago again and it was mainly just a sore throat. Honestly, my vaxxed friends have suffered much worse with it.

looneylou201 · 11/04/2022 21:59

Thank you both that eases my mind. This is his first time having it so hopefully it won't be too bad for him. I had it December 2020 very mild but his already seems worse!

OP posts:
MissMaple82 · 11/04/2022 22:01

I'm unvaxed, had it twice, both times quite poorly but nothing more than a few days in bed. Don't panic

Kite22 · 11/04/2022 22:46

Why isn't he vaccinated ?

IEatChocolateForBreakfast · 11/04/2022 22:49

Your husband will be fine! My DH and I are both unvaccinated. We've both had it twice since Feb. Extremely mild. Honestly barely even knew we had it. Most vaccinated people have had it much worse.

WigglesWaggles · 11/04/2022 22:50

I hope your husband feels better soon! Daffodil
If you don't have anything useful or compassionate to add to the thread why comment.
I don't get why people feel they have a right to know why someone isn't vaccinated. Since when are the medical notes of another person anyone else's business!

user1471543683 · 11/04/2022 22:50

4 of us in the house here, none are vaccinated and we only recently had it. Kids had very few symptoms, adults had a lot of the new symptoms (nausea, aches, congestion etc) but mild.

Wnkingawalrus · 11/04/2022 22:56

Since when are the medical notes of another person anyone else's business!

Maybe since the OP decided to share it with the internet?

Kite22 · 11/04/2022 23:03

@WigglesWaggles

Because it changes the response.
If the dh has been unable to be vaccinated for some medical reason, that lends itself to a different response from that the OP might get if he has chosen not to.
No-one is asking for medical notes, OP can say "he wasn't able to due to a medical condition" or OP can say he chose not to.

Generally, walking down the street, or working alongside someone we don't have the right to know, but the OP has started a thread which literally says "Husband positive. Not vaccinated!!" so it is pretty pertinent, and information was put, by the OP in the thread title.

userxx · 11/04/2022 23:04

@Kite22

Why isn't he vaccinated ?

Why not ?

CrocodilesCry · 11/04/2022 23:25

The risk of him being seriously ill is higher if he's unvaccinated whatever the reason for him not being jabbed.

Not being vaccinated doesn't mean he'll definitely be more ill than a vaccinated person - just that the chance he will be is higher.

Either way OP is worried. Hope he's on the mend soon.

nojudgementhere · 11/04/2022 23:31

Try not to worry too much OP. My whole family had it recently (all unvaxxed) and had nothing worse than headaches and a bit of a high temperature for a couple of days. Good luck - I hope he's feeling better soon Xx

Campervangirl · 11/04/2022 23:32

I'm double jabbed and had the booster, recently had covid and was pretty ill and its taking a while to get over the symptoms.
Everyone is different, different symptoms, different recovery times.
Treat him like it's a cold, paracetamol, plenty of drinks, a little food, soup etc and give him time to get over it.
If he takes a turn for the worse get medical treatment but I'm sure it won't come to that

SnowRoses · 11/04/2022 23:35

Have you got a oxygen sats monitor?
If not get one and check a couple of times a day

Don't panic. I had Cv19 before there were vaccines. Uncomfortable and like flu but I was OK. I'm 57 and v overweight by the way.

LegArmpits · 11/04/2022 23:58

I'm on day 6ish now. I've had worse colds. Only giveaway was a cough with no other symptoms other than tired and achy, but was the end of term so thought it was that.
Apart from a head cold I feel much better today.
From a slightly chubby 40ish person, no vaccines.
Diaclaimer: might still die, definitely will one day, probably not from this. 🙈

Kite22 · 12/04/2022 00:01

@adriftabroad

Surely you realise by now that vaxxed or not makes no difference? (If he is relatively young and healthy and not overweight)

He'll feel low for a few days.

Clearly that isn't true.

Anecdotally, there will be people who are lucky enough to 'only' feel unwell for a few days, but actual statistics show that the risk of being infected (and being seriously ill or dying) is higher if you're unvaccinated.

BruceAndNosh · 12/04/2022 00:14

Most vaccinated people have had it much worse

They really haven't. Confused

Poppetlove · 12/04/2022 00:20

Whos business is it if you are vaccinated or not. Some people are so rude.

If he takes a turn for the worse get on and ask for some of the medication from the GP.

Vitamins like quercitin, zinc, C and D have also been used as treatment options…liposomal is best if you are buying it..

Trixiefirecracker · 12/04/2022 00:26

All vaccinated here except for son as he is under 11. He’s had it three times now, each time worse than the last. Still coughing and poorly three weeks after testing negative. None of us have caught it despite no isolation and him frequently coughing all over me. To say vaccinated people have it ‘much worse’ as one poster said is just utter bollocks.

Dancer47 · 12/04/2022 00:39

My DH is unvaccinated and just had Covid - it lasted 4 days: started very suddenly with headache, body aches, tiredness with nausea and
a bit of an upset stomach. No fever or breathing problems . Now 100% again. 38, thin and fit. If you are concerned you can give Vits & supplements widely discussed elsewhere, as follows: Vit D, Liposomal Vit C plus Quertecin, Zinc. Also L-Glutamine and L-Lycine can't do any harm.
