I'm DONE with Covid, omicron and want to get on with my life - is anyone else with me?

Honestly at this point I'm done with it, I'm surprised people are complying so much with mask wearing and everything else - I thought the vaccine was freedom. Turns out I was wrong.

I've had enough - I'm not wearing my mask indoors and hope if there's a lockdown every business keeps its doors open and boycotts the decision.

I'm really surprised people are being so compliant, even if they have natural immunity and have been jagged (I have now had Covid and both jabs)

I can't be selfless anymore and keep getting boosters to protect others and stopping life, constant anxiety, life I feel should be going on now. Enough sacrifices have been made.

Aware I'll get flamed, but at the end of my tether with all of this now.

There are plenty of diseases that kill people, we have to accept the death rate now enough is enough.

If you've been vaccinated then what else do you intend to do? If you haven't then more fool you.

If you are done and don’t care about catching it then please volunteer at covid vaccine sites. I am so fed up of people thinking like this. You are selfish. I work in the NHS, I have had 1 Christmas with my family in my 13 year career. Last week Boris announced we had to give the country boosters, my colleagues have given over 4000 boosters in 4 days whilst also having our patient load. I was finally going to get to see my family this year but I now have covid. I love my job and my patients. We all life to go back to how it was but for too long we have picked up the consequences of people thinking they know better. Let’s hope you are one of the lucky ones who doesn’t become seriously unwell so you can carry on bleating how you are so much better qualified and educated than the rest of us.

@DSGR

I’m not worried that I can’t control the behaviour of selfish people in the slightest. But I am deeply baffled by their willingness to risk their lives. And I don’t actually think the unvaccinated should be able to access NHS Covid care.
What wouldn't be unreasonable is if the currently extremely limited supply of anti virals and monoclonal antibodies were prioritised for those who have been vaccinated (plus the tiny number of genuine medical exemptions).

If and when we have more supply, things will be different - but right now we have nowhere near enough for all the vulnerable. And I think the vaccinated should come first for these treatments. It's only fair.

Yes, long term the health service requires more investment, or essentially not actually solely more investment but restructure. However, that is long term, it takes many years to get nurses up to the level required where we have significant gaps. I'd say its also the conditions and treatment of staff, more money into the system won't 'fix it'. But you haven't explained what you would actually do now. In the current situation presented by omicron? Just debate lockdowns and short/long term costs and watch the health service get overwhelmed in short order? Are you certain we lurch from solution to solution? I've observed scientists working very hard to research and model the best they can with the info they have, are they expected to be able to predict every mutation etc in advance and have all the solutions?

@dottyHarmer exactly!

AdoptDontShop · 20/12/2021 18:40

Many are getting on with their lives and only people with severe health anxiety are listening to Boris and his ridiculous diktats.

AdoptDontShop · 20/12/2021 18:44

@Wineandshine Please don’t call those who disagree with your worldview “selfish”. It’s not helping the debate.

Unless your job means you have to 'listen to Boris' or lose it, or you or a loved one are in a care home or hospital as a patient/resident.

Have a read of all the threads about no ambulances going to people with heart attacks, that’s due to staff shortages and overwhelmed with patients, due to people thinking fuck it, I’m over covid and not testing and going out and infecting others and not wearing a mask.

But horrible stuff like that has been going on for years, because the NHS hasn't been fit for purpose from way before the pandemic.
ImJustAsking · 20/12/2021 22:59

It has, and the government, whichever one is in, has squeezed it dry and now there is just no reserve and I don’t want to need an ambulance in the next few weeks.

No that's because of a shot government that hasn't properly funded our healthcare system.

As we could say the same about obese people, smokers, and everyone else that needs self inflicted treatment

sleepwouldbenice · 21/12/2021 00:42

Not again

Yes the health service is underfunded

But staff shortages, a backlog, vaccine prog and covid impact are all part of the problem

And it's simply a fact that this problem would be lessened if more were vaccinated

I believe in the right to choose, but stop twisting the facts

Confused All over the WORLD it's only 'people with severe health anxiety' who are bothering with any silly old restrictions?

Does that not seem a bit... unlikely to you?
