Would you judge me? (Covid)

Hello 👋
I'm a 36, almost 37 year old female who is double vaccinated with pfizer.
2nd dose was mid August, so able to have a booster.

HOWEVER... I am wanting to hold off from the booster....I believe its messed with my periods a little also. Cannot get a Dr's appointment to discuss this.
I'd also like to wait and see how the next couple of weeks to months play out. I'm not an anti vaxxer, I'm not saying I won't eventually have it.

I am careful, masks, cancelled events in the run up to Christmas. Careful with my 7 year old. We all as a household do lft regularly. Social distance where possible.

SO WOULD YOU JUDGE ME?
would you say I should feel awkward sat in a room of say 5 people who have had 3 jabs knowing I've only had 2? Would you exclude me from family things?

Thanks, I understand this could get heated just wondering people thoughts

@megustalacerveza

The doses are already in the UK. They will likely get wasted if people don't take them...how do you think people in poor countries would like to hear that the UK had enough supply for boosters but loads of it ended up in the bin because people didn't want it? But sure, carry on with the virtue signalling.
It can not be too hard to surely ship vaccine doses abroad. If it is a storage/delivery issue, then send funds to sort that too. Stop blaming a small minority here for exercising freedom of choice. It is distasteful when there are millions in other countries begging for the vaccine. Delta and Omicron came from large unvaccinated countries... yet people who have had the vaccine here get blamed for it all.
XenoBitch · 10/12/2021 01:26

*not had the vaccine

megustalacerveza · 10/12/2021 01:28

@XenoBitch perhaps you should educate yourself about South Africa...there is lots of vaccine hesitancy. Plenty of people could have had the jab but didn't want it.

User378436 · 10/12/2021 05:41

Of course not, if I had been younger I wouldn't have had mine yet and would have left it to see how it all panned out, I'm in my 60s so did have it but don't care who else has had it or any of the jabs come to that.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 10/12/2021 05:58

No I wouldn't judge anyone for their vaccination status but I would judge those who do judge other people vaccination status. If you have idiots like this in your close circle and you were getting grief over it I'd just lie and say you've had it and get it at a later stage if you decide you want it.
Do what's best for you nobody else.

fedup078 · 10/12/2021 06:25

No
I wouldn't even judge you if you'd had 0 vaccines
I'm double jabbed and I don't give a flying fck what anyone else chooses to do because quite frankly I feel like we were sold a lie with the vaccines anyway
I am so beyond sick of this shit now

Fizzbo · 10/12/2021 06:34

I’ve had all my jabs but don’t judge anyone whether they’ve had any jabs or not. I wouldn’t dream of asking them whether they were jabbed either. I believe in choice.

scandikate · 10/12/2021 06:37

I know I'm in the minority but I honestly don't judge people on their medical choices and wouldn't even ask you what vaccinations you had had.

DBI78 · 10/12/2021 06:37

My belief is that we are better off vaccinating (including booster) for the greater good of society. Ie to protect the more vulnerable rather than the impact on an individual level. But I do think it's people choice although I agree with more restrictions on non vaccinated people. (Such as travel, nightclubs etc) not as a punishment but more to protect them from catching covid becoming seriously ill and /or spreading it further.

lololololollll · 10/12/2021 06:40

I wouldn't judge, but I think a little less with your periods isn't the worst side effect. Unless it's worse than you're saying as there's little to say it's so bad to not have it

Suzi888 · 10/12/2021 06:40

No.
But your private medical history is non of my business and should not be discussed and that goes for family too. I don’t know why discussing jabs is even a thing.
I’m 43, have had both jabs and not been invited for a booster yet and doubt I will until January at the earliest.
You are not putting other people at risk OP, pp need to stop being so bloody dramatic.

Tiredpigeon · 10/12/2021 06:40

No judgement. I could have had the booster a month ago but I have endometriosis which got considerably worse following the second jab so I needed time to think about it and I am having further investigations. I now have covid and hindsight can be a wonderful thing! I will get the booster when I can but let's not pretend these decisions are easy for everyone.

lololololollll · 10/12/2021 06:41

#mess! God I need to start proof reading my replies

clarepetal · 10/12/2021 06:44

I wouldn't judge you from what you have said. It's entirely YOUR business.

