Govt plans re unvaccinated feels like a change is afoot

Anyone noticed the govt and news sources seem to be covering more and more stories regarding the unvaccinated (by choice)
I feel they might be ramping up support for restrictions for unvaccinated people.
It's feel very much like propaganda and warm up the masses.
Anyone agree or noticed this in the last 3/4 days?

No.

CovidCorvid · 21/12/2021 11:52

Wouldn’t surprise me.

Potatodrivers · 21/12/2021 11:53

No. But I have noticed the focus on here shift more towards it

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 21/12/2021 12:02

Not sure the country has the resources to police it to be honest

LostThePot · 21/12/2021 12:05

They’re talking about this on LBC now.

LostThePot · 21/12/2021 12:07

Actually they’re back to talking about brexit now. Not sure which is worse Grin

Ifailed · 21/12/2021 12:08

There will be change to the law, I very much doubt compulsory medical procedures will get through parliament.
That's not say the hectoring of the unvaccinated won't go up a notch, helped by their friends in the media.

Ifailed · 21/12/2021 12:08

There will be no change to the law

whenwillthemadnessend · 21/12/2021 12:09

Debate in 5 love right now about it

Yep I’ve heard about lockdown for the unvaccinated and also NHS charging for their care should they become unwell.

I would definitely support

Angel2702 · 21/12/2021 12:13

Far better than locking everyone down if the cases causing hospitals beds are genuinely those not fully vaccinated it makes sense to let them take responsibility for their choice. Very different if there is no difference in those fully vaccinated and not in hospital though.

minipie · 21/12/2021 12:13

Well they passed the covid passports for nightclubs which was clearly the thin end of the wedge. And EU countries are bringing in more and more restrictions for the unvaccinated. So it will hardly be a surprise if they bring in more.

minipie · 21/12/2021 12:14

And yes, if we reach a point where it’s a choice between lockdown and vaccine passports, I’m all for vaccine passports.

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 21/12/2021 12:16

So who is going to stand in the door of every Tesco/Asda/boots denying access to the unvaccinated?

They are already arrogant enough to refuse to be vaccinated, how are they going to react to someone at the door saying they can't come in?

Flowerlane · 21/12/2021 12:18

Haven’t noticed anything, only on mumsnet it seems.

minipie · 21/12/2021 12:18

I doubt they would do it for supermarkets tbh

Much more likely for things that are pre booked and you will need to upload your vaccine certificate at the time of booking.

People will be allowed to go to supermarkets, pharmacies, GP surgeries and anywhere else deemed essential.

They won't be able to go to nightclubs, theatres, restaurants and anywhere else deemed leisure.

There will be an issue with hotels, B&Bs and holiday accommodation as if it is leisure purposes then people won't be allowed, but if people are being rehomed in it then it has to be allowed.

They do it in retail in other European countries
Cornettoninja · 21/12/2021 12:21

If there’s an adult group that aren’t going to follow restrictions I suspect it will be most of the unvaccinated.

From where I’m sitting, the hesitant who remain unconvinced, which is fair enough, must see the logic that they’re still the ones most at risk of hospitalisation? From that perspective measures like passes in crowded venues is protective of them. They’re the ones whose odds of being very ill or needing hospital are much higher than the vaccinated; the non-CV vaccinated are the ones who can bear the load of recovering from an infection and contributing to further immunity in the population.

The government’s focus is keeping health care provision in tact, they care very little who dies or not so long as it doesn’t break society. If you’re unvaccinated you’re higher risk of needing a limited resource. The government aren’t rewarding the vaccinated, they’re using them as a buffer.

Thatusernamewastaken · 21/12/2021 12:21

It's not propaganda to make people aware of the extra strain unvaccinated people will put on healthcare, the extra risk they present to others/themselves and the fact they will cause this thing to go on longer than it needs to.

the80sweregreat · 21/12/2021 12:22

I'm sure that big businesses such as Tesco etc will be ' exempt' from asking for these passports as they know that to check every single person going into their stores would be unworkable and they wouldn't want the expense of having to hire security to man it all either.

Honeyhorse · 21/12/2021 12:23

Where does that leave me? With a genuine needle phobia? I haven’t had any yet but am in the process of getting counselling to overcome this, which may be delayed due to more restrictions.

I feel really sad that this is something that may be considered Sad

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 21/12/2021 12:24

I'm in retail management and I'm hearing rumblings from HQ as well as hearing all measures going back. Screens, arrows, queuing all to possibly return

Been told to 'be prepared'

The unvaccinated and maskless can do what they like in retail but problem is the staff are being infected and there's no backup. Isolating and waiting for pcr means supply chains are also being interrupted...again. Feels never ending and I suspect they may need to bring in these measures for retail to keep us open

Flowerlane · 21/12/2021 12:24

It would be better to make everyone take lft to attend events etc vaccinated or not.
