Hello 👋
I'm a 36, almost 37 year old female who is double vaccinated with pfizer.
2nd dose was mid August, so able to have a booster.

HOWEVER... I am wanting to hold off from the booster....I believe its messed with my periods a little also. Cannot get a Dr's appointment to discuss this.
I'd also like to wait and see how the next couple of weeks to months play out. I'm not an anti vaxxer, I'm not saying I won't eventually have it.

I am careful, masks, cancelled events in the run up to Christmas. Careful with my 7 year old. We all as a household do lft regularly. Social distance where possible.

SO WOULD YOU JUDGE ME?
would you say I should feel awkward sat in a room of say 5 people who have had 3 jabs knowing I've only had 2? Would you exclude me from family things?

Thanks, I understand this could get heated just wondering people thoughts

It is well documented that periods can go awry afterwards.

user7514254 · 09/12/2021 22:46

I would think that you are being unreasonable since a booster would increase your immunity. Since your argument is “would you take 8 more jabs” I don’t think it’s only to do with your period that you don’t want to take boosters. What’s the full reason?

bumbleymummy · 09/12/2021 22:46

I mean no one wants to get vaccinated,do they?

I think most high risk elderly/vulnerable people do actually.

Kendodd · 09/12/2021 22:47

Sorry, meant for another thread.

Wedowonder · 09/12/2021 22:47

I am in the same position OP. My periods are completely over the the place and it's starting to piss me off now. (I bleed every 10-20 days. Heavy, light, spotting)

GP useless. She said she hasn't heard the vaccine could be a cause.

I won't be having the booster- an issue as I am a HCP and NHS says we need to be vaccinated by march. Luckily I am just bank staff, but I desperately feel for those who are contracted staff who will lose their jobs for refusal.

PrincessNutNuts · 09/12/2021 22:47

@Kendodd

Sorry, meant for another thread.
No worries. We've all done it.
UnsuitableHat · 09/12/2021 22:48

No of course I wouldn’t judge you. I wouldn’t expect to have much of a conversation about it. I don’t generally know who’s had the booster or not.

user7514254 · 09/12/2021 22:48

Also your booster dose may be different from the vaccines you had for your 1st and 2nd doses.

Unmerited · 09/12/2021 22:49

@Iamanicepersonreally

I'd judge you. I think you're being selfish
Really? I’m pro vaccination, had my booster, a bit judgmental of people that aren’t vaccinated at all (for no medical reason). But I can’t get that bothered about this. Maybe if they were spreading misinformation 🤷‍♀️
Onehotmess · 09/12/2021 22:50

I would judge you (as harsh as that sounds) but also understand it’s really none of my business. Unless someone volunteers the information, I would never ask x

MiniatureHotdog · 09/12/2021 22:52

"I'd judge you. I think you're being selfish".

That's unfair on the OP, she's not not having the booster on a whim is she?

OP I'm in the same position. I'm not anti vax at all. I had the first two jabs, but I don't think I'll be having the booster. The jabs significantly affected my periods. I don't believe I'm at risk from covid so I'm prioritising my own health for now and if that makes me selfish in some people's eyes that's up to them I'm afraid.

Vaccines are an individual choice and always should be.

HelloNope · 09/12/2021 22:53

I've had my first two jabs but I will not be getting the booster (not yet anyway) I'm mid 30's.

Since I had the second vaccination in August my period has been all over the place, as well as spotting a week before it's due, and then another week of bleeding. I think it's just starting to stabilise so I want to wait and see if it does.

Then I will get the reassurance that I need that it will go back to normal.

andweallsingalong · 09/12/2021 22:53

Feeling like utter shit on day 9 of covid despite being double jabbed so I think you'd be mad not to get the booster. Wouldn't want anyone to risk feeling like this at Xmas.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 09/12/2021 22:54

No I wouldnt judge

Ive not had mine yet so it would be horrendously hypocritical of me, the site keeps sending me miles away probably because more local appointments are fully booked

JustALittleHelpPlease · 09/12/2021 23:00

I'm double jabbed and boosted. I haven't had periods for blah years. It really bothers me that people are writing this off as "ooh just a thing... happens a lot.." seriously? Why on earth would a vaccine interfere with your reproductive cycle? The fact that it "just does" doesn't make it ok - without explanation- and I'm really cross that other women are trying to downplay this like it's weird to ask.

Vaccines do not interfere with biological functions, we're told this a lot. Yet now we're supposed to just accept "oh, well maybe it does, it'll be fine". When did we become yes women again?

If vaccines cannot possibly mess with biological functions such as periods why are they? And why the hell isn't someone spending a good amount of time finding out? I'm guessing it's because shrug just wimin init.

JustALittleHelpPlease · 09/12/2021 23:00

Sorry, o answer the question, no I wouldn't judge

SmellyOldOwls · 09/12/2021 23:02

No I wouldn't and I get quite irritated at anti vaxxers. But you're not anti vax if you've been jabbed twice and the side effects were very offputting. Some people react badly to the jabs and we shouldn't be surprised that they aren't in a hurry to rush out for a third when that happens.

Noonoo8589 · 09/12/2021 23:04

Not at all.
I’m also 36, triple jabbed. My dh is unvaccinated. He makes his choices and I make mine and we respect each other’s and every one else’s views, choices and opinions.

Sittingonabench · 09/12/2021 23:05

No I wouldn’t judge you. You’re only 4 months in. Previous time periods suggests 6 months is when immunity begins to wane and in 2 months they may have tweaked the vaccine to support new variants which would provide further protection so it seems perfectly sensible. I would/will have as many boosters as needed but I also don’t want to take up spaces of those more in need or whose immunity has waned so will wait until 6 months.

Katie517 · 09/12/2021 23:08

Nope I’m not getting the booster unless it will stop me being able to travel (the only reason I had my second jab) after the horrendous and long lasting side effects from my first, second was better but it has completely screwed up my periods as well, which will make trying for another baby soon more difficult. So the booster is a no from me. I also couldn’t give a damn who has or hasn’t had one and certainly wouldn’t judge anyone.

withgraceinmyheart · 09/12/2021 23:08

I wouldn’t judge you, and I wouldn’t ask.

But if you told me it would change the way I interacted with you, because you’re more likely to have the omicron variant and I don’t want to get isolated.

In answer to your question about ongoing jabs, I have the flu jab every year (way more than 8) and the only year I didn’t I was admitted to hospital with pneumonia, so yes I’m happy to get whatever jabs I’m offered.

MiniatureHotdog · 09/12/2021 23:09

@JustALittleHelpPlease I totally agree. It's very patronising for some posters to question how others can even know if it's even the vaccine affecting our periods. Erm, because I've had periods for 25 years and I know my body. If it was affecting men in a similar way you can bet it would be investigated more.

StellaGibson118 · 09/12/2021 23:09

No. I'm double vaxxed and my daughter had covid and I didn't get it. My friend who is also double jabbed didnt get it when her two kids did. So your individual vaccination status doesn't matter to me, it's more the population's that's important.

JingleJangler · 09/12/2021 23:10

I have been jabbed twice. They can fuck right off with any more holes in my arm unless a more severe variant rocks up.

middleager · 09/12/2021 23:20

I'm late 40s, double vaccinated and booster booked. I only had Covid three months ago and I feel in no rush, but will go.

While the vaccination did not impact my periods, I experienced an issue with my period after contracting Covid. My period that month did not come.

I really wish there were more research into Covid and the impact on menstruation/hormones.
