Who is planning to ditch masks as soon as we are legally allowed?

Is anyone else planning to ditch the masks asap? The only reason I wear one atm is because of the legal mandate and it will go as soon as that's dropped.

If you are staunchly pro-mask then this is probably not the thread for you! I know all the arguments on both side and they have been fully rehearsed on this board for the last 2 years. I am simply interested to gauge how many people also want to ditch masks asap, when the law allows.

It would be fab if we could have a thread on this topic that didn't include the words- selfish, it's no hardship, why wouldn't you?, we're in a pandemic ffs, I wear my mask to protect others etc.... that's lovely, and we already know!
@JuergenSchwarzwald how can they enforce it? Once up in the air and a mask comes off, they can hardly chuck you off at the next stop like a bus
Airline's allow you to not wear a mask when eating and drinking.... its amazing how long you can make a coffee and bag of sweets last ....

TheKeatingFive · 19/01/2022 17:11

We aren’t in a position to let everything go and just rely on vaccines.

I think we are in a position where trying to very minimally minimise spread just isn't worth it anymore. Much better to focus on reducing severity of disease.

I wonder how people will feel if the death rates rise, are they just going to be collateral damage

Who?
Againstmachine · 19/01/2022 17:18

Glad to stop wearing they hurt my ears make my glasses steam up, and make me feel sick when wearing, so yes it is a hardship it's horrible.

If people want to wear after fair enough just don't start saying people who don't are selfish when they have wore before they were lifted.

The people who say it's winter I wear them to keep my face warm are just odd though it's as if scarfs don't exist before.

@Wizzbangfizz

Looks like even better news to come from the press conference - especially over ending free testing
why is that good news?
toomuchlaundry · 19/01/2022 17:20

Nothing was mentioned in the press conference in respect of testing

frazzledali · 19/01/2022 17:20

@Lifeisnteasy I imagine they meant the people who die. But most people on here will just crow about 'with' not 'of' Covid and 'underlying conditions' and it'll all be ok, except to those of us who've had to suffer while people we know have died.

toomuchlaundry · 19/01/2022 17:21

They are still recommending face coverings in enclosed spaces with people you don't know.

Wizzbangfizz · 19/01/2022 17:33

Because they cost an absolute bomb to the taxpayer, people are taking the piss with them, they are disastrous for the environment - we don't perpetually test for other endemic diseases - I could go on?

toomuchlaundry · 19/01/2022 17:35

They seem to be taking away mandatory measures but expecting people to still carry on as if the measures are in place and wear masks etc

toomuchlaundry · 19/01/2022 17:38

I'm sure there is a lot of waste/cost in respect of vaccines, should we get rid of them too? I'm sure there is a lot more cost and environmental waste treating people in hospital, cheaper to test and reduce the number of people in hospital.

They did that last time to appease those that still want them knowing full well it will dwindle very quickly. It's a softener for those that don't want them to finish.
toomuchlaundry · 19/01/2022 17:40

@Stuffin I think it is more that they can blame us if we are not being cautious if the rates go up

NeverForgetYourDreams · 19/01/2022 17:52

Me me me. Can't wait!!!!

god no, please don't, I can see your shitty point.
tsmainsqueeze · 19/01/2022 18:02

@GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy

I won't be wearing them any more. Anyone else is welcome to do as they see fit but I've done exactly what's been asked if me for two years and now looking forward to living without this shit.
Well said , me too .

Postdatedpandemic · 19/01/2022 18:05

Hand washing also recommended but not mandatory though....so choice

7Worfs · 19/01/2022 18:07

Lots of advocates here for removing agency from the general population. There’s a name for this - fascism.

Musmerian · 19/01/2022 18:07

I’m not an arsehe so I will continue to wear them in public places where other people don’t have choices like shops and public transport. Our government is a joke.

Musmerian · 19/01/2022 18:08

Arsehole

Broads93 · 19/01/2022 18:10

I ditched mine 2 years ago. Personal choice is a wonderful thing.

Absolutely a lot of problem is as you see on threads on here, people will use multiple on here as they don't like the result. Also people use them like this as they are free at point, they don't think of the costs at all.

Also I will be glad to see back of the 'can you see a line' posts, as if you are unable to use them without consulting a forum you shouldn't be using them.
