@placemats

I care about infecting other people, I care about their business and what it would do to them. I got vaccinated to enable myself to be protected against going into hospital and dying. I care about people who have been on waiting lists for operations. I care about NHS staff who have had to work endless shifts treating those with Covid.
So do I..... And?

You can infect other people even if you're vaccinated though.

I care about all those things too, that’s why I was vaccinated. I don’t expect people to be vaccinated to protect me, though.
MrsLargeEmbodied · 28/08/2021 12:20

those in their twenties were surely mainly vaccinated to protect others since they had less chance of being very ill

Yes, and that was their choice. If someone in their 20’s decides not to be vaccinated as their risk is low, that’s fine with me.

I'm 30 and I'll be honest, I got vaccinated so I wouldn't have to isolate as a close contact and to make it easier for me to travel.
Neverrains · 28/08/2021 12:52

I’m mid 30’s, have had Covid and one of my main motivations was that it’s easier to visit my family abroad when vaccinated. Yeah that’s selfish 🤷🏻‍♀️.

No it's not, it's being honest and nothing wrong with that.

I certainly wasn't vaccinated for "the greater good" that everyone bangs on about.

PurpleDaisies · 28/08/2021 12:59

Not having to isolate when you’re a contact is my biggest benefit from the vaccine at the moment.
It really doesn’t matter what people’s motives for getting vaccinated are.

I think that will probably be the main motivation for a lot of younger people to be honest. I also wouldn't have had AstraZeneca if that was the only option, luckily they changed the guidance before I was due my jab.
AnnieBanannie1 · 28/08/2021 13:02

It doesn't make a difference so I'd go.
I also don't ask people.

Welshiefluff · 28/08/2021 13:03

Yes.

Why are so many people acting like Chicken Littles?

Neverrains · 28/08/2021 13:08

Yeah I also would have said no if I was only offered AZ.

seasidehouse · 28/08/2021 13:14

No

illuyankas · 28/08/2021 13:29

Even you do it for less restriction for travel, it's great. You are actually contributing to going back to normal by reducing susceptible pool of people to be likely to be infected, thus doing greater good unintentionally. So, I think there is no selfish reason to be vaccinated in the first place.

QueenofKattegat · 28/08/2021 13:30

Selfish to your core

What the actual fuck are you on about?

placemats · 28/08/2021 13:44

You're not in your 20s, you are in your fourth decade of life.

You got vaccinated to make it easier to travel, selfish.

You didn't have to isolate post 2 vaccinations, so selfish.

Who the fuck goes out to work having been in close contact with those who got Covid? You have to be extremely selfish to do this.

placemats · 28/08/2021 13:45

Those who on this thread do it for themselves and not for others actually want Covid to continue and to not let others get on with their lives. Selfish to the extreme.

What?!

I certainly don't want covid to continue, other people can do as they please...?

You seem to think you can read minds, you can't.

People who want to keep their jobs! Most workplaces will expect people to come in now since it is allowed.

Rubbish Grin. I’ve been vaccinated. My reasons for it are irrelevant to the outcome. Covid doesn’t look at someone’s intentions and say ‘ooh I’m going to infect a few more people because x person only got vaccinated to make travel easier’. People who want other people to do something to protect them are selfish.
Neverrains · 28/08/2021 13:54

Who the fuck goes out to work having been in close contact with those who got Covid?

People who don’t get paid if they don’t? Unless you’re selfless enough to also pay my wages?

placemats · 28/08/2021 13:54

So you're poor and on minimum wage and want to keep your job. By constantly infecting each other. Just because you've had covid once doesn't mean you can get it again.

Please do tell me who you work for because I bet the high levellers all isolate.

I bet the ‘high levellers’ can also work from home.
placemats · 28/08/2021 13:57

Your CEO is going to be isolating, of that there is no doubt.

Be a sheeple if you want, but most companies are running on empty in this country when it comes to refilling shelves staff.
