Would you judge me? (Covid)

Hello 👋
I'm a 36, almost 37 year old female who is double vaccinated with pfizer.
2nd dose was mid August, so able to have a booster.

HOWEVER... I am wanting to hold off from the booster....I believe its messed with my periods a little also. Cannot get a Dr's appointment to discuss this.
I'd also like to wait and see how the next couple of weeks to months play out. I'm not an anti vaxxer, I'm not saying I won't eventually have it.

I am careful, masks, cancelled events in the run up to Christmas. Careful with my 7 year old. We all as a household do lft regularly. Social distance where possible.

SO WOULD YOU JUDGE ME?
would you say I should feel awkward sat in a room of say 5 people who have had 3 jabs knowing I've only had 2? Would you exclude me from family things?

Thanks, I understand this could get heated just wondering people thoughts

Given that latest govt risk assessment re omicron and vaccine efficiency shows that it's likely that double AZ gives no protection to speak of against omicron, and 2x Pfizer gives 30%, and boosters take it up to 70-75%, I think it's worth doing some research and thinking about it carefully.

Of course it's ultimately your choice.
I haven't read the whole thread - just the op.

I judge anybody who could get a vaccine but chooses not to.

@Mybalconyiscracking

Just back to say that I am still judging you. Have the bloody jab!
Take a day off trolling. Confused

I’m doing exactly the same… 34, double Pfizer and it messed with my periods… ultrasound and internal normal so I blame the vaccine. Work for NHS but admin so not patient facing. Careful in public but waiting to see how things pan out now…!

Sarahschild · 10/12/2021 21:10

I wouldn’t judge you and I think it’s a bit weird that you are concerned about what a bunch of strangers think.
The vaccine probably did stuff up your periods. It’s your body you’d know.
Not some person on a forum who says no it didn’t.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 10/12/2021 21:29

@CrunchyCarrot

Seen posts here saying that you would be judged unless you had tried every thing possible to get over your phobia. Like it is that easy.

Definitely not 'easy'! 'Walk a mile in my shoes' springs to mind.

Unfortunately the judgemental twats aren't capable of that.

I'm a fellow needle phobe but somehow managed to be vaccinated, mainly thanks to DH. I'm booked in for my booster on Tuesday which may or may not happen depending on certain circumstances.

If I do manage to have it and it messes with my periods I will never have another one as I'm ill with each period. I back to back the pill so if it overrides that I'm scared of being ill more frequently.

So I definitely wouldn't judge you OP!

bluebeach · 10/12/2021 22:17

Only over 40s have been asked to go for their booster. Seeing as you’re only 37 just tell your family you are waiting until you are invited. By jumping the queue you might be taking the space of an older more vulnerable person.

underneaththeash · 10/12/2021 22:33

Have it - everyone in my house has had Covid except me! I had a booster a few weeks ago.
DH DS1 abd DS2 have all been really unwell.

Have it.

Mickarooni · 10/12/2021 22:34

No need to borrow trouble if you’ve not even been called for your booster yet!!

NoelFieldingsShirt · 10/12/2021 22:49

I am suffering a horrendous and quite possibly life long & life changing reaction to my second jab so there is no way I want to have the booster and risk exacerbating my problems further. I had Covid in March 2020 so am hoping that any lasting natural immunity I might have could give me some protection against a severe case of Omicron because it looks like the AZ I had will now be next to useless!
I know I have to try and keep going for my DH & DCs but honestly, with the way I feel at the moment, I sometimes think I’d rather be dead anyway than spend the next the next 10, 20, 30 years of my life feeling as unwell as, or even worse than, I do now.
So no OP, I definitely wouldn’t judge you for not having the booster given your own legitimate concerns, just as I hope nobody would judge me for mine.

Hey 👋 Not really concerned what strangers think per se, just trying to gauge (sp?) How people would react/feel if this was happening to someone in their family.

I’d think you were being ridiculous especially given you have a child. If you were my sibling I’d probably say so.

Aria999 · 11/12/2021 00:50

The main effect of the booster is to protect you from the new variants.

I am not sure I would judge you but I think you are unwise.

You won't be protected against omicron unless you have booster
WanderingFruitWonderer · 11/12/2021 05:34

Nope. I wouldn't judge in the least. I couldn't care less whether people have had no jabs or 100 jabs! Not my business

BurnedToast · 11/12/2021 05:57

I delayed booking mine until this week when there was the announcement about the effectiveness of the vaccine on Omicron. I understand your concerns OP. It doesn't seem right that we are having 3 vaccines in under a year. How is that a vaccine of it only lasts a few months? Hmm

I'm also concerned about the next steps. How many more "vacines' are we going to be told we need?

GreenWhiteViolet · 11/12/2021 05:57

No, I wouldn't judge you. I'm not having a booster any time soon either (for several reasons) and also had disrupted periods after the first two, which were totally dismissed as 'lots of things could cause that'. Maybe so. In this case, a vaccine did.

The idea that women should be expected to put up with vaccines every 3-6 months that cause them period issues 'for the greater good' is absurd. You have to do what's best for you as an individual.

Northsoutheastwest76 · 11/12/2021 06:12

Wouldn't judge you. Your choice but are you sure your aren't peri menopausal or just stressed. So many things can mess with periods.

Etherealhedgehog · 11/12/2021 06:16

If you're genuinely concerned that it might have caused a change to your periods then I wouldn't judge you for wanting to check in with your GP first but I would hope you'd do that asap so if it turns out to be unconnected you can get the booster ASAP.

But I am absolutely judging all the people on the thread who say they couldn't care less/can't be arsed to get it themselves - and for me it's not so much about putting individual people at risk but about doing what we can to get out of this pandemic nightmare as soon as possible. This neverending cycle of restrictions, that is wreaking havoc on all of our lives, is only going to end when the disease becomes endemic because the vast majority of people have a good level of immunity, either from multiple jabs and/or having COVID. The more people check out of this process for no good reason, the slower that happens. So yeah, I judge

CouldThisReallyBe · 11/12/2021 08:40

Absolutely no judgement! You do you.

So when the virus mutates again , and it will. That will be another booster. Will that be in 3 months, a year? No one knows. That's what worries me about this mass vaccination approach. We will all end up having regular vaccines for something many if us are not particularly at risk of.

My kids have had flu vaccines for the last 4(?) years. They're not particularly at risk from flu but mass vaccinations reduces the amount of virus around. Most kids don't get particularly sick with German measles but it is very dangerous if pregnant women catch it so, what do we do? Vaccinate all children against it. This is not a new public health strategy.