Wedowonder · 10/12/2021 07:00

@lololololollll

I wouldn't judge, but I think a little less with your periods isn't the worst side effect. Unless it's worse than you're saying as there's little to say it's so bad to not have it
Irregular periods could mean fertility is impacted. Also it could mean early perimenopause. Perhaps the OP would like a baby in the future...

Hopefully the vaccine has caused neither. But with these symptoms myself, I won't be having the booster either.

tenredthings · 10/12/2021 07:07

I'm in the same position as you. I'm double jabbed and just had Covid. I was really ill, it was so awful. My confidence in the vaccine actually working is shaken. How many more boosters will we have to keep taking ? They are not even adapted for the latest variants. I had my 2nd one only 4 months before getting really ill.
I won't be having any more.

tigger1001 · 10/12/2021 07:08

I honestly don't get why talking about who has had the booster (or the other two) is a thing. I would ask anyone. Quite frankly it's not my business.

The affects on women's periods is widespread and well documented. Yet we have people on here saying it doesn't matter. Of course it does! My periods were affected after the first dose. Not planning more babies so it didn't put me off getting future vaccines but if I was younger and planning a baby in the future? Yes I would have been more hesitant.

We need to stop with the judging. Covid has been all about being judged.

QueenofKattegat · 10/12/2021 07:24

I think they should. I went ahead and had my second AZ jab even after all the blood clot stories came out. Yes, I could have died from it. I was still prepared to do my bit for the greater good, just like I stayed home for months and deprived myself of all kinds of joy even though I wasn't really at risk from the virus myself

Look at me, I could have died but I was prepared to take that risk "for the greater good". All the lols.

speckledcat · 10/12/2021 07:27

I've always thought that we would end up having an annual booster for variants just like we do for flu. My only surprise is that immunity from the vaccine has been so short.

JustDanceAddict · 10/12/2021 07:28

I don’t really get why you wouldn’t have the booster- could be any reason for your periods being messed up.
I think boosters will be a yearly occurrence now like flu shots. I had the flu one this year for first time as I just want to be fully protected.

MrsRandallFraser · 10/12/2021 07:30

Absolutely no judgement here. I'm a bit younger than you, but could've written your post.

I've had the first two vaccines and since my first in June I've had the most horrific periods I've had in my life. Heavy, irregular, blinding headaches, sickness. I attributed it to the vaccine and had read about it affecting women's periods so wasn't surprised. However, if I'd known it was going to be this bad, I don't know how quick I would've been to have the vaccine so I'm definitely going to take my time deciding about the booster.

What I will most likely do, is wait until the 6 month mark after my second vaccine, which is the end of January and see if my period settles down and then go to the GP if they haven't and make a decision about the booster then.

Mybalconyiscracking · 10/12/2021 07:32

I judge you, have your booster!

If pregnant women can do it you can.

bakewelltarty · 10/12/2021 07:39

Although I wouldn't voice my opinion to you, I'd quietly judge your decision, yes.

We are so incredibly lucky to live in a country that provides vaccinations so readily. It really saddens me how some people view this so negatively. Ultimately it's your choice but we would inarguably be in a much worse position without the vaccination programme. As immunity wains and variants grow we will again move to crisis point. More restrictions and less access to adequate health care will be the consequence. That's just a natural progression. I don't understand how people think their right to choose won't impact these things.

pianolessons1 · 10/12/2021 07:40

The impact on periods is short term. Please don't waste a gp appt on this. Have it or don't have it, but don't call the gp. What do you think they ar going to say?

MiniatureHotdog · 10/12/2021 07:49

The impact on periods is short term do you have any links to research related to the covid vaccine to back this up?

I've had 6 months of affects so far. I'd love to know how you know it's only going to be "temporary".
