I'm DONE with Covid, omicron and want to get on with my life - is anyone else with me?

Honestly at this point I'm done with it, I'm surprised people are complying so much with mask wearing and everything else - I thought the vaccine was freedom. Turns out I was wrong.

I've had enough - I'm not wearing my mask indoors and hope if there's a lockdown every business keeps its doors open and boycotts the decision.

I'm really surprised people are being so compliant, even if they have natural immunity and have been jagged (I have now had Covid and both jabs)

I can't be selfless anymore and keep getting boosters to protect others and stopping life, constant anxiety, life I feel should be going on now. Enough sacrifices have been made.

Aware I'll get flamed, but at the end of my tether with all of this now.

There are plenty of diseases that kill people, we have to accept the death rate now enough is enough.

If you've been vaccinated then what else do you intend to do? If you haven't then more fool you.

Out of interest, what are your working conditions like wrt Covid?

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 16/12/2021 20:49

plenty of people are getting on with life....mask refusers everywhere. people aren't really on board this time round

coatilove · 16/12/2021 20:50

@BitterTits do you mean at my place of work?

We are respectful of the rules at work. We don't wear masks. I'm happy to spoil a distance and do some basic measures but the tougher restrictions I'm done with.

What do you think would happen if everyone followed your lead?

coatilove · 16/12/2021 20:51

@xxxGirlCrushxxx in my supermarkets and fuel stations everyone is wearing them. Complying. They don't even hardly work how people wear them it's just getting silly. I appreciate in enclosed spaces of course but in a supermarket where people are far apart anyway it's just getting frustrating

Also out of interest, if you or anyone you love needs medical treatment for any kind of illness or emergency, are you OK with tje fact that due to your actions and those of others like you, they may well not get it?

@coatilove I get it, I really do (currently isolating alone in a freezing flat), but if coronavirus gets out of control, prevention/emergency treatment/long term care of all other diseases is impacted. This argument that COVID shouldn't be priortised because there are other dieases doesn't make logical sense.

Pretending it isn't there won't make it go away, and an out of control pandemic impacts on everything.

boomboom1234 · 16/12/2021 20:52

Well I have found out I have covid today so I wish I was done with it. Having to cancel all my plans and won't see family at Christmas. It's lovely you are 'done' with it but you might feel different if you catch it and have no choice.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 20:52

@boomboom1234 I've had it.

@riveted1 what are we going to do - this forever? And ever and ever?

Oh well, now @coatilove has said she's had enough I'm sure it will all go away.

Heidipi · 16/12/2021 20:54

@coatilove what’s frustrating about other people wearing a mask in the supermarket?

riveted1 · 16/12/2021 20:54
@riveted1 what are we going to do - this forever? And ever and ever?
No not forever, even though it already feels like this. I'm hoping this is the last Winter that will be so severely impacted, and we can move towards treating COVID like 'flu through 2022.

But you don't seem to be trying to understand what would happen if everyone pretended COVID didn't exist?

I had covid over last christmas, had to cancel my plans and I'm with the OP. I am so over it!!

I'm triple jabbed etc blah blah blah. But I'm fed up with my life being ruled by a microscopic virus and people being ridiculous enough to think that we have any chance of stopping a virus. We've never managed before, bar smallpox so how crazy to think we can now. Definition of insanity and all that.

Pandemics don't generally last forever though.

Notonthestairs · 16/12/2021 20:56

Why do you need people to be "with you"?

Effibreast · 16/12/2021 20:56

Doesn't give a s**t obviously. No one wants a lockdown but with cases rising massively and nhs stafff already burnt out something needs doing.

megletthesecond · 16/12/2021 20:56

I think you should count yourself lucky you can afford to get a bit ill. Some of us can't.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 20:56

@Notonthestairs I don't need people with me Hmm it was just a title to see if anyone else feels the same to discuss it that's all

luinagreine · 16/12/2021 20:56

I didn't realise you can't 'get on with life' and wear a mask at the same time Confused

AutumnDays21 · 16/12/2021 20:57

The problem is always that Covid hasn't finished with us yet. This is bigger than us and we are not in control.

The 'let's act like it's gone away' approach is why we are now facing problems. It's tough, we're all struggling but acting like a bored 4 year old isn't going to change anything.

Milomonster · 16/12/2021 20:57

I’m disappointed that the vaccines didn’t provide freedom. However, this time around, I fully intend to get on with life (whilst complying with mask wearing etc). I’m currently traveling abroad and am glad I jumped through the hoops to do so. I intend to continue with my fitness classes, concerts, cinema, etc when I return as long as they remain open. I have complete sympathy with those businesses who are suffering again.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 20:58

@luinagreine it's hot just masks though is it? It's everything all over again that happened before vaccines promised us freedom.

I appreciate its no one to blame here but I'm just wandering at what point people will say fuck this?

Five years? Ten?
