I'm DONE with Covid, omicron and want to get on with my life - is anyone else with me?

Honestly at this point I'm done with it, I'm surprised people are complying so much with mask wearing and everything else - I thought the vaccine was freedom. Turns out I was wrong.

I've had enough - I'm not wearing my mask indoors and hope if there's a lockdown every business keeps its doors open and boycotts the decision.

I'm really surprised people are being so compliant, even if they have natural immunity and have been jagged (I have now had Covid and both jabs)

I can't be selfless anymore and keep getting boosters to protect others and stopping life, constant anxiety, life I feel should be going on now. Enough sacrifices have been made.

Aware I'll get flamed, but at the end of my tether with all of this now.

There are plenty of diseases that kill people, we have to accept the death rate now enough is enough.

If you've been vaccinated then what else do you intend to do? If you haven't then more fool you.

Seriously, get over yourself.

multivac · 16/12/2021 20:59

In what way don't you have 'fweedom'? Grow up.

Effibreast · 16/12/2021 20:59

Some of the ones moaning need to volunteer in ICU and get a taste of how over it isn't.

Mumoblue · 16/12/2021 21:01

The pandemic is only made longer by people who got fed up and decided it’s over because they’re bored with it. You’re just shooting yourself in the foot. But sure. You do you. Hmm

coatilove · 16/12/2021 21:01

@Milomonster I agree with you,

No-one is enjoying this. It's shit for everyone. We're all fed up, and just trying to get through Christmas without catching the damn thing. You not wearing a mask does not help that.

It will end, in time. Pandemics end. Things will be better in spring and summer, and I'm hopeful that next winter will be more normal too. But for now, we just have to put up with it being shit for a bit longer.

Notonthestairs · 16/12/2021 21:02

Christ, the drama of other people wearing masks badly.

You know those people that judge you for going to the panto? You are just as bad but in reverse.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 21:02

@TulipsGarden do they? With variants emerging all the time? What happens if a much more deadly variant emerges?

OP posts:
OnOldOlympus · 16/12/2021 21:02

How come it is always the people who’ve never been near a covid patient who are “done” with it?

I think the nicest thing I can say at this point is that you don’t have a fucking clue op.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 21:03

@OnOldOlympus I have had Covid, I Have been a Covid patient

OP posts:
ThePoetsWife · 16/12/2021 21:03

It's people who don't wear masks, aren't vaccinated etc causing this wave.

Jobchangeadvice · 16/12/2021 21:03

Honestly, I agree.

Surely its better to let omicron spread when vulnerable people have had time for their boosters to work?

How long it this suppossed to last?

Are we suppossed to have boosters every 3 months?

Will we need vaccien passports for the rest of our lives?

When will it end? If 3 vaccines can't end it, then what can?

Jobchangeadvice · 16/12/2021 21:03

And I had covid btw

SpeckledHem · 16/12/2021 21:04

Oh for goodness sake, we’re all fed it’s a pandemic! Stomping your feet won’t make any difference- it’s virus which will be here for many years. We’ll be in a pandemic for at least another year.

hmmmm1223 · 16/12/2021 21:04

I agree OP.

The issue with coronavirus has never been it being "deadly", and it's unlikely we'll have a new variant that is significantly more virulent

It's that it's highly transmissible & novel, so no-one has a good level of pre-existing immunity. There are huge issues with large numbers of the population having to isolate, being off sick, needing hospital care, long term treatment or dying.

We are slowly moving towards population level immunity, as I said in my last couple of posts which you don't seem to want to reply to, hopefully this will be the last Winter that is severely impacted, and from 2022 we can start moving towards treating coronavirus like 'flu.

ANEC · 16/12/2021 21:06

I’m with you. Utterly fed up with it. I wear a mask if asked but only to make other people happy. My whole family are the same.

I’m not a non Covid believer, I know it’s here but I think we need to adjust our mindset and just get on with it. Nobody ever seems to mention how many people die of the flu each year. It’s about 25,000 average and nobody bats an eyelid.

coatilove · 16/12/2021 21:06

The boosters are another level. Honestly, a vaccine to save the world, now it's get one every three months even if you were low risk and unlikely to die from Covid but do good every three months to save the people. I've done my bit but how many more times do I have to?

I'm just ranting tonight I'm having a wobble where it's just pissing me off - expectation after expectation.

OP posts:
whymewhyme · 16/12/2021 21:06

I'm done, i will not comply. The vaccine and your masks dont set you free.

FreddyMercurysCat · 16/12/2021 21:06

Everyone is done with it and a great many are grieving - grow the fuck up and engage your brain.

LalalalalalaLand123 · 16/12/2021 21:06

Utterly selfish attitude. You think you're the only one who's fed up, OP? We're all beyond fed up! But hopefully enough of us will put the greater good of society ahead of our own personal wants.

CovidMakesThingsHarder · 16/12/2021 21:07
@riveted1 what are we going to do - this forever? And ever and ever?
It’s a fucking pandemic. There is no good outcome. Health or wealth. HTH.
Oh, you might want to look into the research paper coming out about the higher rate if stillbirths in the first wave due to placenta/umbilical clots. Then come tell everyone on a parenting forum to spread the virus you think is made up for control. Tell that to my friend who’s having her babies funeral delayed.

riveted1 · 16/12/2021 21:07

The problem with letting it spread with no mitigations is what happens when you have beyond a certain level of people isolating, sick or in hospital.

It will then have knock on damaging effects on everything else. You get an appendicitis and need emergency surgery? No surgeons/ICU beds etc.

HairyScaryMonster · 16/12/2021 21:07

Just because you're over it doesn't mean it's over. Wearing a mask is a tiny concession, if it has any impact at all I'm happy. Vaccines are how we get out of this, but with cases doubling every couple of days even if only 0.01 of people needed hospitalisation, there won't be much capacity for anything else.

‘Nobody bats an eyelid? We have a dedicated drive to immunise people against it every year.
