i know she was worried about the jab side effects
but i havent been there for a few weeks and not sure how appropriate it is to ask her

Remmy123 · 28/08/2021 08:33

Why wouldn't you?

Remmy123 · 28/08/2021 08:33

Btw it is totally inappropriate to ask her abd it's none of your business.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 08:34

someone said to me i shouldnt

alloutofcareunits · 28/08/2021 08:34

I have no idea if my hairdresser has been jabbed or not, I certainly wouldn't ask her - so yes, I would go

dudsville · 28/08/2021 08:34

I wouldn't. Unvaccinated people pose more of a risk to others.

Remmy123 · 28/08/2021 08:42

Why shouldn't you ? What will happen? You are double vaxxed I presume and vaccinated can still pass it on so it's irrelevant.

Karwomannghia · 28/08/2021 08:43

I do, we’ve talked about it, it’s up to her.

StarryStarrySocks · 28/08/2021 08:47

Not if I could help it, but then I don't see how I'd know if they were vaccinated or not. I certainly wouldn't be asking a hairdresser if they'd been jabbed or not!

chipsandpeas · 28/08/2021 08:47

yes as im not going round asking peoples vaccination status

Dandy008 · 28/08/2021 08:49

@dudsville

I wouldn't. Unvaccinated people pose more of a risk to others.
@dudsville

How do you work that one out….?

Vaccinated people can still spread Covid.
Can’t really see a difference between spending time a vaccinated or unvaccinated person.

By the way, I’m double jabbed and would spend time with someone who is unvaccinated.

If anything I am more of a risk to them than they are me!

whosaidtha · 28/08/2021 08:49

Vaccinated people can still transmit the disease so as long as you're jabbed doesn't matter. Also you shouldn't be asking her about her medical history. She could also lie.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 08:50

no, it came up in the conversation last haircut

OP posts:
grapewine · 28/08/2021 08:52

If I knew she wasn't, then no. But I'd not ask.

SpicyJalfrezi · 28/08/2021 08:55

The purpose behind getting vaccinated is surely so you don’t get covid, or, as now seems to be the narrative, are ‘less likely to be hospitalised.’ So I must admit I don’t really understand why someone vaccinated is anxious about being with someone who isn’t, unless it doesn’t work, in which case it’s just as pointless them being vaccinated as you.

girlmom21 · 28/08/2021 08:58

Whether or not she's vaccinated makes no difference. I'd go.

idontlikealdi · 28/08/2021 09:00

We're fecked if people are asking vaccination status. Assuming you are what does it matter.

FWIW the husband and I are double vaxxed since May, the whole family is positive for Covid.

onelittlefrog · 28/08/2021 09:02

If I knew they weren't vaccinated I would go elsewhere.

Hairdressers are probably wise not to disclose their vaccination status tbh!

onelittlefrog · 28/08/2021 09:03

Well obviously a vaccine reduces the risk and hopefully means if you do catch it you will be less ill and less likely to be hospitalised. It does not eliminate risk entirely and doesn't claim to.

It is still safer to be around people who are vaccinated and that would be my preference.

aaaaah · 28/08/2021 09:03

I'd go. It's them who would get ill.

nordica · 28/08/2021 09:08

People who haven't been vaccinated are more likely to have covid, that's why they are more of a risk to others. The latest research also seems to show that even though double vaccinated people initially have a similar viral load, it decreases quicker and they are less likely to transmit the virus.

I think it would also depend on why they're not vaccinated. A rampant covid denier would be less likely to do tests as well and would just be working with milder symptoms.

Mantlemoose · 28/08/2021 09:09

Are you going to ask if she gets her flu jab, her mmr, is she on contraceptives?.Absolutely none of anyone's business. If you care that much stay home forever.

SnoreyNora · 28/08/2021 09:11

Are you going to ask all the supermarket workers if they are vaccinated? Emergency services if you ever need to use them?
It's not appropriate to ask someone else, and none of you're business.
What if they say no, will you stop using them? If you're concerned then wear a mask, you keep yourself safe.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 09:12

do you not chat with your hairdresser?

OP posts:
LakeShoreD · 28/08/2021 09:12

Most of the hairdressers where I go look like they’re are about 19. So I’m working on the assumption that they’re yet to be fully vaccinated. And I’m perfectly ok with that. A rampant anti vaxxer that works it into the conversation - no thanks and I’d go elsewhere.

Timeforabiscuit · 28/08/2021 09:13

Id more likely use them if they were doing twice weekly swabs and keeping up with masks, hygiene, social distancing and ventilation in the salon. Vaccination is a personal choice, but the rest should be standard good practice.
