…I remember earlier in the pandemic where delayed days were ones where numbers were enormous.

250,000? What do we think? I’ve got a real feeling of doom

It genuinely feels like some people are actually salivating over the data

I know!

Reading the first part of this thread you could almost see the smoke rising from where people were rubbing their thighs so furiously!!!

Youngatheart00 · 31/12/2021 13:06

I disagree - we can be interested (and concerned) without ‘salivating’, that is truly strange language.

It’s a discussion forum, we discuss what’s on our minds, especially when many of us are seeing less people IRL. I won’t let anyone tell me otherwise! If you don’t like it, just scroll on past!

Not enough NHS staff to cope it seems.. I think things will even out a bit after two or three weeks, if the populus don't keep breaking the rules because it was Christmas, and now New year parties and things.

AnnieSnap · 31/12/2021 18:19

The genuine number of cases will be mind boggling. Between the shortage of tests and those not bothering to test, the official figures will be a gross underestimation.

I think the same, I don't believe new rules will come in over the next few days, I know many are wondering about schools. I believe we will stay on plan B. I think if we do move into plan C or whatever is next it will probably be one of those ones where it is too late again, but for now they will hold

Honestly, stop tracking the stats and your blood pressure will go down.

LoveCherryTree · 31/12/2021 18:59

Don’t panic, the numbers may be high, but if it’s Omicron it’s mild. They manage to make the stats look exactly as they want, everyone who hasn’t had a booster is unvaxxed now so that’s a hell of a lot of people, they said 90% in hospital were unvaxed which was a lie as it is actually 45% or it was a day ago. We are no where near the pandemic level we were a year ago.

That's not true.

Here is the weekly ICNARC report www.icnarc.org/DataServices/Attachments/Download/c769c2dc-546a-ec11-913a-00505601089b

If you look at page 46 you can see that the proportion of unvaccinated people going into critical care is completely out of proportion with the up number of unvaccinated people remaining within the general population (big orange bit in top graph, little orange bit in bottom graph) showing that you are significantly more likely to end up in critical care is you have had no doses.

You'll also notice that the data is clearly split into no vaccines, 1 dose, 2 dose or more than 2 doses. So it is not considering all people who have not had the booster to be unvaccinated.

The coronavirus dashboard also categorises vaccinations data into 1st, 2nd...... and the hospitalisations data on the dashboard doesn't link to vax status at all

To the user that suggested BoJo may need to take his socks off to help him count - let’s just hope he keeps his trousers on...

Seriously 🙄 why are people still scare mongering over this shite, stay safe wash your hands wear a mask and go about your own business. This impending doom sensation is just bananas, if you get it, you get it. You literally deal with it as it comes be it you family or friends. This constant rehashing of worry and doom is so tiresome and ultimately unhelpful. If you worry more does it go away or effect you less? No, all you are doing is driving yourself and everyone else up the bloody wall. I'm so so so done with it all, the conspiratorial worry is a whole pandemic in itself. Yes lots and lots of people are being effected, unless it's you just carry on being sensible and stop bursting everyone else's head with it, Jesus wept

If only there was a way to know what a thread titled Daily figures delayed until 19:30… in the Coronavirus topic was going to be about a Coronavirus figures, huh?

patpat1 · 01/01/2022 15:13

With regards to the comments about the steps being taken or not taken by our PM and government, it seems to me that they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t! The hospitality and entertainment area have been so badly affected by lockdowns that many businesses will not recover. The best we can do is take responsibility for ourselves, we know what we should be doing. There will always be people who spoil things for the rest of us!
