Better not go to shop , get public transport… people are odd 🤦‍♀️🤣 best you stay home

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 28/08/2021 09:14

Oh wow. I would still go. I don't feel that other people's personal medical information is any of my business.

It's clear however that we have created a two tier society whereby people think it's okay to essentially avoid a sector of people because of their vaccination status which is frankly horrendous. Presumably you'd not avoid someone based on any of their other vaccinations.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 09:14

vaccination status is a topic of conversation, a highly popular one

I wouldn't ask, but if she's told you, then that's different. I dont think I would. Yes, vaccinated people can still catch and transmit covid, but its much less likely.

I'm surprised she's told her customers.

But once you're there surely the outcome of the conversation is irrelevant
MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 09:16

plenty of self employed people will not be doing twice weekly lfts,
i guess ventilation is the key

Doesn't make it right! Doesn't mean you're not essentially going to avoid people because of their personal health information.

Again, did you do this previously or?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 09:19

@Getyourarseofffthequattro
i dont understand your bullying question.

what would you do?
i had intended to go back

OP posts:
MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 09:21

and there is no comparison with supermarket workers/bus drivers

perhaps taxi drivers, but then you are in control of ventilation

Bullying? Can you explain how I am bullying?

I would go because I don't judge people based on their personal decisions to get a vaccination or not. Also, I have been vaccinated so even if I caught it I would be highly unlikely to be severely ill.

I think you'll have a hard time because many people will have chosen not to be vaccinated and your world will become quickly very small.

Justgettingbye · 28/08/2021 09:22

I'm going out with 2 friends tonight I assumed both were vaccinated, turns out one isn't. I feel a little bit anxious knowing this info but I'm still going out with them

PurpleDaisies · 28/08/2021 09:23

I have no idea if my hairdresser is vaccinated and I won’t be asking.

I am vaccinated. That’s what’s within my control.

LongTimeMammaBear · 28/08/2021 09:23

If they were a covid denier and didn’t take steps to protect themselves, staff, customers - no. I’d not go

If they had some sort of condition preventing them from being vaccinated but took steps to protect themselves, staff and customers (masks, temperature, questionnaire about covid symptoms, screens, hand sanitiser etc), then yes, I’d go

aaaaah · 28/08/2021 09:24

@MrsLargeEmbodied

do you not chat with your hairdresser?
Not about their health or politics
Nowthisisme · 28/08/2021 09:26

My hairdresser posts all sorts of anti-vac shit on FB so, much as I like her, I’m giving her a wide berth for now.

It is and a couple of work colleagues have asked me if I'm vaccinated and were told to mind their own business.
FishfingerFlinger · 28/08/2021 09:27

My CEV mum has just let her cleaner go because she has chosen not to get the jab.

She thinks having an unvaccinated person (who is more likely to contract and spread covid) in the house regularly is an unnecessary risk.

Meh, it's not really the same.

I had a hospital appointment the other day which involved injections into my jaw muscle. So two doctors hovering around my face for 10 mins. Of course they wearing full PPE to minimise risk of transmission and generally being v careful.

Contrast this to a hairdresser appointment which is exactly the same level of contact, for a much longer time period, with the person probably wearing a flimsy cloth mask.

It would be my preference to have a vaccinated hairdresser, why take extra risk when you don't have to? But no I wouldn't be asking.

Feel bad that she's just blithely going on about this to customers without realising though :/

Lindy2 · 28/08/2021 09:33

My mum, in her 80s, found out her hairdresser isn't vaccinated. She has now booked her hair appointment with a new mobile hairdresser who she knows is vaccinated.

When she told me about her existing hairdresser I encouraged her to look for someone new and to ask her friends for recommendations.

A hairdresser is in close contact with their clients. If they are not vaccinated they are a higher risk for catching and spreading Coronavirus. Why should my mum increase her risk of being ill because of someone else not taking sensible decisions in terms of protecting themselves and others?

But you can still catch it and pass it on if you're vaccinated. So it's totally irrelevant

Lindy2 · 28/08/2021 09:39

No it's not.

The risk is significantly higher with the unvaccinated.

Creamyvanille · 28/08/2021 09:39

Mind your business

SpicyJalfrezi · 28/08/2021 09:41

Clearly your mum doesn’t have to use a hairdresser she is uncomfortable with for any reason, @Lindy2, but by the same token, the hairdresser doesn’t have to have the vaccine.

That’s how this free country works. I don’t know why there are endless arguments about it.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 28/08/2021 09:41

I just think where does it end though?

Would you encourage your mother to refuse to see a certain gp, refuse a HCA's assistance in hospital, turn a paramedic away?

Because in reality they won't be wearing masks forever and they won't all be vaccinated.

Ingloriousbasterd · 28/08/2021 09:43

No I wouldn't ask ...Will you be asking strangers around you in supermarkets/on buses and trains?
