Would you judge me? (Covid)

Hello 👋
I'm a 36, almost 37 year old female who is double vaccinated with pfizer.
2nd dose was mid August, so able to have a booster.

HOWEVER... I am wanting to hold off from the booster....I believe its messed with my periods a little also. Cannot get a Dr's appointment to discuss this.
I'd also like to wait and see how the next couple of weeks to months play out. I'm not an anti vaxxer, I'm not saying I won't eventually have it.

I am careful, masks, cancelled events in the run up to Christmas. Careful with my 7 year old. We all as a household do lft regularly. Social distance where possible.

SO WOULD YOU JUDGE ME?
would you say I should feel awkward sat in a room of say 5 people who have had 3 jabs knowing I've only had 2? Would you exclude me from family things?

Thanks, I understand this could get heated just wondering people thoughts

Here's an honest article patient.info/news-and-features/can-the-covid-vaccine-affect-the-menstrual-cycle

I was a bit hesitant when omicron appeared, I planned to wait a few weeks in case they found out it was resistant and tweaked it, I didn't want to have the booster and then a few weeks later be called for an omicron one.

I did change my mind though and had it yesterday, partly because with Christmas coming up I want to be as covered as possible plus I see my Mom every day who is late 70s and I know I'd never forgive myself if I caught and passed it to her.

I'm not sure though how I'd feel if in another 3 months they want to do yet another booster, it'd be interesting to know where other people would draw the line.

XenoBitch · 09/12/2021 23:26

Not as yet, but I expect. Its their way or the high way

Well, like you have said in a more recent comment, you have not even been invited for your booster yet.
It would seem very cruel for your family to exclude you on that basis, or to even bring it up at all.

CrunchyCarrot · 09/12/2021 23:43

No I wouldn't judge you. I am unvaccinated, I had Covid before the vaccines. I'm a needle-phobe. Would you judge me?

yikesanotherbooboo · 09/12/2021 23:48

I wouldn't judge you but I'm not sure why the risk of disrupted periods would outweigh the fact that you would be less likely to contract Covid and less likely to pass the virus on to others.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/12/2021 23:53

I wouldn't judge you (I can't be arsed with that generally), but I think that everyone should do everything they can to minimise the already heinous impact Covid has had and is still having. So I think (and I'm only saying this because you asked) you are being illogical / over-anxious / putting small personal concerns against the greater good, and I would encourage you to reconsider.

Redleavesfalling289 · 09/12/2021 23:54

Worrying about disrupted periods is 'selfish' now? There's a different between one or two skipped periods and periods that have been 'disrupted' for months on end, painful & heavy periods that are unlike ever experienced before.

It feels like some people think any concerns people have on an individual basis should be entirely dismissed for 'the greater good.'

megustalacerveza · 09/12/2021 23:55

I don't understand people who ask 'would you have another 8 jabs?' Yes, I would. I'm bloody delighted to have been fortunate enough to be born in a country where I get first dibs on the world's best vaccines, totally free of charge. I'm happy to have anything that helps protect me against severe illness from covid, having seen how sick some people I know were with it. People were were younger and healthier than me (and I'm only mid thirties myself).

So yeah...I don't understand why you wouldn't.

Seen posts here saying that you would be judged unless you had tried every thing possible to get over your phobia. Like it is that easy.

I think they should. I went ahead and had my second AZ jab even after all the blood clot stories came out. Yes, I could have died from it. I was still prepared to do my bit for the greater good, just like I stayed home for months and deprived myself of all kinds of joy even though I wasn't really at risk from the virus myself.

I think most individual concerns pale in comparison to the scale of the pandemic, honestly.

Definitely not 'easy'! 'Walk a mile in my shoes' springs to mind.

sleepwouldbenice · 10/12/2021 00:00

I wouldn't judge you it's your right and you test regularly to try to counteract the risk to others. And you clearly don't spout misinformation, just have ongoing concerns

But maybe keep an eye on the data re waning vaccines and omicron, consider this risk as well and keep on trying to talk to someone qualified about your concerns....somehow

FFSFFSFFS · 10/12/2021 00:02

Anecdotally my period was fine after the first two but a week early after my booster. I’m not remotely worried about it but I get why you might be. I think it has been a HUGE failing that the impact on periods hasn’t been properly discussed. Just another example of how the default normal body is male…..

Redleavesfalling289 · 10/12/2021 00:05

I disagree, I'm afraid. As someone who experienced a lot of illness when young, I do sympathise with those worried about long Covid & the general long-term impacts of the pandemic. But as someone who has a family member who had a debilitating reaction to the vaccine, do I think he's selfish for refusing a second? Not for one second. Try spending months on end feeling like you're going to die. No fun and not fun as a family member witnessing it.

I get that it's VERY rare, but people know their own bodies and have the right to choose some self-preservation.

WouldBeGood · 10/12/2021 00:07

Not at all. Seems perfectly reasonable

zen1 · 10/12/2021 00:10

No, I wouldn’t judge you. Neither do I judge people who don’t wear masks. It just doesn’t bother me. I’m double jabbed (last jab in May) and am still undecided about the booster. October and November were the first months my periods started to return to normal since Feb when I had jab 1.

MiniatureHotdog · 10/12/2021 00:14

"Just another example of how the default normal body is male….."

Exactly. I'm not willing to have a booster at the moment "for the greater good". Why should I just put up with side effects on my health just because I'm told "it's minor" (not to me it's not!) and "temporary" (well that remains to be seen yet for me).

witsendeverytime · 10/12/2021 00:17

Well it's not like we have it tattooed on our forehead. I don't question everyone I come into contact with.
But what I think you should do is get yourself checked out. Anything out of the ordinary with your cycle could be a warning, and assigning it to a covid jab is like saying a sausage you ate that day is the cause.

InexperiencedDogOwner · 10/12/2021 00:19

I'd have more respect for you, to be honest by not having the booster. Blindly going along with the endless boosters despite them not actually doing a great deal to stop transmission (omicron came from vaccinated people) is not something I would be impressed by, especially if they are causing you problems too. I agree with a PP who said that the period issues are being glossed over as they affected women only. Sure it would be a different story if men were affected.

NovemberNovemberDarkNights · 10/12/2021 00:20

@Iamanicepersonreally

I'd judge you because you're failing to do everything in your power to keep your immunity as high as possible and are consequently putting other people at risk.
I agree with @Iamanicepersonreally and with the further comment about taking any further boosters offered.

Getting Covid may disrupt your periods, and may do FAR worse!

zen1 · 10/12/2021 00:20

Exactly. I'm not willing to have a booster at the moment "for the greater good".

Quite. To me ‘the greater good’ is not making sure everyone in our country has 3 vaccines while people in poorer countries haven’t even had the chance to have one.

Uninterested · 10/12/2021 00:29

I guess I judge people who don’t get the booster when they are due to have it. I’m not frothing at the mouth and hoiking anything but I think you should have the booster for yourself and other people

Yes, the ‘greater good’ doesn’t seem to extend beyond the U.K.

Yep. There are vulnerable in other countries who have not even had one jab yet, let alone a booster for young and healthy.
megustalacerveza · 10/12/2021 01:19

The doses are already in the UK. They will likely get wasted if people don't take them...how do you think people in poor countries would like to hear that the UK had enough supply for boosters but loads of it ended up in the bin because people didn't want it? But sure, carry on with the virtue signalling.
