I'm DONE with Covid, omicron and want to get on with my life - is anyone else with me?

Honestly at this point I'm done with it, I'm surprised people are complying so much with mask wearing and everything else - I thought the vaccine was freedom. Turns out I was wrong.

I've had enough - I'm not wearing my mask indoors and hope if there's a lockdown every business keeps its doors open and boycotts the decision.

I'm really surprised people are being so compliant, even if they have natural immunity and have been jagged (I have now had Covid and both jabs)

I can't be selfless anymore and keep getting boosters to protect others and stopping life, constant anxiety, life I feel should be going on now. Enough sacrifices have been made.

Aware I'll get flamed, but at the end of my tether with all of this now.

There are plenty of diseases that kill people, we have to accept the death rate now enough is enough.

If you've been vaccinated then what else do you intend to do? If you haven't then more fool you.

I don't really understand the big deal about wearing masks. It's just not that big a deal. If it helps even the smallest but then I'm happy to do my bit - I do t Co wider that as being selfless, just basic consideration.

Greenmarmalade · 16/12/2021 22:43

I am frustrated with the lack of cancer care/urgency of treatment, and GPs not seeing patients in person. It very nearly cost a friend his life.

SylvesterTheCat · 16/12/2021 22:44

I agree with you OP.

Are we going to be wearing masks and getting regular booster jabs in years to come??

I have had my two vaccines and that's what we agreed. Why did we all have these vaccines if we're in the same bloody situation as before?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 16/12/2021 22:44

No one could have put it better @Maverickess . Well done and thank you.

riveted1 · 16/12/2021 22:45

@worriedatthemoment I am very sorry about your partner and hope you are able to spend as much time together as possible Flowers

DismantledKing · 16/12/2021 22:45

@Maverickess

I'm done with it too, it's in (or rather on) my face every day I'm at work. I'm done with getting dressed up like an extra from a nuclear war film to deliver personal care, I'm done with my face itching and a sore throat from wearing a mask for between 8 and 14 hours a day in a warm environment while doing a physical job. I'm sick of dry and cracked hands from the endless handwashing and sanitising. I'm sick of being moaned at by people who don't want to wear a mask, don't want to wear PPE to see their relatives and think somehow, shouting at me will change that. I'm sick of being told to mind my own business when I ask that someone doesn't hug or kiss their loved one because it's safer for them, the other residents and me and the rest of the staff, because apparently me catching covid, or caring for a unit full of covid positive residents, taking it home to my family and also informing loved ones that their family is sick/dying/dead over the phone is none of my business and an acceptable price to pay for a hug and a kiss. I don't really want to be holding the hands of those dying from covid either, done with that. I'm sick of 3 X covid tests a week (now four). I'm sick of doing all that for minimum wage.

But what I'm really sick of is people expecting the likes of me to carry on, do as we're told, give and give while others are quite willing to increase the risks intentionally because they don't like it, accuse people like me of 'loving it ' or being too scared to live, or sheep because we don't want the situation to get worse, because we're only just surviving.

It doesn't matter how done we are with covid, clearly it's not done with us yet.

Well said, and thank you.

@coatilove

Wales have closed nightclubs. what will happen to club owners now? They'll lose their livelihoods now

Wonder when lockdown is coming.

Are you going to acknowledge @Maverickess at all?

Because if we hadn't had them we'd be in an even worse position now...
WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/12/2021 22:46
@Wrongkindofovercoat the nhs make these decisions every day. There are many treatments available that the nhs refuse to refund because they're not funded. Should the NHS give everyone treatment for everything? Because currently they don't and never have.
The NHS does indeed make unpalatable decisions forced upon it.

However, you appear to be saying that Covid patients who need to be moved into ICU to have a chance to live should be left to die to allow other patients' cancer surgery to happen. Is this what you are proposing?

coatilove · 16/12/2021 22:46

1 million people over 65 are still waiting for a booster. The most vulnerable to omicron, yet they're hot being prioritised.

Total shit show - this is yet another reason why I'm done. As it appears our efforts are to not avail

OP posts:
AgrippinaT · 16/12/2021 22:48

Yep. Agree tbf. Done.

worriedatthemoment · 16/12/2021 22:48

@riveted1 it my best friend sorry should of made that clearer but thank you, its so hard for everyone right now as i think we all had such hope with the vaccines . I have haf my jabs and booster and always wear a mask so I will follow most rules even so , its just some people are getting fed up i think as it doesn't seem to be getting better its like one step forward and two steps back.
I think people are fed up and might not express it right , my mum will say thats it im not wearing a mask or following rules etc but she always does, just her way of expressing desperation at it all

Wrongkindofovercoat · 16/12/2021 22:49

@Wrongkindofovercoat the nhs make these decisions every day. There are many treatments available that the nhs refuse to refund because they're not funded. Should the NHS give everyone treatment for everything? Because currently they don't and never have

So you think that people should be refused basic treatment for covid symptoms, so oxygen, steroids, anti-virals etc because you don't like the fact that lots of people need treatment for the same thing at the same time ?

NMC2022 · 16/12/2021 22:49

I mean technically the CEV and the small immunosuppressed group that need 4 vaccines are the most vulnerable (people seem to forget they're not elderly)

I got my 3rd vaccine in October and my 4th will be end of January
The boosters are available, a local centre to me is 24hrs a day, there are walk ins popping up everywhere. Some people just don't want them and it's the whole lead a horse to water thing

worriedatthemoment · 16/12/2021 22:49

@coatilove yes but the 1 million we don't know why , it cod be they have had covid and need to wait 4 weeks , some might not want it etc

So something comes along that challenges the OP's life, that she has no control over, and she has a paddy. Life does not come with a fucking "everything will go the way you want it" guarantee. We are - including you, OP - just clever animals. Nature doesn't give a shiny shit about individuals but about species. Hth.

Tealightsandd · 16/12/2021 22:52

Are we going to be wearing masks and getting regular booster jabs in years to come??

If it gets normal life back, why not?

Many countries have long had a more civic minded attitude. People routinely wear masks when sick out of decency and courtesy to others around them including the vulnerable.

If there's a need for annual boosters (and we don't know yet), so what? We have annual flu jabs - and get on with life.

Life is full of risks. And societies generally get on with life - but take mitigations. Eg. Seat belts, smoking ban indoors (despite smoking, unlike Covid, being a net gain to the national economy), drink drive laws.

Maverickess · 16/12/2021 22:53

It would only probably be to tell me I'm in the wrong job @Sparklingbrook.

I mean, I get the frustration, I'm past being angry at the government about how they've handled this, about how we're all being expected to save an NHS and social care service that's been underfunded and mismanaged off a cliff and getting worse with no actual real action to tackle the problems.
But not complying with what needs to happen to keep us on the brink (hopefully) and not over it isn't going to improve the situation.

Lucillesbigsister · 16/12/2021 22:53

I think most people feel the same and are “done with it” but I also think most decent people will try their very best to reduce the spread by following the sensible guidelines.

Wearing a mask is no big deal for the vast majority of the population. It’s up to you if you want to make it a big deal. I’m in Scotland and am very used to it. Doesn’t spoil my day.

We will comply with the 3 household rule / guidance - it’s not too hard.

We can still enjoy a lot of aspects of life within the guidelines. For now anyway.

XmasSadface · 16/12/2021 22:54

@Maverickess
Nobody here has said they aren't complying, they are having a bitch, the way you just did

Postdatedpandemic · 16/12/2021 22:56

We give our children 5 vaccines against polio, polio isn't even active in this country. But that is what is necessary is eradicate a disease.

We are not in the same situation as before.
