@SpicyJalfrezi

So in that case, not wishing to be thick but it doesn’t seem to make a blind bit of difference, does it.
It does. Far lesser chance of getting covid if you are vaxxed, so far less chance of passing it on. Reduces chance. Not eliminates.
wasthataburp · 28/08/2021 11:08

Hahahahahahaha is this a joke??

illuyankas · 28/08/2021 11:09

@Getyourarseofffthequattro Your responce is out of ordinally. People can have vaccine for different reasons. Some have it just because it's right thing to do.
You say you are vaccinated. Your reaction says otherwise. It's very weird.

placemats · 28/08/2021 11:10

Wouldn’t even occur to me to ask their vaccine status. I really don’t think that is something that should become normalised tbh.

Yet if you are going abroad to a country your vaccination status is essential for various rules, regardless of travel status - green, amber or red.

wasthataburp · 28/08/2021 11:10

@MrsLargeEmbodied

do you not chat with your hairdresser?
Yes but personal medical choice and situations somehow do not get mentioned. Probably because that is absolutely none of my business. Next you will be asking what kind of birth control she's on or if she's had her smear test.

My reaction?

I am double vaccinated.... I have literally no reason to lie about that.

I just don't agree with judging anyone on their vaccination status. Perhaps you do.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 11:17

@wasthataburp
it was during the time that a certain age group was being put forward,
it wasnt Have you rather Will you
not so personal
it has been a hot topic, less so now as we are down to the teenagers,

In normal situations, I agree the personal medical status in none of other people's business. It shouldn't be mentioned.

But we are still in pandemic. Person being vaccinated or not might make difference to your own health. So, the person, especially paying person has rights to ask, as well as the person asked has rights to refuse to answer.

OliveTree75 · 28/08/2021 11:17

@placemats

So would you be happy to get fish and chips from a man who admits he had Covid but still served people anyway?
...eh?
HalzTangz · 28/08/2021 11:18

All a vaccination does is reduces the chances of ending up hospitalised.

You can still catch covid (and not even be aware you have it)

You can still spread covid.

The vaccine isn't 100% effective on anyone

You are probably more danger for spreading covid (as you could have no symptoms at all) than someone not vaccinated who is far more likely to develop symptoms (and would then hopefully not go in to work to cut someone's hair)

Waxonwaxoff0 · 28/08/2021 11:18

I caught Covid from a double vaxxed person so I'd have no issue going to an unvaccinated hairdresser. Makes no difference to me.

YerAWizardHarry · 28/08/2021 11:21

I’m a teacher and waiting on second vaccine appointment (due to my age) been back with the kids 2 weeks now. Would you not send your child to an “unvaccinated” educator? Lots of our young staff aren’t fully vaccinated yet

MareofBeasttown · 28/08/2021 11:22

@HalzTangz it also reduces your chances of getting Covid quite substantially. This point is never stressed enough on MN. Instead, people keep saying you can still get Covid. You have a much higher ( 60%?) chance of getting Covid if you are unvaxxed.

The argument that vaxxed people are more likely to spread Covid is absolute bollocks.

Trinacham · 28/08/2021 11:23

Same here. I have covid currently and caught it from one of my colleagues - all double vaxxed. That's 5 colleagues who've had both jabs now who've had covid in a short space of time. I'm unvaccinated (deciding to wait until after pregnancy - i'm not an anti-vaxxer). Clear to me that having the jab doesn't mean you won't get covid, so I certainly wouldn't care whether or not my hairdresser was vaccinated.
HalzTangz · 28/08/2021 11:24

No it isn't.

As plenty have said on this thread they caught covid from double vaxxed people.

You live in lala land if you think the argument is bollocks

PhilCornwall1 · 28/08/2021 11:26

So, the person, especially paying person has rights to ask, as well as the person asked has rights to refuse to answer.

So the person being paid just says "yep, double jabbed thanks", even though they aren't. Where does it end, asking them to prove it?

Unless you’re already immune.

IWishIWasABaller · 28/08/2021 11:29

I couldn't care less about my hairdressers vaccine status and it's got absolutely nothing to do with me either .

MareofBeasttown · 28/08/2021 11:30

Not la la land. Data..Not anecodotes from.MN.

Bumbly, you should get that on a tshirt.🙂

illuyankas · 28/08/2021 11:31

This is totally misinformed. Vaccination does reduce transmission, as well as reducing severity.

The infected fully vaccinated person can still transmit virus. But the huge difference is, that the rate that the vaccinated person to get infected is greatly reduced compared to unvaccinated.

So if you really want to state some facts, you really need to state the true facts, not just partial fact that help the anti vaxx sentiment.

placemats · 28/08/2021 11:42

Do you also not realise that you can be covid positive AND double vaccinated?

Yes.

What is your point?

Do you also not realise that you cannot travel to another country without showing your vaccination status and recent covid negative status?

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 28/08/2021 11:44

@placemats

Because you were trying to compare someone being unvaccinated with someone covid positive but it's two different things.

Erm yes, I do.... What are you getting at?

placemats · 28/08/2021 11:48

I care about infecting other people, I care about their business and what it would do to them. I got vaccinated to enable myself to be protected against going into hospital and dying. I care about people who have been on waiting lists for operations. I care about NHS staff who have had to work endless shifts treating those with Covid.
